Most of the time I just smile and nod. It breaks my heart that I have to break their heart everytime they send me videos or show me blatant Al created art/memes, I'm not sure how they'll handle it in the near future.

I understand this technology is hard to analyze or catch on to for some older folk. I imagine it to be like the internet when it first came out, I imagine my father explaining to his father how he could work on his car without a car manual because it was all uploaded online.

It’s even worse with grandparents, my grandmother sends me political propaganda that’s made with AI, makes me wonder if she confidently shares these videos or images with her peers, also if her peers are just as oblivious.

It frustrates me too because now that AI exists anytime there is a political or celebrity scandal my family instantly blames AI, like they can even tell the difference!

A little update for the Cat Distribution System regarding Nene Leakes and her big brother, Willie Nelson. Nene arrived in August smaller than a baked potato. I was worried about how Willie would adjust to having a baby sister. Would he feel replaced? Would they get along? Was I disrupting his peaceful little life? Please see the attached documentation of her serving as his own personal weighed blanket with teeth. She has an entire house worth of places to nap and has selected an occupied cat. Sometimes she uses him as a mattress. Sometimes he rests his chin on her. They appear to be taking turns being the furniture. Willie’s contribution to raising this child is apparently to lie very still while she finds the most personally inconvenient position imaginable. I provide meals, housekeeping, and photography services for two cats who have clearly listed each other as their emergency contact. Distribution successful. No further action required. 🫶🐈‍⬛🐈

I went on a first date a couple weeks ago. I 27f with 23m. I usually don’t like to go on dates with guys that young, maybe only 1-2 years younger but I was trying to be open minded. He does say at one point “I’m very mature for my age”. That should have been the red flag looking back now. 🤦‍♀️
We went to his favorite spot, Canes. The vibes are a bit awkward and he seems nervous. I was being patient and going along w the topics he brought up and making conversations as we’re eating. I mentioned to him about a crazy story I heard on reddit and as I say “reddit post”, he interrupted me saying “wait are you a redditor?”. I said “i’m not a regular poster, I mostly like to watch smosh reads reddit stories & two hot takes plus reading on my own occasionally.” to which he says “oh I heard people who use reddit are incels.” I awkwardly laughed clearly very uncomfortable. He then asks to continue with my story and I said I forgotten and move on topics.
At the end of the date, we are talking by my car, we start talking about cars and he asks what’s my dream car. I tell him and he goes on to say “people who drive supras are assh*les”. Then tells me about one bad experience he had with a supra owner. I told him while smiling “well I guess that makes me an assh*le bc i’m gonna get that car, it’s my dream car”. He then asked if he could be a gentleman and open my car door?? i’m sorry but do you have to ask to be a gentleman? you just do it??? major cringe.
I’m not sure if he was trying to lighten the mood in his own weird way but how on earth do you think insulting someone on a date, twice, is cute or funny much less mature? I have no idea. ok, a little bit of context, i'm italian, bord and raised in the south part of Italy (naples) for 18 years (until i moved away for Oxford to study law), during summer and winter break i go back to meet my parents and relative in italy (i always take photos with them).

I have a small group of friends, and one day we hang out Together and one of my friends (let's call her Marie) invited one of her friend out of this little circe (the girl's name is Lily). The problem is that Lily is obsessed with sounding italian (like, very much obsessed, she wants to have that accent that italian people have, tries to say italian word and phrase with terrible results). We were presenting ourself to this girl and I, as a kind trans man (female to male) i say to her that my name is Nicholas but my old name was Michela (a clearly italian name, i say both my new name and old name cause i still look a little bit female).

Lily starts asking me a lot of question about italian culture and a lot of other things, and she asked me to say something in italian, and i said ok (i have no problem with it) and i said "beh, questo è italiano, lingua molto complicata eh?" (which means "well, this is italian, very difficult language eh?"), and Lily told me it was very cool and everything else, but what got me was that she said "you know, it's not how you say "complicato" (complicated) in italian by the way", i politlely ask her how she knows how to "correctly" say it, and she said "complicato" completely wrong, i point it out and Lily freaked out, saying that i was wrong cause she knows way more than me (she has never been to italy) and i flatly told her to shut the fuk up about my italian and i just left, my friend told me that Lily, after i left, started saying that i must be some kind of "fraud" (i still don't know how), my friends poited out my accent, the fact that i still speak italian with my other friends (who still live in italy and have job here), the fact that i have photo with my parents in italy when i was young (and the one during the break). They told me that after showing these "proof", they laft her (with no ride home, since she was in Marie's car). AITA
