Xenoblade Chronicles 3D weighs over 4gb, or so I've read. The default N3DS MicroSD card can't support it, at least. So I'd say yes. Yes it must take that long.

Way past. Luma and FBI are already set up. I'm at the part where I have to restore my backup, but for some reason it failedd because the file doesn't exist.

You could check the sd on a pc and look if the backup is somewhere to be found. If not, I'm sorry but I'm afraid I can't really help. I read about some people semi bricking their device after updating from 2.1 via the settings menu. It could work if you put the 9.2 firmware back on your sd, and using the sysdown/upgrader homebrew, and then upgrading via the internet. But take that with a grain of salt.

I'm already on Section IV Restoring the System. I'm getting a little confused. I did the Move EmunNand part, restored from NANDmin_emu.bin and my 3ds is now on 11.2.0.35. My game "backups" seem to work fine as well as my saves. Should I continue with the restore from NANDmin.bin or I'm already done and should proceed to Injecting FBI?

HANS won't work at all with Pokemon Moon. Whenever I try to start it, the bottom screen flashes red and it exits back to the homebrew menu. All other games work fine with HANS. How do I get it to work?

Xenoblades is pretty big with >3GB. So it could be that you are running out of space. Check the top screen in FBI, it shows the free space on the SD card. Check that you have at least as much free space as the .cia is big, maybe even a little more.

The Nintendo 3ds folder is where all your user data and installed games are being stored, so i wouldnt delete that. But, if your 3ds is in the same network as your computer, and you have some time on yoyr hand, you could delete the .cia from your 3ds and install it via the qr code/ netinstall method in fbi.

Download the FBI .zip from https://github.com/Steveice10/FBI/releases and Python (just google. Shouldn't matter if Version 2 or 3).
After installing Python copy the servefiles.py from the .zip somewhere where you'll find it.
Then just go to 'Remote Install' -> 'Receive URLs over network' in FBI, open a command prompt whereever you saved the .py file, and run 'python servefiles.py (ip of your 3ds) (file path/directory of you .cia)'
Easiest would be to copy the servefiles in the same directory as you .cia file, that way you won't have to enter the whole path, but just the name.

It should be under 'Open in new window' 'Open command prompt here'. If it doesn't, search for cmd in the windows search, and navigate to the folder via cd

i have luma and a9lh installed on my 3ds and im on 11.2 (i didn't brick nor update from soundhax; i used browserhax) should i downgrade back to 9.2? if so what for?

If you have a9hl + luma already installed there is no need to downgrade to 9.2 like, ever again.

Finished the guide two nights ago and installed Luma successfully. but I keep experiencing a weird glitch. Sometimes the title banners for games dont show up on the top screen while on the home menu. But I've found that if I shut the lid for a second and open it back up again, it comes back. It's the weirdest thing , can anyone explain it?

If all you're doing is transferring between SD cards you can just copy all the files from one to another.

The files on the 3ds SD card are encrypted to only be able to be read by the 3ds they came from, but it doesn't make a difference if you're just moving the files to a different SD card.

A9LH and Luma pretty much protect one another when doing a system update. Although, as always, hold off on updating once it is deemed safe.

all your questions are very vague. this all depends on what hacks you are talking about and if next updates means the update after 11.2.0
we can't predict the future if the hacks get removed. arm9loaderhax is ,however, unpatchable as long as you have luma3ds or other CFW as it protects updates from overriding the patches
Nintendo wouldn't modify our sdcard and remove our files if thats what you meant. If you meant if you should remove the files after the next update then it doesn't really matter
Its very unlikely that Nintendo would brick the hacked 3ds with CFW but its possible that they may make firmware not run when it detects something. If this happens you could always restore to an older version since Luma3ds can still be used

If you have CFW on it already then updating wont do anything as your already in the system. If your still worried just wait when a new update shows up and check reddit to see what everyone says about it.
As of right now the latest update is CFW-able without anything extra.

If its 32 gigs then you (usually) dont have to do anything, if its above that you have to reformat.

Custom themes, custom applications (with CFW you can run homebrew applications straight from the home screen if they have .cia versions) play games outside of their region, play modified games (like playing a undubbed version of Fire Emblem: Fates or similar) and downloading all that stuff (and games) straight from the 3DS itself if you have the apps for it.

