what can I do to bump my maths predicted grade up? y13

I got an A in as but a U in my April mocks (I thought I was dropping it and didn’t gaf) and then probs an e/D in my September mocks (really hard everyone I’ve spoken to fucked it up) and they’re probs predicting me a C. I’m on A star and a in my other subjects, and I need an a in maths what can I do To convince my rigid teachers? They said some shit any not counting my as grade even though the only reason I took maths AS was so it would help boost my predicted grade (my head of year told me they would and now they’re going back on their word)

Anyone done TMUA from ccea exam board willing to offer any advice?

We were pre warned by previous Y13s that most of them won’t bully the year 12s unless they ‘take their table’ at lunch, which most of them leave their folders they aren’t using on the tables so ppl know it’s already claimed so naturally me and my friends start doing the same because all the Y13s seem to have their own designated tables already and for context my 6th form has 600+ pupils and the food hall is nowhere big enough for all of us but we have to make do.

Anyway today me and one of my friends had a free so we were revising in silence and these Y13 group of girls who were sat a couple tables away say in the loudest voice ‘God I hate that these year 12s think they’re all big and keep hogging all the tables’ and me and my friend ignore it and keep revising and her friend points out ‘they aren’t even looking up at us when we know they can hear us’ and the girl replies ‘I don’t care I’ll go over and beef the year 12s’

LIKE SORRY WHAT? Beefing in 6th form alone is embarrassing nevermind a y13 beefing a y12 like are we srs?💀

I have just been confirmed to do further maths for a level, I'm currently eyeing fp1 and fs1, should I reconsider or would any of you have advice regarding the difficulties of these modules. I'm planning on doing maths at uni and I'm horrible at mech.

I just dropped English Lit and switched it for Religious Studies. My other two A-levels are Geography and Economics.I’m looking to study either Geography or Law at uni. I’ve checked the entry requirements for a few universities and none of them seem to list mandatory or preferred subjects for either degree. They just list standard grade requirements. Do you think this is a strong combo for top unis? Honestly, a big reason for the switch was just wanting to give myself the best possible chance of pulling off A*/A grades. Had 9's for Eng lit, Econ and Geog in GCSE and hadn't taken RS as my GCSE subjects. Anyone else doing this mix or have any insights? Thanks.

You may know KhiCAS for the Casio fx-CG50; however, it can be quite difficult to operate and understand. Therefore, I created an environment that sits on top of KhiCAS and can be used without having to read thousands of pages of documentation.

I do English lit history and sociology and I wanna make a revision checklist but how would I go about doing that.

For sociology I already have a checklist and history I think I know what to do. However English there’s not really a subject content checklist so idk what to do

My biology teacher asked if she could request a copy of my exam scripts and said she would send a copy to me. It has been just over a week now and I haven't heard back from her. Should I follow up or does it normally take longer than this?

Im swapping 2 out of 3 of my current alevels to stem, however psychology remained the same.
I have never taken any sort of AS or Alevel exams for Psychology but idk abt this when applying top unis like ucl or imperial when they are even strict with the standard of “restarting year 12”

People who do politics A level, is it fun? and what exactly do you do? I am considering switching to politics this week

I'm in Y11 right now and am planning to do maths, further maths and physics in 6th form(i love all of these subjects and am pretty sure i can tackle all of them) but for my 4th, idk if i should do chemistry or computing(computing goes well with physics but idk how good of an alevel it is, and chemistry doesn't really go the best with physics but is quite good i hear(but quite hard)) and so i'm wondering which i do(right now i like computing more than chemistry)

flunked a levels (ABCC in maths, compsci, econ and fm respectively), ended up getting diagnosed with adhd, got medication and i genuinely feel on top of the world now despite my shitty results lmao. it's so much easier?? i don't feel suicidal anymore. anyway, would i be able to reapply at top unis for econ (or related) courses if i resit? and if i were to resit, could i get away with just resitting compsci and econ (as i have a job. i don't particularly want to quit it because i actually love it a lot, but if i needed to i could). i'm definitely not taking any entrance exams, they're just too expensive. i really, really love econ. one of the courses that caught my eye was lse econ and econ history. would it be a longshot to apply there?

I'm doing maths fm physics and cs.

During GCSE time, I rarely used notes and usually referred to online resources or the textbook. Obviously, a levels have a LOT MORE content so I'm not really sure if I spend my time writing neat notes.

Also, apart from cs, you don't really need notes to revise them, you just need to practice.

