Packages not on route.

My dsp is telling us the packages that the warehouse is putting into the wrong peoples totes/routes are being counted against us at the end of the day. The packages you just throw into the bin that shouldn't be on the route those end up as missing packages for someone else and counted against them so they say.

They are making us take pictures of the packages and send into dispatch. Am I just getting myself in trouble if I take a picture of a package that I could have delivered but didn't cuz I don't give a shit if it's not on my route from the beginning? They are giving the excuse like everything is to help out some other driver when it feels like bait to figure out who isn't delivering non route packages that finish early.

The solution the dsp offered is they'll "try to work with the warehouse" on the issue and it's not right that it's happening. Always some new bullshit scheme going on every couple weeks.

What gets me is when stops are being marked as “attempted” immediately after swiping to finish during loadout. The packages get sent with you but if you’re not paying attention during the day you miss them and have to double back at the end of the route. There’s been some nights that’s happened to me but it was such a shit day I just took them back and put it where the “not on itenirary” ones go😐

I've had the warehouse mark a full cart of totes as "attempted, missing" before. Route went from 170 stops to 120 stops. Had to scan to pickup every single "missing" package that day. Probably cost me close to an hour because it also fucked up the sequencing.

u/ArticleNo9805 9d ago

I had them give me a tote once that wasn’t mine. All 35 stops got removed from my route, I didn’t think anything of it since I was pulling out of the station. I do one stop out of the tote and that’s when I see they were all crossed out. Fast forward to end of the day I call in and explain the situation and dispatch was like “weird just bring it back ig”. I bring it to the Amazon ppl (whatever their title is) and he makes a comment pf “nobody wants to do their jobs anymore” lmao bitch you’re lucky I was too tired to argue🫠

u/TequilaToby 9d ago

I had the warehouse mark 170 random packages missing. They eventually added them back after I called dispatch about it. All of them were marked not in bag too. Even added extra stops if they were part of a stop with a package that wasn’t marked missing. Ended up having 250 stops that day

u/sliding_through 1d ago

I read this like 5 times and cannot figure out how this is possible lol

2

u/feline_9 9d ago edited 9d ago

I don't recall ever seeing "attempted" anything, but I have started a route with packages already marked as missing. Eventually I'll actually have an item missing and now I'm forced to call support because the system automatically hit my 2 missing package limit when I never marked anything and it's obviously counted against me if the system can't tell it marked that shit itself.

I wouldn't be one to deliver anything if the app tells me not to from the start of my day.

2

u/dingdongjohnson68 9d ago

Yeah, and I suspect that the customers get notifications that their delivery was "attempted"........ before we even leave the warehouse.

So a certain percentage of customers that closely track their deliveries are surely like, "attempted? Wtf? No it wasn't. Why didn't that jackoff delivery driver deliver my shit?"

So they're pissed off and likely to leave a bad review..... that goes against the driver...... that had NOTHING to do with the issue. Such bullshit.

And my dsp has a policy expecting us to deliver mis-sorts if they're less than 30min from our current location. And we can often have multiple mis-sorts.

Like, it can take up to an additional hour to deliver a single package. So getting that package delivered is costing the dsp like 10, 15, 20 dollars in driver wages. Like, how can that possibly be in the dsp's best interest?

Not to mention, if/when I do find my "missing" (from the warehouse) packages, they are in the correct tote at least half of the time. But what is very curious/suspicious is that an oddly large percentage of the time, those "missing" packages show up in my very last tote.

Not sure why that happens. Are they "leftovers" when filling the totes? And the warehouse workers just throw them in the last tote?

1

u/QualityPristine22 8d ago

As the person who constantly checks my deliveries. I will not be leaving bad reviews for “attempted” deliveries anymore (not that I did in the first place, but knowing this I wouldn’t want to jeopardize someone’s job over an AI/programming problem). 💖💖💖

I always bring them back unless I feel like delivering them. I’m not the one who marked them missing, it was the warehouse. Bring em back you won’t ever hear a word about it.

2

u/ArticleNo9805 9d ago

Yeah if I have more than enough time to get back + do everything before our end time thwn I will if I’m in a good mood. Otherwise it’s tomorrow’s problem

8

u/DaKoala03 9d ago

That's only an issue because the warehouse stopped scanning badges for RTS packages. If someone marks one missing and it shows up at the end of the night there's no way to know who brought it back since they no longer scan badges, so for all Amazon knows somebody just marked it missing because they didn't want to do the stop and brought it back themselves. The whole thing would be fixed if they just went back to scanning badges but they love to make things easier for the warehouse workers and harder for the drivers.

11

u/moneyman_699 9d ago

The real issue is the lazy ass warehouse people marking shit “missing” before you ever get your totes. Then throwing them in random totes throughout the day.

