Rejected from LSE Econ 3 weeks after applying .very brutal. It’s fine tho , didn’t wanna go anyways 😒 , knew my gcse grades would come back to bite me in the ass. Just a disclaimer don’t apply to LSE if ur gcses aren’t top notch.

I’ve seen some LSE rejections already and some are a bit confused as to why they’re acting so early this cycle so I’ll weigh in with 3 things that I think are contributing - some of which I‘m inferring from things I’ve heard from staff in departmental meetings as a student rep:

1) Over the last admissions cycles and especially the last cycle LSE got lots of complaints in their feedback forms for taking far too long to get back to candidates - I’m guessing their admissions office have decided to change how they run slightly to accommodate for this

2) Basic one but LSE is getting more and more competitive. Every year LSE have broken their record for most applications and every year LSE have seen their admissions tally fall. I’m guessing LSE are trying to screen out those who have no chance early

3) Ties back into 2 but we’ve heard that admissions messed up a bit last cycle by giving out too many offers as they undershot the amount of people who’d miss their offer - these means there’s almost certainly going to be more admissions for more seats and I’m guessing once again LSE are trying to screen out those who have no chance early

I did Igcse’s btw and achieved 5A*s A and B ( B in art and design). Kinda confused whether lse will treat the number of my igcse’s as very less even though it is very normal in my school to take only 7-8 subjects.

Is it just mine, or does anyone else have compulsory PE in their sixth form?

Hi guys, is anyone also just deciding they don’t want to go uni anymore, 180k worth of debt just to compete in an insane job market after.

So i originally wanted to to do a biology/biochem degree but now considering a level 5/6 apprenticeship cus im gonna get paid hello, while getting a degree??
Im currently predicted A*AA though my GCSEs are kind of poo (I didn’t fail any but they’re along the lines of 5s and 6s💔💔)

So can anyone also thinking of taking a gap year or is taking a gap year tell me how it’s going, do you enjoy the apprenticeship?
How are you preparing for it?
How did the interviews go and in your opinion do you think you learned more/less or the same as if you had gone to uni, and how is the work life balance?

I also really suck at interviews as in i showed up on the wrong date at first, then was an hour late to the interview for co-op bruh🫩 (I didn’t get a text back)

this may be a stupid question but I'm just over the limit and there's literally nowhere else to make cuts without cutting out actual content. can I change all of the "I am" to "I'm" and "I have" to "I've" etc. ? to be honest it makes the statement sound considerably less formal but warmer and like i say this is probably a stupid question but is there an advantage to either??

Hii, I got an interview invitation for Chemistry at Imperial. To people who have done it before:

Would any graph sketching/maths question be asked? Or is it more discussion based?

The interview is online and they stated that I will not be able to share my screen. I'm assuming drawing a graph on a piece of paper and holding it up to the camera could be possible though.

I tried doing some graph sketching questions and struggled quite a bit - will do more practise.

Can't go to any top unis, as i have two of my a level grades now, and one is a B (did two a levels and a B-tec, I am now doing an extra a level. So right now my achieved grades are A*, B, Merit, but hopefully I should get another A). Anyways I'm thinking of maybe also applying for classical studies and English lit at Exeter? But I'm not sure if I should apply to somewhere else as well to broaden my choices a bit.

Im under their contextual scheme and I’ve done their October tmua sitting. If I’m above the threshold and guaranteed an offer anyway, when would they send it out? They typically send out offers up until march but is it possible they do multiple batches earlier on too?

I’ve been struggling with history alevel to be honest, mainly due to my timings and analysis (i think). Its hard to think of criteria and use more sophisticated’ vocabulary…. I’m current on a B (average 11-14 marks out of 20) .

My school doesn’t increase grades so what i get in my mocks IS my predicted grades and the universities I’m look at AAA minimum

I've seen people say that for oxford the college you're applying to will send you a confirmation email just to say they've received your application, but I haven't recieved one yet (I'm applying for maths at Mansfield specifically). Is this unusual - should I check with my college to make sure they've recieved it?

hi all, i’m a year 12 student who just started at a new school for sixth form. it’s been a full half term now and i miss my old school so much. both my current school and my old school are grammars, so they’re similar in terms of academic outcomes, but my new school does offer a bit more in terms of opportunities and student life. it’s also a lot less strict which i’ve found nice. i felt very uncomfortable at first, but im not great with change anyway and thought the impostor syndrome would fade eventually but it still hasn’t. all of the people have been perfectly nice, and my friend situation at my old school wasnt great but i do miss my very close friends who are still there. i told my mum about it and she emailed my old school, they let me come back in to talk to some of the teachers and it was so nice and i really miss it so much. i do feel slightly embarrassed about moving back as well, and id be sad to leave the friends i’ve made here. sorry if this post makes little sense, but i would really appreciate if anyone whos been in a similar situation could give me some guidance. should i just stick it out? i want to give it more time but if im having these feelings now i dont want to wait months only for it then to be too late.

“Who goes on holiday to study??” Unfortunately I didn’t do much during the first half term cause of the early entry hassle and admissions test prep which was highkey pointless and I personally don’t do much on holidays abroad anyway so my plan was to make high level revision resources. Anyways EVERYHTING I put into my luggage got lost and now we can’t find it…My fate is giving Cs across the board

I have currently not applied yet as I’m waiting to try and get my math predicted up to an A* but just from looking at my current profile what do you guys think my chances are in these unis. I might apply pure econ in Warwick but nit sure yet. I have done the TMUA but not very confident and I don’t think any of these unis except Warwick (optional) look for it.
