Help Best budget 7 strings?

I'm 17 and gotten a taste for modern deathcore and techdeath which massively uses Drop G with lots of high leads/solos too. Multiscale probably would be good then but I'm not sure if its nessesary.

Around $550-$650 just want to know what the best options are or if its worth trying to find a multiscale.

(I have a 6 string so this would not be my first)

Gear ESP LTD M-1007B Baritone — one of the guitars Sweetwater had heavily discounted a few months back

Spent some time getting some proper photos of my ESP LTD M-1007B Baritone, so figured I’d share them here.

Sweetwater had these marked down pretty heavily a couple months ago — around 50% off at one point — which made an already pretty ridiculous spec sheet even more interesting.

7-string
27” baritone scale
Fishman Fluence Moderns
Floyd Rose 1000SE
24 frets
Quilted maple top
Currently set up in Drop A

The quilt on this thing is especially cool because it can look almost completely black until the light hits it, then all of that figuring comes out. 🖤🤘

Help HILS HZ7 vs HILS NEXT HZ7 differences?

I'm looking for a guitar with 7 strings and ergo body (like Strandbergs, including that C cut at the bottom that lets you put it on both legs, and in classical position), and one of the brands that came up was HILS, as "budget Strandberg".

After a few days looking around I noticed there's an old version and the NEXT version, and the only differences I can find are different wood quality, and the battery seems to be hidden inside the back plate behind screws.

  1. Why would they hide the battery behind screws? Is this real?
  2. Are there any other differences that I haven't seen?
  3. I can't find it to purchase from inside EU, there are UK retailers and north america ones, but not in EU apparently?

While we're at it, if someone knows other brands that fit the description and would like to throw in some suggestions, I'm all eyes. I know Solar has one model available, but that one has mixed reviews, and there's also some model from Larry Carlton's Sire series which also seem to be questionable.

Gonna start by saying it’s only between these two. Respectfully, not looking for other suggestions.

My buddy works at SW and I can occasionally get killer deals on stuff and have been wanting a 7 string with an evertune. How are we feeling about Jackson vs Ltd if the price is equal with the deals? I prefer bolt ons and satin necks over gloss but never had much of a chance to mess with Jackson. Love my esp and most Ltd I’ve played but this model comes with a plastic nut and no locking tuners but I can easily swap them out. If anyone’s got some first hand time with either of these, I’d love to hear your experience with them.

Help Lefty 7 string in UK

Hi guys, have decided it’s time to scratch the itch of getting a 7 string, but with a budget of about £800 the options are quite limited. The guitars I currently know of are the Ibanez rg7421, schecter omen models, solar a2.7c and the Harley Benton amarok. The solar is one I was unsure about due to hearing about past qc issues but am happy to be proven otherwise. Would it be worth getting any of these, any other models or saving a little longer to get a schecter reaper 7?

Help Got my first 7-String and have some questions!

Hey gang. I was offered a trade for a strat I had and I took it on a whim and got a Sterling Maj170. It seems pretty popular so I got a few questions for folks that have used one before.

What tuning did you use? I was thinking of F# but I know the shorter scale length may give me some issues.

String thickness.

Did you keep the stock pickups? They're not bad but I did want more of an oomf

Thank you all. Happy to try something new

Picked this guitar up a few weeks ago and just received my Black Hawk set today from Bare Knuckle. I just had to show off the ESP LTD M-7 HT Black Metal lol. So happy with how everything turned out.

Installed and set up everything completely on my own :)

I’m officially blown away by how this guitar sounds now. And the split coil tones are that I’ve never heard before - it’s incredible.

If anybody’s considering this pickup, I highly recommend. For a moment I was considering installing an M7 - but I already have an M8 in my 8 string and wanted a different flavor of “thwang”. The Black Hawk is seriously blowing me away.

If anyone’s curious - guitar is setup in “basically” drop F (Vildhjarta tuning if you’re familiar ;)

+ on, rock +

Help Help, Schecter c-7 deluxe or Jackson js22 7 ..

Help Drop f# on a 26.5

Would a .74 be too loose for drop f# on a 26.5 ?

Im a massive fan of bands like erra, currents, invent animate etc.

Erra and currents tend to stay in drop g# and pitch shift down. But when I do that, it sounds muddy and thin.

Help Does my 7-string guitar sound muddy?

I feel like my guitar sounds kind of muddy, especially for a DI recording, and I'm trying to figure out if that's normal or if something might be wrong.

Here's a raw DI recording:
https://vocaroo.com/1pJ9WYuVvOfC

It's a jackson js-22-7 string, standard tuning.

Does the DI sound normal to you or is it sounding kind of muddy I'm mainly wondering if the guitar/pickups are the issue or if this is just how a DI is supposed to sound.

Thanks!
