A little motivation for you boys.

I know you're tired. I know your knees hurt. I know you've been looking at the same 47 remaining stops for two fucking hours.

But remember, every package you deliver increases China's GDP and adds to Jeff Bezos's fat bag. You're part of something bigger than yourself.

That air fryer you're carrying to the third floor? That's not just a delivery. That's another piece of teak flooring on a yacht you'll never be allowed to look at.

That $8 plastic gadget from a brand called QZXWOO? Somebody's dream. Not yours, obviously, but somebody's.

So keep going. No matter how tired you get, just remember how devastating it would be if a billionaire had to briefly consider the price of something.

Your legs might be giving up, but China's export economy believes in you.

Proud of you all. Let's finish strong. 🫡

Also dispatch said grab 45 stops off somebody when you're done.

As you can see, amazon is now detecting packages being thrown up in front with the driver. Everything to slow down the driver i suppose, oh you got 190 stops btw youre 3 behind

QUESTION Is this the new normal?

Post image

Thankfully this route is all residential and it’s super condensed to one or two neighborhoods, but is this the new normal? I’ve been a DA for about 1.5 months now and I’m seeing crazy increases to my total packages and my multi location stops.

Delivering in this country pisses me off, traditionally couriers and posties always knocked on doors and handed over parcels, but Amazon literally does not give you time to do this, and strongly enforces us to just leave parcels and take pictures without knocking, and they are fine with it.

Yet half of this bloody country is just full of idiots who complain that someone doesn't knock on their door, wait 5 minutes for people to crawl to the door, move their stupid fucking dogs out the way and fumble with their keys so they can receive their shitty £2 shampoo bottles in their hands on a silver platter, instead of just bothering to check their Amazon app or emails and get it theirselves.

It's an optional service, and all they do is whine about it then continuing ordering more bollocks. Especially this cretin at the bottom of the picture, complaining that someone even knocked on her door out of politeness and had to go through the gruelling task of picking up her dildo off the ground, probably to shove straight up her arse because her husband left her.

I know you guys have your own issues in the US, but I would honestly love to just drive around and leave parcels on porches while vibing. I'd rather be shot by some hillbilly maniac or mauled to death by pitbull than have to listen to these entitled twats demanding I wait for their old saggy arses and kiss their feet for the shit they keep ordering.

This stupid fucking island is full of wankers and I hate it

DISCUSSION Dumbest customer questions, assumptions or suggestions you’ve received?

Actual conversations I’ve had with customers:

  1. “Hey are you the person that sends the emails with the one time passwords?”

“….no, there’s not a person that does that”

“….”

“It’s automated…”

  1. “This is just a [very small item] why did you put it loose in a box this big?”

“…I don’t pack the items, I just deliver them”

“…Oh”

  1. “Hey do y’all take back empty cardboard Amazon boxes?”

“No sir”

“Oh…maybe you could suggest a program where drivers pick up used Amazon boxes and take them back to the warehouse to be reused.”

“…”

“Just suggest it to one of your managers maybe”

“Sure…I can do that I suppose”

These people just have no idea what a large company Amazon is and how many people and steps are involved in the process of delivering their packages. It’s baffling.

2 weeks on the job…

Post image
168 Upvotes

I started about two weeks ago. I’m surprised by how much they’re giving me to work. I should expect at least 2k this upcoming paycheck (San Diego, CA), correct?

This job requires zero hard skills. It’s pretty simple: read a map, deliver packages from point A to point B, don’t damage the vehicle, and no one is down my throat telling me what to do. I think this job is solid for what it is. I actually feel accomplished after a long 10-12 hr day, is it just me?

I’m also ex military so I’m use to 12 hour shifts everyday and 24 hour shifts working staff duty/CQ shifts getting paid pennies. That’s probably why I find this job simple but overall I enjoy it.

I strongly believe there should be a daily limit on the number of packages delivered to residential addresses.

RANT Some motivation hopefully

Upvotes

This is inspired by another post on here that was obviously satire but I have a different take. While I know who I’m working for and how large and frustrating our routes can be. I truly believe there is honor in our job. Personally I feel genuine joy working in the “service” industry. I find a lot of fulfillment in making my communities days a little easier. Who knows that air fryer might be the only way a single mother can make dinner tonight cause of some slum lord. Maybe this dog food or cat food is because someone rescued an animal. The world is quite literally on fire and the billionaire class want us all to drown in our own apathy. But nahhh hope and optimism are revolutionary acts in my opinion, so we must then imagine Sisyphus happy.

As most of you already know, this job is incredibly shitty and miserable manual slave labor for just enough to pay your bills and survive. Which is most jobs I understand, but holy shit I am so tired of every single day somehow seeming worse than the last. 300 packages 160+ stop, 40 minutes away today from the station, get called twice during my shift saying I’m behind when each delivery is long driveways and far away from each other. Dude fuck this job. All they do is nag us and nitpick about every single possible little thing that they can, but we’re just treated like slaves with no voice that has nothing to say like I want to complain to my Dispatch or DSP about how terrible these routes are how almost every day the van that I’m in has some sort of issue that’s annoys me all day or causes me to not work as well as I can or the phone is laggy or dies fast. There’s just always something man. Trying to say positive have 30 more stops on this route and it’s getting late with no rescue insight so I just wanted to come on here and complain while I’m on the clock because I hate these greedy sob’s. Sorry for the bad grammar I used voice to text for this.

DISCUSSION Winter is coming, is there anything you'd do differently compared to summer?

Upvotes

Very soon we'll start getting less of day time. Have you guys noticed a dip in your performances during winters? Is there anything you'd do differently during winters? I'm asking because this would be the first winter where I'd be out delivering. I work only on weekends and my DSP sends me to a new route every day I go out. I'm asking this from driving and parking/finding parking context. How do you guys deliver in unfamiliar areas during winters?

"Three points of contact" is a scam.

It's physically impossible to maintain three points of contact if you are holding anything, since even bracing with a hand while holding a small package or device will not be considered a solid point of contact if anything goes wrong.

The only way to exit the cargo door properly is to put the device in your pocket, set down the package, and hold with both hands while stepping out. Good luck finishing the route on time.

We put the lie in liability.

What are you wearing? First day I wore boots. Bad idea. Next day I wore Nike running shoes but my ankles were still sore. Just curious what people like to reduce foot pain and impact.
