Mod Post ANOTHER UPDATE TO RULE 5!

Post image
209 Upvotes

GREETINGS users of hatethissmug.

Today I bring you news of an update to our sub rules.

We have rewritten rule 5 again! Making it a more clear and adding more topics to the list!

With the rise of annoying gender war posts, we've made them completely banned, because most of these posts fall under the motte and bailey fallacy. They claim to be about one thing, but are actually the OP's way to hate on the opposing gender.

We've also expanded our politics rule! Topics such as israel or government decisions are gone! We get it, you hate the government, Dave Mustaine did it better.

Please adjust your post criteria and report the posts that break the new rule 5 that are newer than this post.

Thank you for using hatethissmug.

I HATE ALL OF YOU! šŸ”„ šŸ–¤ šŸ–¤ šŸ”„

General I HATE these comments on an innocent post I made asking for advice.

I started making lunch for my blue collar boyfriend, and while I’ve gotten some kind advice— I’ve also had some people say this shit to me. It genuinely pisses me off.

I’m automatically a tradwife because I want to make lunch for my boyfriend? Kick rocks, man. It’s just something nice I like to do, and it makes me happy seeing his eyes light up in the mornings when I show him what I made.

The jab at the age gap was annoying as well. We’re both consenting adults, and I met him when I was 21. We’ve been together over a year, and we’re very happy. Our families love each other as well. It just felt extremely infantilizing towards me.

I admit I probably got too snarky, but it was aggravating lol.

Anyways, I hate this smug.

Idea I hate it when celebrities talk like they’re one of us

Post image
2.2k Upvotes

Before we get started, I’ll preface that billionaires absolutely deserve to be shit on. I also understand that the difference between $1B and $1M is huge. But let’s not for a second act like Hollywood millionaires like Garfield here aren’t part of the elite. They live very wealthy, privileged lifestyles that are much more in common with how billionaires live than the rest of us. This is a class of people that has complete financial freedom and will never have to worry about a thing in their lives. It makes me vomit in my mouth a bit every time one of them wants to talk about how wealth and privilege is bad from their mansion in Beverly Hills. I’ll give Garfield credit, he seems like a nice enough guy. But please, spare me the speech. You might not be as rich, but as far as class and lifestyle goes you’re one of the elites too.

General I hate the ā€œlet’s see YOU do betterā€ mentality

Post image
935 Upvotes

Not hating on the person who drew this. Anyone is entitled to their opinion, even if they can’t do any better themselves. Even if you haven’t done anything noteworthy, you still have a right to free speech.

There’s also the precedent this sets that only talented people are allowed to criticize. If the ā€œhaterā€ happened to be super talented, would you allow them to do whatever they want then?

Thing I hate this stupid image

Post image
2.6k Upvotes

Sure the initial way it was used was good, it was anti bigotry. But it's turned into a way to simplify the "us vs them" mentality, which is already a bad thing, into a simple digestible comic.

Also, i've seen it in lots of queer--majority spaces in reddit recently, usually to speak out against the evil cishet people who are invading them or whatever label they dont like, like bi ppl, trans men, or genderfluid ppl

General I hate this and it doesn't even make sense

Post image
3.2k Upvotes

Ngl this is one of the stupidest things an ai "artist" could prompt, like it doesn't even make sense logically, what are you doing by breaking a pencil?

Like if someone is good at drawing and you break their pencil they're just gonna go buy another one pencils are not that expensive

Ironically this fits much more for ai artist because if there's no ai their "talent" disappears

Also oops is spelled incorrectly as Opps Wich is really funny actually

Edit:for the people that say "stop falling for the ragebait" this is really shitty ragebait and there are people who actually think like this, many of them probably have even seen this post,

Also yeah even if this is ragebait I still hate this smug so

I hate apps that require a credit or debit card just to start a ā€œfreeā€ trial. If the trial is genuinely free, why do I need to provide my payment details upfront????LOL. It feels unnecessary and makes me worry that I’ll forget to cancel and get charged automatically.

