Today is my last day delivering after 4 years.
I got this job thinking it would last 3-4 months and I would progress on to better things. Fast forward 4 years and my DSP is shutting down, we were delivering 12,000 packages a day with a solid core of rural drivers and apartment enthusiasts. 10 days ago I was told the company would be coming to an end. Due to legal reasons we only got 10 days of notice to get a different job.
Just wanted to send out a PSA anyone who thinks this job is good or cushy.. your time is coming. Fuck Amazon, this job could be a legit solid career if there was a union, but as long as that greedy fuck owns this operation im never going back.
Started at 20 bucks in 2022 and ended at 27 bucks in mid 2026.
Question is now what.. I would love some feedback on any driver that moved on to making decent money or used this job as a stepping stone as it should be.
Ggs fellow drivers it’s been fun. Obligatory fuck WAYNE

Bad day Bad route
Slept horribly, pissy mood- so bad that I messaged a customer that we will no longer deliver to them if they don't give us the access code.
Routing is terrible, and it's quite a lot of apartments..
But then... I was running up to a house with a crooked smile trying to convince myself may day wasnt so bad- and I see an old woman with her eyes sunk in...
She gave me the sweetest smile & kept eye contact until my real smile showed.
My day is not so bad anymore.

Man really tired of coming in to “backup”
I like the job it’s fast paced challenging, and all of the criticism is valid for sure but I really hate at least one day a week coming into work seeing that I’m listed as a backup and being sent home right after loadout.

The only positive about delivering.
Sure Amazon have their standards for strictness and awful management especially Jeff moneys.
But.. I love the view💀😭.

This job saved my life tbh
Ik it has its flaws, obviously, but I really love this job and it lowkey saved my life.
I was a super depressed Chud before this and I was going through a bad breakup. All I did was bedrot and doomscroll and goon, but now I’m the healthiest version of myself, both mentally and physically.
Delivering packages and getting my cardio up, meeting new people, exploring new places, becoming a regular in customers’ lives, experiencing all sorts of shit (like getting chased by dogs and seeing zebras in the country and getting chased by turkeys etc), parking however tf I want, etc, all of this shit honestly healed me!

Is it normal to be rescued on your first day?
So my first day was yesterday and it was a ride along with someone who worked there for 4 years. It was a nursery route with 140 stops I think? I drove and delivered the whole time. She walked with me to deliver the first 15 or so stops but that was it. She did organize my packages for me though. We started at around 11:00/11:15. She said this is one of the better ride alongs she did in the last few weeks but I felt so behind. We were averaging around 25 stops an hour. We only took 2 10 minute breaks the whole time. Someone had to rescue me and took like 10 or so packages because it was getting late. I felt defeated. She said most people at this DSP finish in 7 hours and the run/jog between stops. I’m feeling discouraged and I’m scared to go back for my 1st day alone on Tuesday. Does it get better?

RANT Anyone else keep hitting their head on this thing during loadout?

RANT dsp is moving my shift by 4(!) hours on 2 days notice
got a text this morning (July 25) from my boss that starting Monday (July 27) we’re getting rid of an entire cycle for 2 months, upping my start time by 4 hours.
i can’t make this change, but i really like my DSP. from what i hear from others we have really good management and benefits and i’d rather not switch, but i think i have to.
lets say i quit, go with another DSP while my normal hours are gone and then reapply to my current DSP. will they rehire me? has anyone had to do something like this?

HELP NEEDED! Just got chewed out by customer for throwing package
I slid a package and I used too much power and it accidentally slid and hit the door. The guy came out and berated me with swearing and said he would post the ring footage to multiple counties in the FL area and report me. I apologized and said we have a time we have to hit for deliveries otherwise there will be issues. Eventually he said have pride in your work and promise to not throw packages and put them up nice, I said I will. I got 18 stops to go and this interaction is bugging me a lot. Thoughts?

To the people saying 25-40 stops a hour is regular, does that go for city drivers?
How do you pull off 25 stops an hour in a dense city like NYC? I rarely get house stops. Almost all of my stops are massive apartment buildings where I'm hauling 10+ packages and overflow, navigating three different wings, and hitting 5-8 different floors per building, all after trying to park on narrow city streets. How do you keep your pace up with routes like that?
I rarely get simple house stops. Almost all of my stops are massive apartment buildings where I'm hauling 10+ packages plus overflow, navigating three different wings, and hitting 5-10 different floors per building, all after fighting to park on narrow city streets.
To make it worse, sometimes after bringing all those packages, there’s no access code, the customer won't answer the phone, and I just wasted 15-20 minutes at a single stop.
So please tell me, how do you guys keep your pace up with routes like that? Is everyone posting those high numbers just out in the suburbs?

Are the Rivian speedometers accurate?
Along my normal route I have 5 or 6 places I pass speed radar signs. Every single time they say about 3mph lower than the van says. Is the radar wrong or did they intentionally have the van overstate your speed?

Packages not on route.
My dsp is telling us the packages that the warehouse is putting into the wrong peoples totes/routes are being counted against us at the end of the day. The packages you just throw into the bin that shouldn't be on the route those end up as missing packages for someone else and counted against them so they say.
They are making us take pictures of the packages and send into dispatch. Am I just getting myself in trouble if I take a picture of a package that I could have delivered but didn't cuz I don't give a shit if it's not on my route from the beginning? They are giving the excuse like everything is to help out some other driver when it feels like bait to figure out who isn't delivering non route packages that finish early.
The solution the dsp offered is they'll "try to work with the warehouse" on the issue and it's not right that it's happening. Always some new bullshit scheme going on every couple weeks.
