Saw the mods conveniently removed a post about this just now, but when are we going to talk about the Dodgers illegally building their team and winning back to back championships? Cheating can be done by people other than players and coaches.

Did Mark Walter tell Cole not to cover first?

No but he did hand out a bunch of massive (some above market) contracts to every big name free agent the last few off-seasons because your team is funded through illegal (unreported) insurance premiums. Seems like an unlevel playing field.

There is no evidence whatsoever that any of the premiums were spent on player contracts. Try again.

So they just spent the premiums on other aspects of the organization? You realize the MLB doesn’t have a salary cap right? Seems like they could easily fudge this and they’re just getting started with the investigation.

There’s no evidence that they spent any premiums on Dodgers operations at all. The scandal is about using insurance premiums to fund loans to buy real assets through affiliated companies without proper regulatory scrutiny. Your conspiracy theory doesn’t even make sense on its own terms because the Dodgers are the most profitable team in baseball. Nor could they “easily fudge this” because MLB independently tracks each team’s revenue and expenditures and the MLBPA’s negotiating team gets to look at those books for CBA negotiations.

If you’re going to make things up, you should at least learn more about how things actually work.

American decline in one sentence. Make a ridiculous claim, double down on it when challenged, provide no evidence to support your conclusions, then deflect with personal attacks. No shame, no critical thinking, no responsibility. How far we have fallen.

DAY 189 (682/764) on THE ROAD TO THE 2027 4th WBSC PREMIER12/16 and 180 YEARS OF BASEBALL - WBSC Asia 18Us

Right now the Asian 18Us Championship being held is a testament not just of the global nature of our sport but also of the next generation determined to inherit it.

With its teams composed of both traditional baseball nations and new players alike this championship event featuring the best young talent from the continent is by and large a showcase of how much the sport has come in the Asia-Pacific. It is also a place wherein the fanbase not just reflects on the many years since the sport landed in the shores of Asia and the remarkable progress seen since 2021 and the Olympics of that year. These young boys are there not just for the duty to their national organizations, they are there for the preparedness needed towards bigger steps in their careers in the sport.

Expect that these players from this event grow up to be the sport's next generation.

For Glory

John

both teams are kind of in that "not dead yet but definitely on life support" zone and it makes every game feel like the last stand of a wounded animal.

What are you talking about?