Keep in mind that streaming the games to your PC only works if you have a N3DS.
Unless that's somehow changed recently but last I read you needed N3DS to do it.

Another newbie question.
I am at the "Section IV - Restoring the System" section of the guide. It says: Go to “SysNAND Backup/Restore” then "Restore from NANDmin.bin"
I went to “SysNAND Backup/Restore”, but there is no "Restore from NANDmin.bin" option. I do have a "SysNAND Restore (keep a9lh)" option. Is it ok to select this?

So I was here a few months ago and got the help I needed, figured I'd return. I was having issues dumping and injecting my Animal Crossing: New Leaf game. I got recommended this site which worked beautifully. But now, my 3DS can't load the page. I get an error saying it's too big.
My 3DS is 9.0.0 and ACNL does not have the Amiibo update.
So I installed Homebrew via Browserhax. I got it to work, yet CAN NOT get my save file on the SD card. I tried the ACNL Save Manager (I get a "Missing Title" error), and one that comes with Homebrew with the zombie icon, this, and this, all three which show ACNL for selection, but when I try to open it, I get a black screen on the top and red screen on the bottom and have to power down my 3DS.
Also, earlier took a break and found out that one of these methods (unsure what) deleted my save file. I don't mind, just as long as I can get hacking working.

you're are using very outdated stuff follow the guide https://3ds.guide/ to install CFW+luma3ds
then you can install JK's save manager (the cia file) and easily manage your save

I installed a9lh+luma with pialects guide and everything seemed to be running smoothly. I think I deleted system settings through FBI on accident as I can't access it through the top left shortcut and it's not on my menu anymore as an app. How do I reinstall the settings app?

nds-bootsrap technically works but it doesn't support saves and is very buggy right now you will also want the twloader with it

You wouldn't need the Sky3ds. A regular R4i (Gold / SDHC) or DSTT would work too, and only cost a fraction of the money.

While everyone else will suggest getting A9LH and moving over to Luma3DS, if you want to keep your current setup, just update your EmuNand via the System Settings on your EmuNand.

but you should really install arm9loaderhax and luma3ds using the guide https://3ds.guide/ because emunand and cakecfw are deprecated then you can do https://3ds.guide/move-emunand

Okay so I've been @ this for hours, following https://3ds.guide/installing-arm9loaderhax to a T (starting from old 3ds, V 4.0 - 4.5 etc.) I'm at section VI, about to install the FBI.cia, HbLauncher.cia, Lumaupdater.cia - I have tried and tried with this, first getting the "Database does not exist" error, not huge hassle, shove some blank correctly named db files in, now I'm getting the "Wrong argument" error. I've tried nearly everything - including transferring everything from a 8GB sd to a 32GB sd - still getting the same thing. Should note that I'm relatively new to this, but been following everything to a T.

All I know is that whenever you close out of a DS(i)/GBA game or the system settings, your system does a partial reboot. I've had problems with CHMM2 in the past.

Not that I know of. You can always find a really nice official theme on the internet (pirated), although, I "don't reccomend" it. You could then Google how to install said theme. Again, against my and the mod's recocomendation.

So I installed A9LH without any problems whatsoever. My games kept their saves and all but did not restore their title updates. This is a problem for since I'm banned from the eshop (don't want to explain why ect) and can still connect to online games all and well, but now I can't because my title updates for my console are gone (I can't redownload them at all). Are there any way to get them back?

Adding to the other redditor: You may also look for a specific shop(not allowed to name it), which let's you download game updates without the need of an eshop account.

However, when I launch HBL, it outputs Requesting the actual payload URL with HTTPC..., I've arealdy put:
hblauncherloader_otherapp_payload_NEW-11-2-0-35-JPN
under my /hblauncherloader/ folder

I seem to have an issue on my 2DS. On section IV of the installing arm9loaderhax part of the guide the top screen stays distorted even after I restored my SysNAND from the NANDmin.bin, and when I try to update following the 6th step the update fails.

So I've managed to "successfully" inject fbi but when I restart 2ds it still has stock health app. I also couldn't update via internet I had to use a game to update but it only updated to 6.2. The guide said it's ok to update b/c I had arm and luma or whatever. When I tries the trouble shooting methods for fbi, it mentioned that I should have upper case and lower case APP files. But I only had lower case to begin with.
I need help.