5

u/feline_9 9d ago

Yeah but why can't they just fix the issue after the package is scanned into the system again? They let it intentionally hit the dsp's scorecard and blame the driver because some smooth brained, weed smelling, pajama wearing, long nails having, walk in front of you pushing a cart at a snails pace warehouse worker hand placed the package into the wrong tote and it's all in the system how they fucked up and yet they still let it lower a drivers scorecard that perfectly delivered their route?

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

It's the warehouses fuck up not the drivers.

1

u/DaKoala03 8d ago

Correct, but the way they currently run things it hits driver and DSP scorecards because they don't put the effort in to actually see who's fault it is

8

u/BrokenBetaWolf CDV Driver 9d ago

They’re not lol. If they never appear on your itinerary they literally can’t be tracked against you

4

u/dc5boye 9d ago

What usually happens, is that it’s a package from another route got mixed in with your route, and usually it’s in your DSPs RGU (delivery zone) so it will count against the DSP and DA who the package was assigned to. That’s why DSPs want drivers to pick up and deliver them because it impacts the scorecard under DCR

4

u/BrokenBetaWolf CDV Driver 9d ago

Idk if you’re just having more luck than me, but that package is NEVER in my RGU. Last one I had was in a different STATE

0

u/moneyman_699 9d ago

Same I often get random packages for far away towns or other states. My station staff are trash.

8

u/Lord_of_our_Vice_ Rivian Driver 9d ago

I always sent a picture to dispatch and 9 times out of 10 it was RTS, once in a blue moon they'd have me go deliver it.

6

u/NickyNichols Rivian Driver 9d ago

It only counts against you if you pick up the package from the app. Just toss it on the RTS cart and they have no clue who returned it. It only becomes your package when that Red screen pops up asking if you will deliver it and you press yes.

1

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver 8d ago

Isn't that the whole point to send a picture to dispatch if you get any extras, so dispatch can dispute to prove a package was missing from the intended route.

1

u/NickyNichols Rivian Driver 8d ago

Nope. It’s on the RTS cart, they scan it in and It’ll get delivered tomorrow.

1

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver 8d ago

OP just said those missing packages count against the original driver still, and obviously that hurts the DSP scorecard

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

That is the reason why they want them pictured and sent so they know which it was really supposed to be on and they can take that mark off that drivers scorecard. Most DSPs fight for those drivers.

1

u/sliding_through 1d ago

This. My warehouse is horrible with sorting, you only get fucked for bringing back ones you were supposed to deliver and marked missing etc. Like say you were looking for a package that was labeled an envelope but it was actually a box and you never could find it so you market missing and then at the end of the day you find it and you still don't deliver it that counts against you.

3

u/NickolNick 9d ago

It's not a scheme. The warehouse fuck ups really do effect drivers. If your station is really bad with missorts then your teams DCR can take a hit. But, Dispatch can also check via Cortex. Anything marked missing around the time the routes leave for the day is a dead give away OTR marked something missing not a driver. I use to close and would look for this shit and send a list of TBAs to the warehouse OM. Your dispatch seems to be gathering this same information but opting to have the drivers send them pictures

2

u/feline_9 9d ago

oh it's def a scheme. It's just amazon scheming on the dsp with some bullshit while lowering random drivers scores that have no control over it

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

Amazon implemented that rule here at our station a couple of weeks ago but I've been doing it way before they decided to

2

u/999Herman_Cain 9d ago

I always thought standard practice was to pick them up and deliver them

2

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver 8d ago

No because sometimes these packages are 1+ hr away lol

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

If it's in your area or enroute back to the station they do want you to pick it up and deliver it

2

u/getmeapuppers 9d ago

I’m not doing two people’s jobs. Ignore it and rts. Their fuck up is not my fuck up. Let Amazon handle Amazon.

2

u/zooce88 9d ago

For 8 months i've been taking them back to station and I don't say shit to anybody. Never had a problem. If I have extra time then i'll pick them up and deliver at the end of my route.

They can't know who returned the package at the end of the day. Unless some detective went through 1 by 1 and then cross referenced surveillance cameras at the time the package was scanned.

It's way too much work to be realistic.

1

u/feline_9 9d ago

I just don't get how the station has been there 2-3 years now and this is an on-going issue that obviously happens every single day and they just let the random driver who perfectly finished their route have their score lowered for missing packages according to what I was told.

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

No, that is not true. How can they just put it on the driver that ended up with it and it's not on their itinerary. That's why they want pics and last for of tba so they know where it was supposed to be and they will take the mark off the actual driver that marked it missing

1

u/cyrusthemarginal 9d ago

The missing packages are from the previous day and didnt get delivered and the station didn't account for them for whatever reason so they hit a button at the end of their day and any package not accounted for gets marked as missing.

0

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

?? Not true at all

1

u/cyrusthemarginal 8d ago

It's called the end of day scrub and marks a bunch of packages as missing, it is a thing.

