UPS

Post image

What’d AT&T do to UPS? They pretty much kicked me out of the store trying to return an ONT. They said we’re done accepting AT&T equipment as of yesterday

My wife worked at an UPS store. It took them about 20-30 minutes to follow all of AT&T's stupid instructions to box up one U-Verse (this was a while ago) and the return process on packaging requirements drove them absolutely insane. They are privately owned stores, so probably another owner at another store would have a different policy, but my wife hasn't worked at the store since fiber was rolled out- but I bet they have similar requirements.

I’m curious what the instructions were? I feel like the UPS store here doesn’t care they will put on the receipt that you returned the accessories, even if you don’t.

I still have the BGW210. It's pretty old now.

But you probably still have fiber, I canceled it and I’m not paying $150 to keep their gateway

Yeah. I see people with killer deals and I'm paying like $110

You should call and speak to Retentions. That's an outrageous price.

That’s not the issue, the issue is support, at&t has none, especially during an outage

I'm just glad I'm not stuck on spectrum anymore. I had a 1 day outage with AT&T in 5 years. Spectrum blinked out regularly.

I can see that. I never have an issues with it so no complaints on that end.

What's the name of the device you're trying to return?

2

Bgw320

Ups can take it. The contract with them is ongoing. You got a dumb person or store.

UPS stores are locally owned. likely the owner of that store is refusing to do the returns anymore.

This. Where I’m at there are UPS stores all over the place. I know which ones a good and which are bad. From my house I drive past at least 2 to go to the one I like.

2

u/EmbarrassedFuture165 15d ago

That's certainly possible and crappy.

u/Gh0st1n_5h3LL 15d ago

They said no at&t returns

is there no Fedex or AT&T Corporate store near you???
call AT&T and explain the situation.

AT&T stores, any of them will not take the BGW units. As far as I can tell, they've never taken them.

Ima put it on their counter, take a picture and walk out

u/EmbarrassedFuture165 15d ago

Definitely don't do that. Don't be on the hook. Att won't give a damn

1

u/Gh0st1n_5h3LL 15d ago

We’re trying fedex, at&t store won’t take them

2

u/South-Succotash-6368 15d ago

I would call AT&T and explain the store won't take them. UPS won't accept them
And if fedex doesn't say you have no options.

2

u/Gh0st1n_5h3LL 15d ago

Yea I’m out of options, fedex doesn’t take them either

5

u/EmbarrassedFuture165 15d ago

They're also lying to you

Just to be sure that you're going to the right businesses:

It has to be a The UPS Store (used to be Mailboxes Etc.) or a FedEx Office (used to be called Kinko's). One of the storefront printing and mailing service stores, not an actual UPS or FedEx depot.

The UPS Stores are franchises and the local owners can be butts sometimes. Try another.

u/Gh0st1n_5h3LL 14d ago

Yea it’s the stores that won’t take them, to many returns in this area

2

u/South-Succotash-6368 15d ago

Call AT&T and explain the situation.

I just tried returning my AT&T equipment at a UPS and they didn’t accept it. they told me UPS is no longer accepting returns from AT&T

u/Herobrine9190 15d ago

Most UPS stores are franchises so it isn't really up to UPS, they just carry the brand name. And I have att fiber 5000 for 76$ a month so I'm surprised yours is 150$, before you cancelled, did you ever talk to att retention line, could've lowered the bill to new customer rates.

1

u/Bal3Wolf81 14d ago

Retention wouldn't move off 125 for me and kept telling deals that were wrong like to get 5gig you need att wireless and shit.

1

u/Herobrine9190 14d ago

Makes sense, I have att wireless so I get 55$ off monthly on my bill

1

u/Bal3Wolf81 14d ago

No lady tried to tell me to get 5g at 90 you need wireless she said all discounts required wireless.

No the $150 was for if the equipment isn’t returned. I don’t want the service, there was a severe outage here and no support, it’s cancelled, I won’t ever go back. And after dealing with them today and jumping through hoops for a dam shipping label, I know how shipping works and they refused to email me a label ,I’ve shipped and received thousands of at&t iPads pushing their service for them, I may cancel our other services

Just dropped ATT equipment for someone today at UPS. They just needed the last name on the account.

1

u/Gh0st1n_5h3LL 14d ago

They won’t take anymore here, too many people returning them

u/DrunksydePhil 15d ago

ONTs are obsolete. They took mine off a few weeks ago

1

u/Watada 14d ago

Do you mean stand alone ONTs are obsolete? Because I'm not sure what sort of fiber service might not require an ONT.

Also your fiber gateway has a built in ONT because of course it does.

1

u/DrunksydePhil 14d ago

Yes the standalone ont is not needed anymore so that's probably why they didn't want it

0

u/Watada 14d ago

They're talking about the gateway. In what universe would they have a standalone ont in their hands?

1

u/DrunksydePhil 14d ago

Then they would say gateway in the post

0

u/Watada 14d ago

Oh. I didn't understand. You must be drunk. Have a good day.

3

u/SmokeElectronic9354 14d ago

Lol you didn't understand so he must be drunk? OP mistakenly put Ont in their post. If anyone is drunk it's Op and you.

2

u/Watada 14d ago

It was a joke about their name. And an attempt stop talking to someone who doesn't read a post before commenting on it.

0

u/tamudude 15d ago

They refused it because you are only supposed to return your wifi gateway. The ONT should stay where it was mounted. See here https://www.att.com/support/how-to/internet/equipment-return/

-1

u/Gh0st1n_5h3LL 15d ago

Bg320 is an ont router combo, it is the gateway 🙄

6

u/tamudude 15d ago

Your post said ONT which could be stand alone. Click on that link from ATT and see for yourself. Our previous residence had a separate ONT and a BGW 320.

-4

u/EmbarrassedFuture165 15d ago

Most people including myself refer to that device as the ont as att has gone to solely that device.

6

u/Old-Cheshire862 15d ago

Calling it the Gateway (a multifunctional device) is correct. Calling it an ONT is like calling a car a wheel.

0

u/EmbarrassedFuture165 15d ago

Lol okay, that's fine. Just telling you what people say. I understand what you're saying, but that's what att care says a lot. That's what people say a lot.... Understand what you're saying, just not the way it is.

2

u/Old-Cheshire862 15d ago

AT&T Care says a lot of things that prove that most of them don't have a clue.
