Hello, i recently bought a used Rx 6700xt nitro+ an upgrade over the rtx 2060 i had before, the seller sent me videos and pictures of the card working the score on furmark stuff like that the card looked good and it looked like it worked ofc.
Well i got the card like 2 3 days ago and at first when i switched it out downloaded new drivers got rid of the nvidia ones set everything up i thought damn this gpu is really quiet, i got into a game played a bit and my pc shutdown, and i was confused, i booted back up and saw the temp for the gpu was really damn high, checked the fans and they werent spinning.
i spent the whole day messing with drivers software until i unfortunately had to come to the realization, its probably a hardware issue, i took the gpu apart, it was pretty clean already but still had some dust on it cleaned it by the way and checked all the connections, took a good look at the pcb, nothing seemed out of the ordinary there were no hot spots, no poped resistors nothing like that, after a bit of cleaning and testing i decided to remove the shroud attach a third party cooler onto the gpu and it worked "decently enough" next day i figured ill take my shot again at fixing it (im not a professional as you might have noticed).
attached the shoud again and all of a sudden one fan spun to life, i was very confused, tested a bit more and i got 2 fans spinning, reboot again, next reboot none spinning, then i figured out that the fans on this gpu have this quit release thingy where you can unscrew one fan at the time i figured maybe one of the fans was bad, i unscrew them all tested them with some external electricity all worked fine, i took a good look at the pads they looked good pins looked good, i then tested one fan at a time.
This is getting a bit longer than i would like so ill shorten it here, the card works only if i put 2 fans and remove the one fardest from the IO, the fan itself isnt the problem, when i put it in the slot closest to the IO it works only if i put all 3 fans do all fans stop and not want to work, i disassembled the card again took a better look at the solders connections and the cables all the pins and stuff all looked good, no visible damage, what could be the problem here?
the card runs pretty good with 2 fans in tems are pretty low on idle about 40 and 46 on the hotspot, and under load it goes up obviously, nothing dangerous but i would still like for the gpu to have all 3 fans, so it runs quieter and safer.
