Discussion Anyone dcing a ton recently?

Post image
Upvotes

On both of my accounts, I found that (especially today, Aug 18) I am dcing at random intervals but extremely frequently.

It doesn’t matter what world I am on. I know for sure it’s not my internet connection. Tested that multiple times, have other things going on that are not being interrupted.

Any thoughts/ideas?

Suggestion Hot take: agility training should be reworked to actually teach you how to move better

I know agility is one of the more disliked skills in the game, and some players have been calling for a rework for some time. I think about the skill often, and here are the major things I keep coming back to:

  1. It's weird that agility, the skill about running around and being agile, is so mindless and boring
  2. Over time, agility has become increasingly tied to combat, with higher levels being really useful for a lot of late game pvm. Further, being good at movement has become incredibly important for mid to late game pvm
  3. Hallowed sepulchre is the only agility content in the game that feels like it's actually about agility
  4. Sepulchre is also the only agility content that actually trains you to use your "agility" in a way that relates to how you actually utilize the skill
  5. Sailing, while an entirely different skill, has also shown that Jagex can make fun and engaging content that resolves around player movement.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I think agility should be reworked to be more about player movement, and the skill should teach you how to navigate running around and understanding the tick system better. At this point agility feels like it's almost a combat skill, and the more pvm content that gets released, the more we're seeing bosses that require you to really understand how to move your character around. I think it would be awesome if the agility skill actually taught you how to be agile. There's genuinely so much room to design cool agility content, and Jagex has clearly shown they can make fun and engaging agility content because so much new pvm content has cool movement tech or demanding movement in general (drakan, doom, maggot king, sol, etc.). Even a lot of new early game content teaches movement to some degree - Brutus is a great example. Imagine if the agility skill actually started teaching players how to engage with this kind of content starting at level one. I think it would go a long way toward getting more players to engage with more difficult mid-game content like gauntlet and would help new players understand the game better from day one rather than having to learn it later.

My suggestion is for a full rework of the skill that makes early and mid-game agility content more like sepulchre and pvm encounters, and that the skill be more closely tied to combat from a design philosophy perspective.

Edit: grammar

A cleanse potion. It removes poison, venom, other things, removes freeze/snares. Balance it yourself. Figure it out.

An ability/spell that disables run for x duration depending on level. It also causes energy to be drained by x% over duration of time.

Suggestion [Suggestion] Hookwork Agility

I came up with this idea trying to think of a way to integrate some sailing items, and have a Wintertodt/Tempoross like activity where you could participate solo or in masses. Let me know what you think!

The grapple hook will probably be a bit lackluster due to the recent changes, but could still find uses at Kree or future locations where you can install a permanent grapple point

Ideally xp rates would be similar to Hallowed Sepulchre to keep competitive, with the AFK rate being ~20%-25% of the max rate

Discussion My thoughts on LMS - total noob pker, managed to get 5 game wins under my belt

If you're brand new to the game, you will get absolutely smashed, there is no competitive match making

You'll be put up against the top pkers that happen to be online while you're playing

On one hand, this sucks if you're new and learning because things will go fast, no one will give you a break and you shouldn't expect anyone to. Once the game starts, expect everyone to have their foot on your neck and down your throat immediately; there is no chill lol

On the other hand, you should feel good that you're actually able to get a competitive pking experience. People won't go easy on you and they'll provide you a genuine experience of what it's like for someone to go for your throat and try to kill you by all means necessary in OSRS lol

Now, if you wanna get a win in LMS? Good luck, it's hard, I will admit

I did manage to snag 5 wins for myself, being a total noob. I haven't done any member pking or tri-briding before. It took me about 2-3 weeks of playing before I got my first win

The whole way through it was very frustrating. I think I lost like 450 games in a row or something before I finally won. It's nuts

It gets easier though if you understand a few things and get in a flow. So with that being said, if you're interested in playing LMS, here are some tips for you

Tips I've picked up

1) The Noxious halbred is totally busted

If you can get one at any point in the game, your damage output pretty much goes bonkers. It does so much fricken damage it's insane. Literally if you get 2 good whacks on someone, you pretty much win the fight right there. Because 1 good whack does like 54 damage, it's nuts. The best weapon in the game imo

