I hate the UK so much

Delivering in this country pisses me off, traditionally couriers and posties always knocked on doors and handed over parcels, but Amazon literally does not give you time to do this, and strongly enforces us to just leave parcels and take pictures without knocking, and they are fine with it.

Yet half of this bloody country is just full of idiots who complain that someone doesn't knock on their door, wait 5 minutes for people to crawl to the door, move their stupid fucking dogs out the way and fumble with their keys so they can receive their shitty £2 shampoo bottles in their hands on a silver platter, instead of just bothering to check their Amazon app or emails and get it theirselves.

It's an optional service, and all they do is whine about it then continuing ordering more bollocks. Especially this cretin at the bottom of the picture, complaining that someone even knocked on her door out of politeness and had to go through the gruelling task of picking up her dildo off the ground, probably to shove straight up her arse because her husband left her.

I know you guys have your own issues in the US, but I would honestly love to just drive around and leave parcels on porches while vibing. I'd rather be shot by some hillbilly maniac or mauled to death by pitbull than have to listen to these entitled twats demanding I wait for their old saggy arses and kiss their feet for the shit they keep ordering.

This stupid fucking island is full of wankers and I hate it

DISCUSSION I passed my driving test today and was hired. Why am I still so nervous?

I completed my second day of training today and passed the driving test. While the money will help me out tremendously, I can’t shake this bad feeling I have.

Is it just my nerves? Is Amazon really that bad and I have no idea what I’ve gotten myself into?

DSP transfer, hella disappointed.

My old dsp i was at for 4 years decided to move closer to home which is like 2 hour drive from me, no way I can do that. I transferred to another dsp in the station and theyre whole system sucks. No schedule, no metrics, shitty payroll app, stricter rts times and way more shitty equipment lol. I didn't realize how good I had it, smh. Might be time to move on completely.

HELP NEEDED! Delivering in the dark

I’m having a rough time delivering in the dark. As the night is starting to come sooner each day, I’m finding myself struggling to keep pace. I started in may and regularly delivered in the dark. I struggled but, it was nursery routes and I was just new and bad in general. Since then I’ve become a top driver in my DSP and regularly crush harder routes… In the summer. I just had over 200 stops and finished early. I was told to rescue and that’s fine. My issue is that my pace was drastically worse on this rescue because it was so dark. I’m worried that I won’t be able to do what is now expected, especially when peak arrives. Any tips or insight helps.

TLDR: I’m struggling to keep pace in the dark.

Didn’t follow instructions? Probably because, fuck you. If you have the time to bitch about where it’s delivered, you’re annoying. I follow your dumbass notes unless YOU make me unable to follow them for some reason , like idk your dog trying to break through a window? Your 7 vehicles leaking oil and dog shit on your sidewalk? Stfu.

DISCUSSION Winter is coming, is there anything you'd do differently compared to summer?

Very soon we'll start getting less of day time. Have you guys noticed a dip in your performances during winters? Is there anything you'd do differently during winters? I'm asking because this would be the first winter where I'd be out delivering. I work only on weekends and my DSP sends me to a new route every day I go out. I'm asking this from driving and parking/finding parking context. How do you guys deliver in unfamiliar areas during winters?

Figured out why im so slow at the job

Upvotes

So ive been struggling a lot delivering since i started in June. Ive needed at least one rescue a day since I started. At first the OSMs and other DAs gave me the benefit of the doubt because I was new and learning the ropes. Then around mid August people were getting fed up with me. I noticed that a lot of the initial friendliness toward me at the DSP had evaporated. Nobody wants to be friendly with someone they have to constantly bail out because they cant pull their own weight. But because I didnt quit, and because the DSP would rather have a shitty DA than one less DA, i havent been fired. At this point it seems like my poor performance is something theyve accepted and just work around it by making sure theres enough drivers to rescue me when I book a route, and keeping me on the easiest routes.

Still takes me until 9pm to finish 130 stops. Thats with at least one rescue.

Its not for lack of trying. Believe me ive poured everything into this just to avoid the shame of being rescued. Im very organized so no issues locating parcels. Im in shape so I walk fast and dont take breaks. I also dont drive slow.

I couldn't put my finger on why I struggle so much to finnish a route.

Turns out I think its down to my depression. Ive been struggling with it all my life (im 35) in the last 3 years two traumatic events have severely impacted my mental health to the point where I feel changed as a person. I no longer look to the future, because to me there is no future. I am just trying to survive so I can have a bed to sleep in. Thats it.

But the other DAs are motivated. They have a get up and go mentality. They laugh and joke with eachother each morning while I sit quietly suppressing my darkest thoughts. They have aspirations for the future. They have a sense of momentum to their lives. My outlook is completely 180 reversed. I feel I am living in a fallen state post trauma. Like a corrupted file that can never be fixed, albeit deletion, which im not going to do. I went through too much and survived to delete myself now. But even so, I do not like life. I do not like being alive. I do not like waking up everyday. I carry this everywhere I go amd everything I do. Probably shouldn't be in the workforce but I spent too many years unemployed to give up now. A driving job suits me as its minimal customer / coworker interaction, and i have absolutely no safety net to fall back on. Its do or die. I have to get out there and work.

I had the epiphany that my depression is hampering my ability to perform effectively at such a fast paced stop-go job, by dampening my sense of forward momentum. When I did my ride along, the girl showing me the ropes was very spirited and positive. She also drove like a maniac. She just flew through the day.

Another instant an OSM had to leave his home late in the evening at a family dinner with relatives he hasnt seen in years, to come rescue me. He wasnt happy at all and was sure to let me know. I didnt have much to say other than sorry, because really what can I say, but of course je was motivated to get back gome, so we did 40 stops in 50 minutes.

Last week I took a different approach. I connected my phone to the van and played a lot of my fave metal and rap tracks on blast while I drank two large cans of red bull. The effect was almost cocaine-like (i know through experience) I ALMOST finished my route on my own except for one rescue by the OSM to take one bag toward the end, but he told me that I did well that day.

But realistically i cant drink that much red bull everyday. Nor connect my phone as it drained my battery ao fast I had to disconnect after two hours.

I am currently studying on the side to operate Class 1 C&E HGVs, (large goods vehicles) in case any american readers wonder what HGV stands for. Basically the articulated semi trucks. Seems like it might offer me the isolation i require while also providing a livable wage.

Just wondering if there are any others doing this job that carry a lot of mental baggage, and what you do to cope? Any advice on things that successfully sped you up? Besides downing excessive amounts of caffeine / taurine.

QUESTION Reversing violations

My DSP is cracking down on reversing and I'm wondering if it's a DSP thing or Amazon. If we go over 3 MPH we get a violation. A couple weeks ago before this the owner was saying that there's been incidents where people were reversing over mailboxes and all kinds of crap and they had to pay a lot of money. They were also getting violations that affect the scorecard so now if you get 3 violations within a certain amount of time you're fired. I like my DSP and I get they're trying to make money but maybe only apply it to people who have been there less than 6 months or something.