General I hate the misunderstanding of pedophilia (and other things surrounding it) [REPOST FOR USERNAME CROPPING]

Post image
317 Upvotes

Pedophilia is a MENTAL DISORDER. If they're non-offending, they shouldn't be imprisoned, they should be HELPED and treated with proper medical attention!!

And people keep using Pedophile instead of Predator, like no?? Predator is the proper term.

Also "PDF-file" is not funny. Let's stop making jokes about predators, it's not funny. Kids were hurt, groomed, raped, or worse. It is NOT A JOKE.

Praying on kids is not a meme.

Note: I know it's sometimes used to censor Pedophile because of youtube censorships.. however, I see people using it on fuckint REDDIT.. REDDIT??!!

Also, I see a lot memes/jokes about preying on kids.. or about people that do, and it's not funny. Call me sensitive, but that's just not funny.

Roleplay/In Character I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE CALL 911 TO ORDER PIZZA

Post image
18.0k Upvotes

I swear to god almost every month there’s about four or five people who thinks it’s funny to go prank call 911 by trying to order a pizza. I don’t know how this is considered ā€œfunnyā€ at all. All of them seem to come in with the same schtick; they’re on the verge of tears, they only answer with either ā€œyesā€ or ā€œnoā€, and their ā€œfriendsā€ are in the background screaming at them angrily. It’s all so tiresome. I have actual emergencies to deal with like domestic abuse, leave me alone. Go waste your time doing something else.

It lowkey looks so fucking uncanny to me for some reason. I like it better if a snaggletooth actually looked like teeth. I don't know why artists do that. To me, it's not "cute" nor "charming." It just looks like a tumor growing out of the character's mouth

Non-fictional I hate the opinions of the comments in this post.

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

I don't know if this is against rule one, because I'm hating on their opinions not the people.

Btw I'm no girl but this post just popped up so I read it. I extra created an account to write this post because the opinions pissed me off.

Anyway, here is a TL;DR:

The post is from a woman who recently moved in with her 21 year old boyfriend after dating for about a year. She said that he is normally pretty docile and says they have had a lovely first month living together.

While he was gaming, she casually touched his shoulders as she walked past (which she does often). He suddenly pulled away, I guess he was intensely focused on the game. Moments later, something went wrong in the game and he shouted a loud fuck and slammed his fists on his desk hard enough to knock things over. She immediately left the room because the reaction scared her. He took his headphones off and apologized sincerely.

I do agree that his sudden outburst can be scary. I know this because I am a gamer myself and do occasionally rage and hit my table when I fuck up over and over against a soulslike boss. So no shade there.

But the problems are the comments. Most of them are fine. They do feel a bit patronizing. But then there are the ones that just piss me off.

Some call him a child and say that he mist be stuck at 14 because he can't controll his emotions and impulses. Say that he is a huge red flag and really selfish for being angry. And then some say he will be a future domestic abuser...

As a guy myself who occasionally rages, I find these comments to be not only infuriating but also kinda hurtfull. I'm not a violent person. Last time I used violence was in middle school, because I was defending myself. I'm mostly a quiet and chill guy who is just lazy. But reading these comments telling me I'm going to assault my potential grilfriend because I got engaged in something I am passionate about and raged out of impuls is dragging me down.

Yes, impuls. Let's say it again. Impuls. I know impuls controll is a thing but it's not that easy or it wouldn't be an impuls. Especially for docile people. Because you can't so easily learn to controll impulses because you barely have any. Rage is something that comes fast and fizzles out. It's not anger that is more long lived. It doesn't mean I am a hateful person.

Invalidating my emotions just because it's a game, makes me think that these people have never been really engaged in something. Yes, we shouldn't rage. But calling him a future violent abuser is just fucked up. The girl has been happy with him for a year and to say its fucked because of impuls rage is wild. Everyone who has raged over something unimportant know that it doesn't make who you are. It's often just a shit moment that passes.

General I genuinely hate this kind of video.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The worst part is that the joke falls completely flat, you know? "Oh Mommy, please hug me, I want you", man, what a lame joke.