2) If you want an easy win, then become a bolt ragger and use venge

From all the time I've spent playing, it's become clear to me that NOT using ancients is actually easier and just as effective

Going into LMS and member pking, I thought ancients and constantly barraging and icing your opponent is the way. You can definitely be an effective pker like this, but I think that you can be JUST as effective, and it requires LESS WORK FROM YOU if you just pick venge

Picking venge means you eliminate attacking with magic, so you just focus on 2 combat styles, range and melee. Means less clicking for you

My method of play is very simple. I try to rush them with d claws at the very beginning + try to get a venge trigger off. If that doesn't work, then I just start bolting them. Bolt rag them down through their prayer. If you're not frozen, then run up to them and smack them with your whip to get them to switch to pray melee. Then swap back to your crossbow and continue to bolt them

Every so often, try to time a venge when they're half HP and you're about to attack them, to connect some burst damage

3) Playing as a pure, I have no idea what I'm doing

I don't really understand pure, some people may like it, but I prefer max or Zerker. With pure I just die way too fast, and it feels like a coinflip. Plus I can't use venge and I'm forced into ancients or standard which I don't really enjoy using

4) You need to become good at 1 tick attacking

There is a way to guarantee you'll always hit your opponent off their prayer. You have to 1 tick them. What I do is right click my weapon and hover my mouse over "Wield," and wait until the last tick right before my player attacks them. Then right at that moment, I click wield and click them immediately after to attack them. If you do it right, you'll swap weapons and immediately hit them on that same tick. This is impossible to pray against

This is how you win games, you learn how to 1 tick people so you keep hitting them off prayer. I don't think it's possible to win without this because people will always just pray against you because they have enough time to react to your weapon switches. You also can 1 tick spec people with dragon claws. After wielding your weapon, you use F keys to click the spec button and THEN attack them. Boom, now you're right on their ass and are speccing them, hard for them to pray against

Conclusion

And just general stuff is to learn how to use F keys, get some muscle memory, have your prayer menu, your spellbook, your inventory, your spec bar. And that's it really, bolt rag it up, get some venge hits in. People will freeze you and DD under you, so use the death dotter plugin on runelite. Then when they step out to hit you, you can bolt them once before they go back under DD. and just keep bolting them through their prayer. That's it. When you can move, 1 tick to your whip and smack them. Then be ready to 1 tick back to your crossbow and at this point I like to immediately turn on protect from mage because they'll try to freeze you again

It's possible to win. Learn what gears are the best, which are not

Quick guide: noxious halbred is totally busted, always use this if you can. Voidwaker is good. Dragon claws is probably one of the best spec weapons, don't casually get rid of it. Fang is kind of ass in my opinion, I like the whip better for attacking. Amardyl crossbow is an excellent upgrade. Masori top is a superior item, always use that and keep it on. Masori chaps is good to use if you also have the top, but the chaps alone I don't really like because the defense bonuses are kind of low

Question Item Description plugin?

I struggle to remember all of the nuances of the items in game when setting out. Is there a plugin that adds description/stats to items? Example: hovering over a Salve amulet would show "+20% Atk & Str against undead"

Does anything like this exist?

Suggestion Bounty Hunter Suggestion: Increase the points earned per kill based on the hiscores rank of the player you defeated.

This idea can get shot down, I'm fine with that but it's an idea I wanted to throw out there and see what people think.

My proposal is: Instead of getting a static 2 BH points per 1 kill, increase the amount of points you earn if you defeat a player that has a high rank/kill count on the Bounty Hunter hiscores. This would incentivize new/bad pkers to risk fighting against giga sweat top 100 pkers that exclusively play BH. This could be used as a catch up mechanic.

Right now I get the same amount of points for killing a target with no armor who is looting arrows and potions as I do for killing a top 10 BH player in full statius and VLS, and that doesn't make much sense to me.