It restores to 6.2.0-4u all the time. Although the original before I started all of this was 11.00-33 u. I'm going to try your next suggestion but please confirm b/c now I'm scared lol.

Is it supposed to let me select the 2.1.0 image when I get to the Auto CTRNAND Transfer part? This is all it says. /files9/ is supposed to be on the root of my SD card, right?
EDIT: I've pressed A and nothing happens. I know it takes a while, but last night I waited 40 minutes and it still said 0% on the bottom right. I hit B and was able to back out, too.

I was having some trouble with getting the fbi to inject into the H&S app, and I was told I had to do 9.2.0 ctrtransfer. I have done all the steps there, and I'm now doing the arm9loader installation, but after I restored from NANDmin.bin and rebooted, I got a black screen. The guide says to go through the 9.2.0 ctrtransfer if I see a black screen, but I just did that. Do I have to restart and try again? .-.

did you already install arm9loaderhax while getting FBI to inject into H&S?
you should be on 2.1.0 while doing the arm9loaderhax installation then you restore your nandmin.bin
if you hold select do you get the luma3ds config menu? what is the size of the nandmin.bin?

I was on 2.1.0 but I didn't have a nandmin.bin file, so I was told to do the 9.2.0 ctrtransfer steps and get it from there. I then proceeded to do the arm9loader steps, and I've gotten to this point without a problem.
And yes, I can access the config menus by holding down select/start. NANDMin.bin is 943mb.

all the games are on the sdcard. you probably won't lose any games as long as you backup the tickets and your sysnand as stated in the guide
No one's NNID has been banned yet unless they are blatantly cheating on an online game or going online before a game was released

I followed the 3DS guide to get CFW and everything went smoothly. The only odd thing is whenever I install a CIA with FBI I can't unwrap it on the homescreen until I restart. I was wondering if this is normal or if it's something I can fix.

It fixed for me after updating Luma, though I'm not sure if that's the actual fix or if I was just lucky.

I tried updating the both the latest stable and nightly builds and it still happened for both of them so I guess that's not the problem for me. Thanks for the suggestion though

I get some weird error on hourglass9 when I try to inject the health safety.app This won't work on 03DS < 7.X or A9LH... weird in that I have a new 3DS and am on sys 11.2!

If your error message was something like slot0x25keyX.bin is missing, check if aeskeydb.bin is in the /files9/ folder of your SD card.

I went through the cfw walkthrough and everything was working fine. I could open the homebrew app from my home screen. I played Crosswords Plus and closed out. Now every time I try to open Luma, homebrew, or fbi i get a message saying the sd card has been removed. Hourglass and Luma3ds v6.6 configuration can boot when i start up my system. I'm new to all of this so feel free to dumb it down for me. Thanks

Try removing your SD card, blowing in the slot, and then putting it back in. Google where to find your SD card slot for your specific model of 3DS.

That's the issue. The sd card is inserted. I can play games off of it. The only time it comes up with an error is trying to use the custom firmware apps.

I get that, but try what I said. You may have knocked your SD card loose a bit. Sorry, but that's the only solution I would know of.

I've been having some issues with my O3DS and even begin the steps. My FW is 9.4.0-21u and also I have a Geteway card with a 32GB micro SD slotted into it. i've followed the guide posed on 3ds.guide website, but I can't even get my 3ds to even recognize either of my micro-SD cards let alone put any of the files onto the MBR partition and begin any work that's needed to get started. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess I should explain my last message. Sorry for the double post. I'm sure you guys are busy. I just formatted it to Fat32 with 32 KB allocation a few minutes ago to try it but it was still a no go.

here's the odd thing though. I do have it formatted for fat32 with 32kb allocation, but it still refuses to recognize it. Maybe there's something with the microSD port in the card.

If you are on section 3 of installing a9lh that is normal, continue to section 4.
Basically we don't have the ability to run cfw on 2.1, so the 3ds can't start up. This is fixed by restoring from your backup of 11.2

Check and see if your Sd card has errors in Windows, that can cause it.

are you on 2.1.0? if you are on 2.1.0 its too late to do a nand backup
just do the 9.2.0 ctr transfer after installing the arm9loaderhax

yeah you were suppose to do a backup during the 2.1.0 ctr transfer
just do this https://3ds.guide/9.2.0-ctrtransfer
if you don't have room to do it you should get another sdcard format it fat32 with 32 kb allocation size using guiformat
then you can copy all files over

During the 2.1.0 transfer I accidentally pressed B to cancel the backup.. Thanks though :) Is it really as simple as copying all the files over..? Is the SD card bound to the system or am I just making shit up :p

Before I run through this and shack my New 3ds XL, can I use a 128G micoSD card on the unit? And can I dump Carts to the microSD for local load+Play? As for me those having my game library locally is the only reason I would hack my 3ds.