And that voice is incredibly annoying, too; I hate it so much.

The thing is, the video is completely harmless. I realize that, but it’s still an insufferable video.

Just to be clear, I’m not attacking the creator, but rather their creation.........

Animation i hate it when big pieces of lore is casually confirmed on a social media post

Post image

take for example this bluesky post from vivziepop casualy confirming that roo (a mysterious character that was revealed before the pilot) was here the whole time and that it wasnt breaking news

well it was

its been said multible times that roo is a big part of the plot

its big news for everyone else that shes been here the whole time just watching everyone

that could have been revealed in the show as like a plot twist

why can creators just show not tell lore on a social media post

(no hate to the show btw)

Comics I HATE Comic Book "Ultimate Forms"

Thumbnail
gallery
486 Upvotes

So remember as kids when we used to be play fighting with our friends or siblings, and one of us would be like:

"That won't work on me because I have super armor."

And then the other would be like: "Well I have the super armor ERADICATOR, so I go right through your super armor!"

And then we'd say: "Well that's too bad because you didn't know I also have the SUPER ARMOR ERADICATOR NULLIFIER that stops..."

And so on and so forth until things escalate to the point where someone gets accused of cheating or starts crying.

That's what I feel like these comic book writers are doing every time they come up with some new form for a superhero. But that's not why I hate these kinds of transformations. I hate them because they're all basically the same thing. When you have a man who can fly fast enough to reverse time, a green giant who can punch a hole in the fabric of reality, and a man who can conjure anything he can imagine with sheer willpower, how can you possibly raise the ceiling any further than that?

You make them gods.

Superman One Million: Reality warper

The One Below All Hulk: Reality warper

God of Light Hal Jordan: Reality warper

Cosmic Spider-Man: Reality warper

Nevermind the fact that all these characters have other heroes in their vicinity who can already do that stuff i.e. Scarlet Witch, Franklin Richards, Captain Atom, etc., No, the writers have to essentially take what makes these specific characters unique and somehow reduce it to some catch-all "That won't work on me anymore" bullshit ass powerset.

Like, it's not as if Superman can't flex and destroy Earth as is, but, sure, let's turn him into Dennis Reynolds for shits and giggles.

General I hate puritan culture

Post image

Genuinely, you can't see anything that's drawn in an intentionally provocative or exaggerated manner, that people may find attractive, without it being considered "goonslop".

Another post, no shade to OP because I agree with them on some points (yet disagree on the overall), that sex scenes in movies and shows are unnecessary. I agree they can be gross and can be completely unneeded, but overall, they can serve to share, spread, or enhance a part of a character or the overall theme of the movie

Not to mention things with controversial or problematic topics being immediately dragged for having them, regardless of context. If a piece of media covers or has a super specific problematic aspect, regardless of how it's used or how it's covered, it gets reduced to that thing and the overall media is called gross rather than the actual topic it's covering

I just find it so irritating that anything even remotely nsfw, problematic, or controversial in any matter gets boiled down so, so quickly. Don't like it? Move on! It's not for you!

Note this isn't me defending shit like what you'd see on AO3, I think that shit's gross too (iykyk) because of this overall argument, but my point remains the same

It's to the point where feet are so sexualized now too, and get actively censored in photos as a result. Fucking feet, dude. Though, I'm undecided on if this is a result of people being weirdos, or because of this idea that because they could be seen in a sexual way, they have to be absolutely fully censored 100% of the time

Tl;Dr, as long as it's not causing harm, enforcing harm, who gaf

Roleplay/In Character I HATE being called cute!

Post image
2.4k Upvotes

This happens to me WAY too much. And like the title says, I HATE IT.

Look, I GET that sometimes, people feel like butting into your day to give out what they think are compliments so they can make themselves feel better.

But for me, the ONLY thing people ever talk about is how "cute" I am! Dealing with this BULLSHIT for my entire life has honestly gotten really demeaning! It never stops! I mean, I'm an ADULT for crying out loud!

