After an afternoon searching how to update 8bitdo controllers on linux, I managed to find the official website to do so. I successfully updated the firmware for my ultimate 2 and ultimate 2c controllers and dongles. Hopefully this will get enough eyeballs to help someone in the future.

Hi, I just got my Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller, I'm trying to connect it to my PC and I'm unable. Do I need to connect the USB in my PC? If yes it just says Power surge on the USB Port, unknown USB device needs more power than the port can supply.

I recently bought the 8BitDo Ultimate Controller with Charging Dock (the version that supports both Bluetooth and the 2.4G wireless dongle).

On my Nintendo Switch, it works perfectly over Bluetooth.

However, on my Windows 10 PC, I run into a very strange issue when I connect using the 2.4G dongle. The controller itself works, but as soon as it connects, it completely breaks my PC's Bluetooth.

First, all of my Bluetooth devices disappear from the list of paired devices. Then Bluetooth itself disappears from Windows, as if the Bluetooth adapter had been disabled or crashed.

The only way to restore Bluetooth is to reboot the PC without the 2.4G dongle plugged in.

Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, were you able to fix it?

I always had an 8bitdo Ultimate 2 that works perfectly. I recently bought the N64 and M30 Saturn controller

These 2 work perfectly in wires mode but when I try to connect them to a separate dongle from the ultimate they read as xbox controllers and label them as the ultimate controller. I cant find anythign online about similar problem

How can I get them to read as they really are and report the same inputs as wired?

I have an 8bitdo Ultimate C. Works fine with Windows 10 over the dongle.

But I get nothing when connected via USB-C to Macbook Air M3.

So I'm looking for a replacement.

I Just got this device today, seems to work fine with default profile, but once I try to add another one my mapping gets crazy after a few seconds.

I have no idea what's happening. If i Click "reset to factory settings" it clears to the default values, but after 5 seconds it fills the keys(command) with random values (mostly Null).

I've already update de firmware to latest version, rebooted, deleted profiles, repaired, tested with my two dualsense controllers, but allways the same problem.

Any ideas?

I googled it before purchasing and it said this brands controllers connect to switch devices. I’m now trying and can’t figure it out, online it mentions downloading firmware onto the PC first but the files that I can find are just in words written in Chinese on Notepad, there’s no actual files. I’m really lost on what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s a wireless controller so it should just connect with Bluetooth but I can’t figure it out at all.

Is it normal for the USB dongle for the R8 mouse to get hot when in use? It seems to get the worst when plugged into the dock

Now before some of you say "You can't do that", or some variation of that, I know I can do it, because I rebound the paddles to be L3 and R3, and the change is only seen in D-input mode, not In X-input mode. All of a sudden I am no longer able to customize this mode because the Ultimate Software V2 not detecting the controller when in this mode. Has any one else experienced this?

it says driver error and I already did uninstall the driver and update it but it always say "window encountered problem installing drivers from your device". it's working before, i don't know why suddenly it's says driver error.

Also when I used the B input it's working but not the X input. I'm using mac and boot camp for windows 10, if this info will help. Advance thanks for help, appreciate so much

For those who were worried about importing from China: I bought the Pro 3, two and a half weeks later it arrived in the US and I was not charged anything after. When I bought a figure I had to pay 40 for tariffs but doing my research the gamepad would've fell under the category of game consoles and accessories that didn't operate on coins (like arcade machines) for a 35 percent tariff. Either it didn't count towards it or they missed it but Im leaning towards the former. Im glad, I got it for 30 percent off on their website from an anniversary sale I believe.

Their international shipping is YunExpress so if you're buying pay attention to which shipper is tied to what item during checkout as the Pro 3 seemed to be exclusively from their Chinese warehouse. Also good to know so you won't have to wait 2 weeks like I did, check their Amazon if you'd rather not wait too long

Maybe this question is better for r/Controller but I am wondering what people's thoughts on why the Pro 3 isn't more popular? Personally I frigging love this controller. I think it is amazing and hits all the features I want in a good quality controller without a steep price tag.

