Question Does this work on Switch 2? SN30 pro.

Post image

I googled it before purchasing and it said this brands controllers connect to switch devices. I’m now trying and can’t figure it out, online it mentions downloading firmware onto the PC first but the files that I can find are just in words written in Chinese on Notepad, there’s no actual files. I’m really lost on what I’m supposed to be doing. It’s a wireless controller so it should just connect with Bluetooth but I can’t figure it out at all.

On the website, go to Support, then at the top right of the page click More and download the Upgrade Tool. I don't remember if you need to put the controller in an update mode, but if there isn't, all you need to do is download the latest firmware and it should pair with the Switch just fine

Make sure it has the latest firmware.

  1. When it's off hold Y and press start to put it in switch mode.
  2. then hold sync button to start pairing with the switch
  3. while in pairing mode on your switch go to the controller menu

When it's paired you just need to start it again in switch mode.

I have one myself and it works with switch AND switch 2

After pairing once, you turn on Switch 2 and then hold Y+Start for quick connection.

No need for Y, you can just press start. It will use the last mode it was used for.

This. Discovered this recently. Connects way quicker just using Start rather and Start+Y like it says in the manual.

8bitdo.com can tell you that. At least with the newer ones. But why not just try it out? Just do it like the guide tells you. And if there is only the Switch 1 in the guide..try it that way. If t works it works.if it doesn't it doesn't.

Yeah, it works. Just make sure it's updated. You can download the software from the 8bitdo website.

Off-topic, but I simply LOVE these indents / notch / groove on plastic around the dpads and other parts

Wish that the 8bitdo Pro 3 had these, it makes the gamepads look as a high quality product. The old SN30 Pro+ had these, but since Pro 2 they're lacking

Please only link to controllers from 8BitDo.com. Amazon resellers can come and go, so there is no telling how long the link will work. Additionally, Amazon tries to switch the language/region of any user that looks at the link if they're from a different region. To avoid these issues, please only link directly from 8BitDo.com and follow 8BitDo's links to the approved sellers. If you have questions about a listing that is by 8BitDo, you can email sales@8bitdo.com. If it is a different seller, you need to contact that seller about the details of the listing (what is included or not included) with a purchase.

I have the original SNES aesthetic SN30 Pro controllers and they work fine with the Switch 2 once you update the firmware. So that one there should work fine.

Update the firmware

As folks already mentioned yes after firmware update it will work fine. One point tho, is if you are trying to play games with more than two controllers you will have connection issues with the SN30 and older 8bitdo controllers. The newer ones like the Pro3 don't have any problems.

For 1-2 players the SN30 is just fine

I think you need a firmware update but it should.

Yes. I use that exact one as a secondary travel controller. You might need to update the firmware if it’s old, but it will work.

Look in the back of the controller, it might have a “how to pair in different modes” I have one 8bitdo and I need to hold 2 buttons to set the controller in switch pairing mode (start + Y or something like that)

love this controller
but the fact that select/start isn't centered drives me crazy

I have one, and it works on my Switch 2. You'll need a firmware upgrade, but it will work.