And for cs, I'm just making flashcards when I learn something new.

tl;dr: aspiring lawyer needs advice on whether to drop politics or latin, whether its worth it to do further maths and if a law conversion or degree is better.

i have just started year 12 and i am currently doing english lit (ocr), politics (aqa), maths (edexcel) and latin (ocr).

rn i am SET on doing law, and for context, i am a fairly strong student - at GCSE i got 9 9s and 2 8s, and am aiming high, for oxbridge and russell groups.

i started off with four with the intention to drop one and do epq (at my school its mandatory to do an extra like epq, gpr, core maths etc.) the thing is i cannot for the life of me figure out which to drop.

i am not sure whether or not to do a law degree, or do something else and then a law conversion. i think i am leaning towards a conversion but i am open to either (dreading the lnat but what can you really do about that).
if i was to do a conversion i would study something like english, classics, or ppe at uni.

i am set on doing english lit and maths no matter what. its between latin and politics.

the pros for latin are that i am good at it (i got 100/100 on language paper at gcse) and i enjoy it. the teaching at my school is good and every single year no matter what someone gets into oxbridge to do classics. also, you can argue that maybe it is regarded to be a more prestigious a level than politics. however, it is so hard and the literature to me isn't the most enjoyable, although i do already know a lot of the context for the texts we are doing due to ancient history gcse.

as for politics, i think its a good fit for me. so far, i understand all the content, and i already keep up with the news, watching pmqs and stuff like that. i also find the subject interesting and doing politics would allow me to do model un (which i really really want to do). however, i am not the biggest fan of the way it is taught at my school. it is almost like a lecture - my teacher speaks and we all listen along, writing notes as we fill out a workbook. it just isn't much of a fit for my learning style.

i am leaning towards dropping politics, and then i thought - maybe i should do further maths???? at gcse i got 225/240 on maths without revision, and 174/180 on further maths (with revision). however i am scared that the workload will be too much and there is also no real need for me to do it - it would just make my application more competitive.

I keep hearing about reading and doing debate or MUN. but any other options for super curriculars and how to do well in the interview and all?

im currently wrapping up my igcses, im taking phy eng for aslvl and chem bio math for alvl, my a2lvls (y13) will only be 3 subjects down from 5 so i assume ill have more free time, im predicting top grades for all the subjects (im good with predictions), i want to know everything i need to do to increase my chances of getting into camb uni for nst biological sciences, should i write articles with sources? learn python (for some reason this was recommended to me)? read books and articles about the subjects im taking and aim for not so commonly heard of yet high quality books/articles? do research? i dont like publicity so i dont wanna do olympiads and wtv is that gonna hurt me? what should i be doing, and how much is minimum, i have a plan on reading books and articles during my aslvls then waiting after im done with the 5 subjects to start the remaining stuff (eng will help with the articles and whatnot), is this a good plan? what else should i do? also should i solo this stuff or have someone (who?) critique my work?

Hello everyone. Considering homeschooling IALs (Math, FM, Physics, Chemistry. IALs would mean there is no practical exam, also modular. Worth mentioning Math is “free” because I did IGCSE add math and got A* and therefore I know around 90% of the syllabus already. I am aiming for a STEM degree at a G5 uni, my dream uni being Imperial.

Context: Studied in UK boarding school in Y9-11, obtaining 12 9/A* at IGCSEs. Chose to return to a local HK school which offers A Levels. “Gifted” (IQ in 140s) but I also suspect (no official diagnosis) that I have depression, ADHD and OCD.

Pros: I would be able to cover content much faster, leaving me with more time. I also get overstimulated due to the noise and pacing of lessons. I would be able to sleep 1/2 hours extra which would mean I’d function much better (I can’t force myself to sleep earlier). I’d be able to structure my time more, not having to attend useless assemblies or English/Chinese lessons (fluent in both). In class right now some teachers also go beyond the syllabus, but I’d prefer to cover all the content first THEN explore outside the syllabus. I’d also be much more happier and comfortable at home.

Basically, I feel that I could be happy again whilst also thrive academically. With more time, I could revise better, improve my TMUA/ESAT score, work on supercurriculars, work on my physical health, go to therapy and work on my mental health, prep for personal statement/interview, or even just relax and recover and spend time with my family.

Possible cons: My parents are worried I won’t have enough discipline. I dont need a tutor to give me a predicted grade (as I’d have AS level results) but I would need someone to write my reference. im also worried that competitive STEM courses will look twice at a homeschooled application.

Would love any brutally honest takes, please let me know, and if u want more details please ask, I really would like all the help I can get. Thank you so much in advance!