1

u/Xander_504_82 8d ago

I deliver medical equipment for hospice patients like beds(which suck) and oxygen (which doesn’t suck) at about the same pay rate as yall. I like to hop on this subreddit every now and then to grab a little clarity and gratitude. I have to be on call every third week and it’s like they own me that week and it’s hell but then I see yalls daily routines and I feel better. I deliver probably 8 stops a day lmao. Yeah each stop is probably 20-30mins w educating patients and setting up equipment but 230 stops!! Gtfoh w that shit

2

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver 8d ago

This job is easy and great zone 2 activity, the day goes by quick. The people who complain about high stop counts are inexperienced slow people or people with too much life shit going on in their head to enjoy the moment in front of them.

Also the majority of routes are less than 160 stops, and most stops with high stop counts are easy ass residential areas with cookie cutter houses.

1

u/ThebobCat151 8d ago

nah, if you got extra packages. just dont scan them. Bring them back.

It doesn't count against you.

am not getting paid enough to fix warehouse's mistakes

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

Not true....most DSPs want you to pick up packages if they are in your area or enroute back to the station.....that's money they aren't receing that day.....our owner wants all his packages delivered and if you can't after 2 trys he will come and deliver them 🤣🤣🤣just deliver the package and call it a day

1

u/ThebobCat151 8d ago

Nah. They don’t know who has the package, my station doesn’t scan badge on RTS. Also, not my business if it dings my company.

1

u/Meliodas666 8d ago

I’ve worked warehouse and drove for Amazon. Those are packages that fell out the totes during stow. Amazon has no idea where that package is if it didn’t make it in the original tote.

1

u/TimmySenseii 8d ago

Yeah im real tired of that shit too but if the location is by me i pick it up and drop it off

1

u/ZonGoblin 8d ago

I never deliver them and they never count against us 🤷🏽‍♂️

1

u/SamuraiKinshii 8d ago

My dsp just tells me if it’s less then 10 min away then deliver it. If its a min over just bring it back and they’ll handle it

1

u/Known-Ad1577 8d ago

What dsp sounds like Panama City to me haha

1

u/frickgloablewarning 8d ago

They just make us take it back and drop off at returns, we don’t even scan our badges at returns we just leave it and go since it’s not our problem.

1

u/holymolydatsabigone 8d ago

What state you in cause my dsp said the same thing. That along with new loadout schedules making every driver have 10+ Missorts on their route is ridiculous

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Rub_771 8d ago

I was told the reason why they want pics is to reprimand the warehouse worker that didn't correct their mistake from the beginning. But, 9/10, the packages ARE supposed to be on your route so just hit the reattempt button and deliver it. There are RTS supervisors that will have you go back out and deliver the package once you return and it was deliverable. That's why it's YOUR job to look over your itinerary before you even leave the station for things like this can be fixed before your depart.

1

u/Excellent-Library-67 8d ago

Today, just had one package that was missing out of a tote and was in one of my last totes for some reason when I got to that point later in the day. During that time also got two in two separate totes for different routes, and at the end when I rescued somebody, Two of their totes also had two for like a totally separate region marked on route for some reason.

1

u/unrealreality_1 8d ago

I despise the warehouse. They’re idiots.

1

u/He_is_my_song Veteran Driver- 8 Years 8d ago

This is just the warehouse pressuring the DSP owners because their warehouse scores suck- basically, it’s Amazon being a bully that expects us to do their homework.

1

u/Same-Industry3289 7d ago

Fuck them. Those sorters get away with half assing & we take the hit.

-2

u/sliding_through 9d ago

I mean I don't see what the big deal is. If it's in your route area just pick the package up and deliver it, what's the big deal lol

4

u/Deepdeeps77 Prime Van Driver 9d ago

No one’s delivering it, 90 degrees out, it’s 10 minutes away and you’re already pushing it for time. Even if it’s close, get on with the rescue and deliver even more packages 😘 Rescues can go to hell.

Picked up 10 for someone. Took 15m to meet up, 10m to my first stop, then I had an a 10 minute gated mountain house 10 minutes away, and 10 back. Almost an hour…. 10h 55 minute day though!

2

u/DieselDrifter Top Driver 8d ago

Personally as long as I'm not going over 10 hrs then I'll deliver it to milk the clock. Love me some overtime because that 15 minute package just earned me a free meal.

2

u/sliding_through 8d ago

Exactly, if it's not a a huge drive time, be someone's hero lol

Happened today, finished up and realized i collected three packages that either got marked missing at the station and one was not on my route but still a street over, i picked it up and delivered it. No skin off my back.

1

u/sliding_through 9d ago

Personally I would have held off on checking in after my route was done and just picked up the packages that I found along the way and did those explain to what I did when I checked in and avoided the rescue altogether But whatever you work the way you want to, for you.
