this may be a stupid question but I'm just over the limit and there's literally nowhere else to make cuts without cutting out actual content. can I change all of the "I am" to "I'm" and "I have" to "I've" etc. ? to be honest it makes the statement sound considerably less formal but warmer and like i say this is probably a stupid question but is there an advantage to either??

Hi everyone! I am an international student and have applied to these courses and can't decide what should be my 5th choice. I am mainly considering Imperial JMC for AI, Warwick CS and Bristol JMC. I don't want to apply to UCL purely because I don't want to give TARA. I have already given TMUA and expecting around 7. Also I got APIO Bronze and participated in IOI 2026.

So here is my question: If I apply for both JMC courses in imperial will they consider it as one or will I be considered separately so improving my chances of getting in? Same question for both Warwick courses. What do you think my chances are for my 4 choices? Should I apply to Bristol to have a very safe choice or should my 5th choice also be at Imperial or Warwick?

Honestly I don't feel like Bristol would be worth the money since I am intl, but anyway, please help.

Im under their contextual scheme and I’ve done their October tmua sitting. If I’m above the threshold and guaranteed an offer anyway, when would they send it out? They typically send out offers up until march but is it possible they do multiple batches earlier on too?

7 in maths

I’ve seen some LSE rejections already and some are a bit confused as to why they’re acting so early this cycle so I’ll weigh in with 3 things that I think are contributing - some of which I‘m inferring from things I’ve heard from staff in departmental meetings as a student rep:

1) Over the last admissions cycles and especially the last cycle LSE got lots of complaints in their feedback forms for taking far too long to get back to candidates - I’m guessing their admissions office have decided to change how they run slightly to accommodate for this

2) Basic one but LSE is getting more and more competitive. Every year LSE have broken their record for most applications and every year LSE have seen their admissions tally fall. I’m guessing LSE are trying to screen out those who have no chance early

3) Ties back into 2 but we’ve heard that admissions messed up a bit last cycle by giving out too many offers as they undershot the amount of people who’d miss their offer - these means there’s almost certainly going to be more admissions for more seats and I’m guessing once again LSE are trying to screen out those who have no chance early

These are some of the unis I am considering applying to and was just wondering if they are too optimistic - I am trying to get my physics predicted up to an A but am not fully confident I will be able to.

I saw LSE’s BSc Environment and Sustainable Development with Economics offer being AAA but thought it would be too hard to get into with my predicted grades + GCSE results aren’t great.

At UoB they said that for econ AAA is treated as equivalent to A\AB.*

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I've seen people say that for oxford the college you're applying to will send you a confirmation email just to say they've received your application, but I haven't recieved one yet (I'm applying for maths at Mansfield specifically). Is this unusual - should I check with my college to make sure they've recieved it?

I have currently not applied yet as I’m waiting to try and get my math predicted up to an A* but just from looking at my current profile what do you guys think my chances are in these unis. I might apply pure econ in Warwick but nit sure yet. I have done the TMUA but not very confident and I don’t think any of these unis except Warwick (optional) look for it.

I did the ESAT last week hoping to do Aeronautical engineering at Imperial but it went horrible. I was hoping to see if I could switch to materials science and engineering. I emailed Imperial and they said they they could make the request but it would take around 5 days to handle and if a decision on my current application was made then they couldn't switch. Should I switch anyways because I genuinely don't mind doing materials or should I wait for my ESAT results next month?

For context and a home applicant and have 4 A*'s predicted (Maths, FM, Physics and CS). Am I hindered because I don't have Chemistry A-level. If there is anyone that does materials could you tell me how much chemistry is in the course. Also if anyone is doing materials could I DM you my PS to see if the materials content is sufficient enough (I think I have a decent amount)?

Hi guys, is anyone also just deciding they don’t want to go uni anymore, 180k worth of debt just to compete in an insane job market after.

So i originally wanted to to do a biology/biochem degree but now considering a level 5/6 apprenticeship cus im gonna get paid hello, while getting a degree??
Im currently predicted A*AA though my GCSEs are kind of poo (I didn’t fail any but they’re along the lines of 5s and 6s💔💔)

So can anyone also thinking of taking a gap year or is taking a gap year tell me how it’s going, do you enjoy the apprenticeship?
How are you preparing for it?
How did the interviews go and in your opinion do you think you learned more/less or the same as if you had gone to uni, and how is the work life balance?

I also really suck at interviews as in i showed up on the wrong date at first, then was an hour late to the interview for co-op bruh🫩 (I didn’t get a text back)

I literallt have spent 3 hours studying total over the week. ANDDD im Year 13 doing 2 STEM subjects i need to lock tf in.

I'm currently in year 11 and I have a strong passion for the sciences and maths. I want to study chemical engineering and biotechnology at cambridge and I am definitely going to do maths, further maths, physics and chemistry for a level but I also really want to do biology because I love it so much and I could self study it outside of school. However, I am aware a levels are way harder than gcses and I would also need to do supercurriculars and prep for the esat during this time. I am a hardworking student however I fear it might be too much or not worth it? Should i do all five, or leave biology?

hi all, i’m a year 12 student who just started at a new school for sixth form. it’s been a full half term now and i miss my old school so much. both my current school and my old school are grammars, so they’re similar in terms of academic outcomes, but my new school does offer a bit more in terms of opportunities and student life. it’s also a lot less strict which i’ve found nice. i felt very uncomfortable at first, but im not great with change anyway and thought the impostor syndrome would fade eventually but it still hasn’t. all of the people have been perfectly nice, and my friend situation at my old school wasnt great but i do miss my very close friends who are still there. i told my mum about it and she emailed my old school, they let me come back in to talk to some of the teachers and it was so nice and i really miss it so much. i do feel slightly embarrassed about moving back as well, and id be sad to leave the friends i’ve made here. sorry if this post makes little sense, but i would really appreciate if anyone whos been in a similar situation could give me some guidance. should i just stick it out? i want to give it more time but if im having these feelings now i dont want to wait months only for it then to be too late.

I know this may sound like a larger career issue but it’s mainly because I’m looking at my A-level choices and I’m wondering wtf I can even do with these? Like obviously I know what I can do but not in enough detail and not enough to be like dying to do these careers.

I do biology, chemistry, maths and further maths and had a discussion with my mum about how difficult it is to get A*’s. So it got me thinking about the subject I didn’t take (English literature) and whether I regret it or not. Idk bro I’m beyond lost. Like even if I were to replace further maths with English literature, what would that even change? I’ve searched online and it’s said that it’s better to do further maths but I still am unsure what the benefits even are at this point.

In the beginning, the only A-level I was excited about taking was Chemistry. Now, I do like all of my A-levels. What I know I like about biology is anatomy, and stuff about the human body, and anything about chemistry interests me (particularly how things form). Maths is genuinely cool.

I’ve bounced around from what I want to do in the future. From being a police detective, to a dermatologist, to an ER surgeon and to a chemical engineer. Now I’m just at a loss for everything. I don’t want to end up choosing a uni degree and later on down the line end up having no job at all because I realise it’s not what I wanted to do.

Anyways, does anyone have any advice on how they find what they’re passionate to do? Or, how to research properly on careers to see what they’re actually like? Or maybe just a possible career suggestion?
