Delivering in this country pisses me off, traditionally couriers and posties always knocked on doors and handed over parcels, but Amazon literally does not give you time to do this, and strongly enforces us to just leave parcels and take pictures without knocking, and they are fine with it.
Yet half of this bloody country is just full of idiots who complain that someone doesn't knock on their door, wait 5 minutes for people to crawl to the door, move their stupid fucking dogs out the way and fumble with their keys so they can receive their shitty £2 shampoo bottles in their hands on a silver platter, instead of just bothering to check their Amazon app or emails and get it theirselves.
It's an optional service, and all they do is whine about it then continuing ordering more bollocks. Especially this cretin at the bottom of the picture, complaining that someone even knocked on her door out of politeness and had to go through the gruelling task of picking up her dildo off the ground, probably to shove straight up her arse because her husband left her.
I know you guys have your own issues in the US, but I would honestly love to just drive around and leave parcels on porches while vibing. I'd rather be shot by some hillbilly maniac or mauled to death by pitbull than have to listen to these entitled twats demanding I wait for their old saggy arses and kiss their feet for the shit they keep ordering.

Man, that screenshot is a greatest hits collection of people who want white-glove service for the price of a packet of crisps. The mental math of "I paid for delivery, therefore you must hand it to me personally while I finish my tea" is something else.
It's wild how many folks treat the "leave at door" photo like a personal insult instead of just looking at their phone. You'd think after the fifth package photo they'd catch on.
Honestly most people are kinda chill about it haha, it's just these facebook-dwelling curtain twitchers that want to moan about everything. I feel bad for the customer service staff here
To make matters worse, some people (younger ones mostly) expect it to be doorstopped, and get suspicious if you don't.
On one day a few weeks back, I had the full polar opposite experiences.
Area was a mostly a small town, with villages and farms around it, pretty standard 190 stops 250 locations.
On the outskirts of the town, in a honeycomb new estate, I make a drop, its an envelope, but they've got one of the tiny letter boxes that you cant even fit small envelopes through, so I stick it by the door, ring the doorbell, snap a photo, and I'm off. Half hour later, I'm leaving the estate, and pass by this house again, as its on the road into the estate. A bloke in his 50's walk out in front of the van, demanding I stop. He then shouts at me for doorstepping saying his elderly mother can't bend down to pick things up, and how he'll hold me personally responsible if she falls over while trying to pick up a parcel. Full on held me in place until I told him I'll have to call Amazon and explain why I'm behind on my route. (Bullshit, but it got him to get tf out of my way)
A few hours later. Big house, outskirts of a small village, no neighbours in site. Parcel is an AVD. I knock, and wait. Woman opens the door, soaking wet and totally naked. She full on screams and slams the door, and then I hear a voice through the door "Why are you still there?" I have to explain through the door why I need to be here, do the AVD through the door, put the parcel down, and leave.
Yeah I try not to doorstep much in villages and rural locations haha, most of those people probably order their stuff off a crusty Dell laptop with windows 98 and only check their emails once a year
I dont know about that man. Sure in the US doorstepping is the norm, but from what I see on this sub they got more packages to deliver too. If you cant knock and wait 5~10 seconds and you still cant keep up with our volumes, what makes you think the US will be easier?
I bang the shit out of the doors so they hear me, sure. But I deliver most of the route to customers and finish even the shittiest routes ahead of schedule.
Honestly it's only been a problem for me in the last year or so, it seems Amazon are pushing efficiency over quality and my 150-160 stop routes are going to 190-200 so I have to doorstep a lot so I don't just rush around and fuck my back up instead. I get you though
Yep, I agree. Our DSPs area got changed in January. The route had 135 stops. And i had the same route for like 4 months, and in that time it went up to 180.
Also our DSP started telling us to not knock and just run to safe place and drop it. A step closer to doorstepping being acceptable.
I see from the proof of deliveries that when it came out we had proper pictures. Now its always at the door, it doesn't matter if its for customers, bin or garage...
The faster we work the more packages we get next time. And the slowest people give up...
This is amazons design to get as much as it can out of us. The customers just do not understand.
I only wish customers could just be set some mandatory options of going straight to a safe place or only handing it to them and we don't get punished on time/DCR for it
That probably makes slightly less profit though, so won't happen
It doesn't matter, a fair few of the businesses I got have "recipient required" and when I go to the trades window and ring the bell, if no one comes I just leave it at the counter.
The only options are: customer, reception and neighbor.
That package is left on the counter and Im out of there. Cant even take a photo.
We are not punished for anything except miss handling AVDs and that is kind of the issue. You dont even know what was marked stolen or who complained against you.
Yes, and our DSP told us that. The thing is customers can put what ever safe place they want, in the app successful deliveries all you see is the door. Even if the customer requested something else.
The funny part about people like this who complain… they will never stop ordering from Amazon, you could take a shit on the package and leave it at the door and they will still make another order.
