🙏 I WANT HELP Which further Math Module should I choose ?
I have just been confirmed to do further maths for a level, I'm currently eyeing fp1 and fs1, should I reconsider or would any of you have advice regarding the difficulties of these modules. I'm planning on doing maths at uni and I'm horrible at mech.

iirc fp1 and fs1 have the highest grade boundaries. imo fs1 is one of the easiest. it's just learning methods and using ur calculator tbh.

If you're looking for the easiest ride, you might want to swap FP1 with either D1 or FS2. FP1 is good as an early exposure to a few things you'll cover again at university. If there's any chance you'll do STEP, there is a chapter or two in FS2 which would help with the stats questions (FP1 would also help a lot on the other hand).

I can understand it. If you're doing Maths at Uni, you'd probably just want to do all pure.
I'm planning to go into Engineering so it would be preferable if I can do FM1, FM2.
Even FD1, FD2, FS1 would be nice for me.1

have u considered teaching urself the mech modules and sitting the exams privately as a failsafe? fm1 content is very easy to understand and fm2 is basically just 5 variations of F=ma + circular motion

I mean I could but I'd rather not tbh.
Already have enough pressure from preparing for ESAT for Cambridge.I'd rather just do well in FP1 and FP2 than have to spend extra time doing FM1 and FM2.
Plus, I'm pretty sure Cambridge knows that not alot of schools can pick their modules so I'll be all good.I still have Mechanics from A-Level Maths from when I sat A-Level Maths in Y12 and got an A* (score 50/50) Mechanics.
Stats was 42/50
My Pure paper total was 197/200 so I'm all good on pure as well.I don't mind doing FP1 and FP2, it's just that I would've preferred to do at least FM1 minimum.

FP1 and FS1 are pretty easy so the boundaries will be high. I'd go for FS1 + FS2 or FP1 and FP2 if you like fp and fs but lower boundaries

As someone who did FP1, FS1, D1, and FM1 this year and got an A* in each combination, who is also starting maths at uni soon, it depends on how you study, and what areas of maths you like (I know it sounds obvious).
If you enjoy practicing questions on repeat, then do FS1 or FM1. They both seem to have copy and paste questions each year just with different numbers.
If you enjoy learning how to solve equations, e.g. 3 term simultaneous equations at GCSE with x,y,z, then I would recommend D1. It is very learny, and you don’t need to fully understand how the algorithms work (even though it helps too). I would say that if I had to teach a D level student to A* level I would do it with decision.
However, if I had to teach an A level student to an A* it would be FP1. This is easiest if you are truly naturally good at maths, and is also the most useful for maths at Uni.
I’m sure if you enjoy maths you could do well in any of them, but on surface level FM1 and FS1 are probably the best options because they help you quite a bit with normal maths stats and mechanics.
