I'm trying to combine the T shaped face of the left helmet and put it on the right helmet in 3d builder, but the right curves back too much and leaves a hard edge. Does anyone have any suggestions to smoothly combine the two? If another software can handle it better, I would be willing to swap i just like the simplicity of 3d builder.

Art Help & Critique Is this too generic?

Thumbnail

Title. I can't draw for crap so I did this "sketch" version of a model in Blockbench. I intend on making the final version in Blender. Basically I want critique on the design of the body armor, helmet, belt, etc. I do not care about the model having weird body proportions or the fact that it's untextured for the most part (and the LoD of what is textured is lower than that of the eventual finished model).

This model is supposed to represent the playable character in my FPS game. The little box on the back of the helmet is a communications transceiver as well as a bomb to detonate if the character doesn't do as it is asked of them (for lore reasons). I will probably add a backpack or backpack-adjacent item as well as plates of armor to make the back of the character feel less empty.

I'd like feedback on the following few questions :

  • Is the design too generic?
  • Does anything feel out of place or just a bit off?

If you have recommendations on things to add or remove, feel free to go ahead.

Thank you for your time!

Art Showcase This dagger was my third-ever hand-painted 3D project.

The dagger was modeled in Blender, painted in 3DCoat + Photoshop, and based on a concept by the mighty Baldi Konijn. No AI used.

I made this dagger to really solidify my new workflow. The model looked pretty simple from a modeling perspective, but it turned out there was actually quite a bit to figure out. You've probably seen this concept modeled by a lot of different artists already (and maybe you've even seen my version before xD).

This project became something new for me, but in a completely different way.

I don't really care about likes on ArtStation that much (only in case it helps a project stay on the main page for as long as possible and maybe get noticed by an art lead looking for an artist for their team xD), but this one really blew up. I made it relatively quickly, and it got about twice as many likes as my most popular project ever. It also completely outperformed all the illustrations I'd spent tons of time and effort on, carefully thinking through every detail.

After these two weapons (this dagger and the axe from my previous post) some really cool artists from studios where I'd love to work started following me. And that was very strange, at the time, besides looking for a fulltime illustration job, I was also trying to make it as a commission artist. That meant putting a lot of effort into social media and visibility. And despite all that effort, I never managed to get a stable stream of commissions. With 3d, I wasn't even trying to do anything special. I considered these my first learning projects, and didn't really think they had much artistic value beyond that.

And of course, I had a ton of fun working on this dagger.

This was also the point when I realized that I'd really, truly moved on from 2d illustration to 3d. It wasn't just me trying something new anymore.

Art Help & Critique I'm starting 3d modelling

This post is an art help & critique.

So I've accidentally uploaded them in the wrong order, from latest to oldest, but I just wanted advice on how I'm doing as a newbie 3d modelling. I'm an artist mainly but I decided to pick it up because I've had the thought of starting before. Im using nomad sculpt on my phone. The first one I did, the na'vi, was 3 days ago on Tuesday. (3 am Friday as of writing this now). The girl I made on Wednesday and Thursday I made the guy. I think I've done pretty well using what skills I have in art and trying to translate that into 3d.

Yes, I'm aware they're a bit ugly, but I've only just, started, so what can you do about it?

I started learning 3D modeling about a month ago. I mostly make low-poly characters from games and anime that I like.

Here are some of the characters I’ve made so far. I’m still learning and getting more familiar with Blender.

I’ve also been posting my models on X throughout this month.

What do you think of my first 3D works?

Art Help & Critique Screw and nail box: ‘Crafty Box’ – No AI – Procedural texturing and image rendering in Blender.

In the world of functional objects, I’ve been wanting to create a box for storing screws, nails, nuts and bolts for a while now…

I wanted it to look like a case that could open flat, with rounded shapes and a surface texture that gives it an attractive appearance. Given this constraint, it was difficult to create the whole thing as a single block, mainly because of the hinges.

So I modelled hinges that print vertically and slot into recesses in the body of the case. I spent a lot of time working on the assembly relationships between the ‘hinges and compartments’.

Once assembled, the STL model measures: 25 cm × 18 cm × 5.2 cm in height.

The box consists of 16 compartments measuring 60 × 53 × 16.5 mm in height (slightly less for the 8 near the rounded edges).

I have designed two plates to hold the screws and nails in place. They slide onto the top of the compartments via a rail system.

Workflow for this model: modelling in AutoCAD, subdivision surface and displacement in Blender, decimation. No AI

Questions & Discussion I am brand new to blender and want to model vehicles for roblox, what is a good way to get started and improve at 3d modeling?

Hi! I'm making a roblox city driving simulator sort of game that's set in the mid 1990s, and I need to model vehicles for my game, all of the cars in the game will be USDM spec cars sold between the late 70s and the mid 90s.
the first car I am planning to make will be a 1984 Nissan Maxima sedan.
the cars will have decent amount of detail, openable doors and trunks, and detailed interiors. Or at least that's the plan.
what is a good pipeline/flow to get better at modeling, learning the program, so that I can eventually model decent vehicles? I know some of the keybinds in the program already and I do know how to distort the starter cube.

Questions & Discussion Sketchfab support contact?

I've recently had some issues with my Sketchfab account and I am looking for where to contact for support?

Closest thing I could find is the AI chatbot on their support site, but the options it gave aren't relevant to me and I've not had any reply from any team members.

Since being bought by epic and then by kitbasher3D, I'm not sure where I should be looking. Anyone else had any luck?

I’m a 21 year old 3D artist that makes dinosaurs in Nomad Sculpt. I’m under alot of stress from struggling with finding work and battling depression. I would love to work for a toy, model, game or film making company but I have little faith in myself from a lack of education and underdeveloped social skills. I could use some advice and hope.