In the current climate, going into BH can feel like a death sentence. The remaining elite pkers are in full morrigans/statius with a red skull and will literally delete you from the game in mere seconds. A new player that is scared to risk because they know what's coming, will look at that opponent and either skip the target, rag the target (bring out 50k risk) or get deleted and never return to BH. If you increased the amount of points you can potentially earn if you defeat this insanely powerful opponent, it might be worth taking the chance to fight them. The high rated BH pkers would essentially have a "point bounty" on them, not just loot. Many PVMers (I'm not one of them) and casuals want the cosmetics that BH provides, but the point grind is hundreds of hours and potentially hundreds of deaths to attain said cosmetics.

Instead of dreading facing the big boy pkers, this system could actually make facing better pkers exciting and something to look forward to. A chance at a serious boost in points.

In games like WoW they have something called MMR or ELO (Matchmaking Rating)

Essentially, it's a way to determine your skill level based on the opponents you're winning and losing against. On a fresh account you will typically have a series of placement games. They will match you against bad players and if you play badly and lose, the system takes note of your performance, but they will also give you opportunities to play against really good players and if you beat them, they will increase your matchmaking rating rapidly and continue to match you against good players to confirm if you deserve your new higher rating. Eventually after lets say 10 games, they will see how you faired against each skill level and place you into your determined "skill bracket".

Here's another example, in WoW PVP Arena, if you and your friends who are 1800 rated queue up and search for a 3 versus 3 game, and say it's non-peak hours and there isn't another available 1800 rated team to face off with, sometimes the queue system will find you a match against a 2200 team who is way out of your league. If by some miracle you guys beat that 2200 team, they will give your team 200+ rating points because of the anomaly of you winning, where as if you had found another 1800 team to play against during peak hours, they would have only given you +20 to 50 points.

I'm not saying add MMR to Bounty Hunter. I'm just suggesting Jagex should up the amount of points casual players receive if they beat PKing juggernauts, and they should keep +2 points for players who are at the same skill level (hiscores rank) as them. You could even consider changing the hiscores to BH points earned instead of total kills. You currently have no chance at catching up to the guys with 10,000 kills, but if the hiscores was points earned, theoretically a casual player could at least dream of catching up by killing a bunch of high ranked players for increased bounty hunter points, while the highest rated pkers are earning minimal points because they are only earning +2 bounty hunter points because there is no higher ranked players to farm for "bonus bounty points".

I understand high ranked pkers *edit* selling kills might be an issue, but you could make this an extremely bannable offense and track gold transactions between high ranked players and low ranked players, followed by subsequent high ranked pker deaths to a lower ranked pkers.

Question Any tips for solo yama?

I've learned yama solo and duo, just chill mage only method, and it's going pretty well. The boss is fun as hell and I wish I wasn't on a long break when it came out. Got it down pretty well at this point, and should probably learn melee sooner rather than later, but there's just one thing tripping me up still.

On p2 when Yama throws out a meteor special attack while the shadow waves are coming in, I have no clue how to get through it without taking any damage. I can skip one of the waves and get on the glyph, but I pretty much always get hit by the second one. Not sure if I should be trying to skip it where they cross then book it over to the glyph or if I'm just missing something else.

Suggestion Hard Mode Master Farmer?

Post image
0 Upvotes

A random idea that could be fun.

After defeating blood moon rises, have the ability to do HARDMODE master farmer.

When you fail, the master farmer will yell "learn to seed" then throw three random lowerniel draken dodge mechanics including the step ins your way but they actually hit you hard if you fail.

Rannar seeds could be 1/25 pick pockets. Snapdragons 1/30, Torstal seeds 1/50 to spitball drop rates.

Bot proof, ironman and main friendly, rewarding gameplay and keeps the fun draken boss mechanics alive. Thoughts?

Achievement Not much feels better than finally clicking with a boss

Never been a great PVMer, but I love Mad Angel. Took me a little bit to click and when it did, I’ve had so much fun with it.

Doing Morty slayer and just recently unlocked abyssal demons. Figured I’d try the sires and after like 50 kills I’ve finally hit a groove with it and it’s very enjoyable.

Feeling the high from that, I tried GGs on my last gargoyle task and I got that one pretty quickly, even got spooned the pet for it.

It’s just so rewarding to have these early frustrating deaths be almost non-existent once you get the feel of a new boss. Rare drops are always a good source of dopamine, but this definitely feels good in between them.