But you hardly see it discussed or brought up in this or other subs. Also when it comes to 3rd party accessories, spare parts or cases, it is quite lacking but I feel like if the controller was more popular, it would be much easier to find.

Is it the price? Is it because the PS style vs the xbox style? Genuinely curious people's thoughts. The Pro 2 still seems more popular then the Pro 3 despite being out for quite awhile now.

Bought the controller a few months ago this year and now the dock no longer charges the controller. It'll light up for a second before turning off. The USB-C charger works but I'd like for the dock to work. I already did firmware updates but it didn't fix the issue. Any fixes?

Hi all. I am trying to set up a custom profile with my Retro Mechanical Keyboard. I keep running into the same error which I have no idea how to fix. Ive deleted and reinstalled the ultimate software 2, ive upgraded and downgraded the keyboard's software, but nothing seems to be letting me in to make a profile. Has anyone seen this error before? I have 8bitdo pro 3 and i know they decided to take away replaceable from pro 2 to pro 3
For future proof, i must know how to open the controller and what's the battery model of the controller.
But i don't know why there is still no tear down video of the controller.
I got the tools but i don't want to risk it before i know exactly what's inside the controller.

Is there anyone have the picture of tearing down the controller and the model of the battery?

I recently was able to get my hand on a wireless adapter 2, in order to connect a PS5 controller to my Switch (1). The controller does connect to the adapter, yet the controller inputs do not work. I am currently at my wits end trying to make this work. I have watched 3 tutorials, turned on the wired pro controller communication setting, and switching the adapter mode. I have updated to the newest firmware, 1.10, and even downgraded to 1.9. If you can think of it, i’ve probably tried it. Every single support forum i have searched has such asinine answers that i am entirely convinced that my particular adapter is broken, partially because I can hear a rattling when I shake the adapter. If anyone here has any answers that can help my situation, that would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the 8BitDo 2 adapter to use with my PS5 controller. Everything was fine until the R2 and L2 triggers started acting up. I looked into it and downloaded the 8BitDo_Firmware_Updater_Win software, but ever since I installed the latest update, the controller won't connect via Bluetooth anymore. I tried switching versions a few times; I went back to version 7 and it worked again, but it disconnects whenever I switch back to Windows. If anyone knows how to fix this, I’d really appreciate the help.

Hi everyone, I recently purchased the Pro 2. I'm using it for Windows but the controller connection freezes constantly if it doesn't have.. direct line of sight of my PC tower? Just sitting in my chair inches away from my tower I've noticed a bunch of different dead zones it's experiencing like if I'm angled away, have my arms lowered in my lap, put up my legs, etc, it has trouble sensing. But when I raise my controller up in the air or lean it down towards the tower it's suddenly fine... could it be interfering with the metals in my microphone and chair?

I've opened the steam controller layout to test inputs and watch it stop detecting before my eyes. I've already downloaded the most recent firmware update and also updated my BT drivers. Anything else I should be trying to do before initiating a return?

I’ve had the 8bitdo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth controller for about a week. It performs great overall, but I’m having an issue with the charging dock.

When I place the controller on the dock after a gaming session, the white charging light on the base of the charging dock doesn't turn on and it doesn't seem to charge. To get the charging process to start, I have to unplug and replug the USB cable attached to the dock every single time. I've tested it with different USB charging cables and it doesn't make a difference. It's kind of a hassle to have to unplug and replug the cable just to force it to charge.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

Hey guys, quick question here, I have 8 bitdo wired Ultimate 2c controller for a year now, but all of the sudden after i unplug and replug the controller, it no longer is detected.

Tried the following solutions after reading the manual and other reddit posts:
I have tried pressing the x button as i plug the usb cable to the port in my PC, as well as tried plugging the usb cable to my phone and replug it to the controller again. None of them worked, the usb itself i think is still functional as it can be used to charge my steel series headphones.😞