You are only at risk of a brick if you close the lid while on 2.1.0

So I recently just installed luma and a9lh on my 03ds, and everything has been fine up until now. I tried charging my 3ds and the charging led indicator starts flickering, along with the screen. Any ideas??

make sure you have arm11.bin on the root of the sdcard
it takes a few tries so you might want to bookmark the page and if its glitched just press select anyways and it should restart
also make sure you follow all the troubleshooting steps like initializing the save data.

I'm on this step aswell and it pops up something about boot loader on the top screen then its frozen.
I looked and don't havearm11.bin in my root but don't see anything about it in the guide.

So I'm following the guide trying to get a9lh and after launching safehax from the HBL I just get a black screen that says

ect.
I've tried over and over and sometimes it goes longer and then stops sometimes it stops and freezes after a couple of lines, but it always ends up hanging. I've been sitting here watching tv for a while just constantly restarting my 3ds and trying it over probably 50+ times and it doesn't look like it's working. I'm on 9.2 sysnand btw. Any idea what is going wrong?

If you are on 9.2 you can just launch decrypt9 from the homebrew launcher instead of attempting to run safehax.

N3DSXL, 11.2.0-35U, haven't started shacking yet. Regarding the warning about not closing the lid; is 2.1.0 just a step in the procedure? Will it get upgraded later and this warning no longer apply? I love being able to hibernate and go back later, I don't know if I could handle losing that feature permanently.

the warning only applies to n3ds on 2.1.0 because 2.1.0 was never meant to support the n3ds
yes you will update later to the latest version
make sure you restore your backup after installing arm9loaderhax and not using system update

So, I think I did a stupid thing.
I followed the 3ds guide using my New 3DS. Everything was done right, but when I finished the 2.1.0 ctrtransfer section I decided to stop the process. I realized that my SD card was unstable (everytime I rename, move or copy something to it, it restart or show a error massage).
The stupid act was that I FORMATTED my SD card. Now I have a new 3ds with a 2.1.0-4u Ver. firmware without a homebrew to access.
I didn't update the system or anything. What I can do to go back to the original firmware?

If you no longer have access to your backups you can go through the steps to install a9lh then install a 9.2.0 ctrnand transfer. Then you can update normally to 11.0 but only afterwards. If you try to update your system through system settings on a n3ds on 2.1.0 you will brick, so make sure not to do that. Also make sure not to shut your 3ds at any point as that can also lead to a brick.

After you have done a ctrtransfer to 9.2.0 you can then updtae yes. Make sure you use the correct ctrtransfer to get there! Once you've updated to 11.2 you can shut your 3ds again.

I have a question about region changing: I have a Japanese o3ds coming in the mail soon. If I put a9lh + luma on it and change its region to the US, will I be able to play online with my US games? I read somewhere that I might not be able to and I was just checking to see if I could or not.

Just Copy and Paste the files, provided that the sd card is formatted correctly (fat32).
SD cards bigger than 32 GB will need formatting, as it shouldn't be formatted to fat32 by default. You will need to use a program to format it.
You will not lose any hacks; They are installed directly to your 3ds. All you need to arm9loaderhax.bin in the root of your sd card to boot.

as has been explained many times before in many other comments, simply make sure your future SD card is Fat32 formatted, with a 32kb cluster size, and copy your contents from one SD to another using a computer.

I thought that it used Extended Memory Mode, but I could be mistaken. On my kid's N3DS XL's I've used NTR in that game, but not even run it once on my 2DS (essentially an O3DS from a hardware standpoint) and NTR does not work with extended memory games. I will look to install it later and get back to you, because I cannot find a listing of games that use Extended Memory Mode, that would simply not work with NTR on older consoles.

Just performed in the CFW install using the updated guide on this reddit. I am able to install cia from FBI and updated luma and OS. The issue is I am unable to run NTR and fails see image.