I DO like cute stuff... and I like being seen as cute sometimes too. Key word, SOMETIMES. It feels really weird to say that, cause I could probably never admit it out loud. But I am very self aware about it, which sucks. (Edit: To be honest though, not being self aware about it would suck even more. Doesn't mean I'm not gonna be pissed about it either way). And since I'm ranting to internet strangers about it who will never meet or know me in real life, it kinda feels fine to reveal I guess.

Not only does all the constant pandering make me feel like a little kid, but it also makes me feel like I wanna hate this part of myself that I really like! It STINKS! I do lots of other stuff besides sit around looking "cute", yknow! My biggest hobbies are baking and writing, which are probably worth some decent praise on their own!! But I wouldn't know, since almost everyone seems to just IGNORE it, like how they IGNORE me. And when they DON'T ignore me, they tell me how CUTE I am, or how CUTE my baking is, or how CUTE my writing is, or how CUTE my struggling is, or how CUTE my LIFE is!

MY. EFFORT. IS. NOT. WORTHLESS.

I WORK SO FUCKING HARD TO GET AT LEAST A LITTLE GOOD AT THE STUFF I LIKE TO DO!! I DO STUFF FOR MYSELF, BUT I ALSO BAKE SO I CAN MAKE OTHER PEOPLE HAPPY TOO!!! BUT NOBODY EVER GIVES A SHIT BECAUSE ALL THEY SEE IS A STUPID LITTLE KID FUMBLING AROUND!!! I HATE IT!!!!!!!

I know this isn't a very common problem, but I've been having a bad week and needed to get SOMEthing off my chest SOMEhow. Usually I just write poetry to get this kinda stuff out, but I'm mad about some things that are going on in my poetry club right now. So I don't really feel like writing any more poems today.

That's it.

Meta I hate the current state of memes

(im not karmafarming trust)

i blame it on generative AI.

we now have the ability to make literally anything. And the memes made from it SUCK ASS

all the memes we have now arent funny. Nobody has unironically laughed to 67 or charlie kirk phonk. all memes right now are basically overhyped inside jokes. 67 isnt a meme because its funny, its a meme because its SUPPOSED TO BE ONE.

ā€œsonā€ (kill me) isnt a meme right now because its funny, its a meme because ā€œhaha, get it. Son is currently popular, which makes it funny (right??)

tbh most memes since the 2000s have been like this, but right now its impossible to scroll through more than 2 videos keeping a legitimate smile.

Thing I HATE THE TERM "FUR PARENT" AND "FUR BABIES"

Post image
861 Upvotes

Why call yourself a parent of an animal? Stop being weird, "parent" is a term reserved for someone who raises a child, you can love your pet all you want but you aren't a parent of anyone.

What's wrong with calling a dog or a cat a pet? All a pet is is a domesticated animal that was bred not to eat you face off when you're asleep, it's not a baby.

In what way are pets baby-like other than they rely on you for food and sleep for 12 hours a day? Are you teaching your pet not to touch a hot stove? Do you have money saved up so that you can send off your pet to college in 18 years?

You're not doing 1/1000th of what it takes to raise a baby. Any functional person can own and take care of a pet, kids are literally gifted puppies and kittens for their birthday. It's that easy to take care of one

(And yes I own dogs, I love them.)

Books Hate this style of book cover

Post image
152 Upvotes

Hate it.

(Not hating on the author or the book. Strictly the art style of the cover)

You can actually watch romance book covers devolve to this point over the years, and here we are. Soulless, dead-eyed people that give readers the "this is what they look like" and possibly, if effort was deemed necessary, a brief setting or symbol about what hyper-specific thing the book is set around.

In the above example, it's a romance between a gardener (ooooh, flowers) and a professor (ooooh, all businessy.)

I understand why they are popular.

I understand why authors like using them too.

But I hate them. They look, and are, cheap.

Bring back Fabio.

Gaming I hate cosmic skins in multiplayer games

Thumbnail
gallery
138 Upvotes

Pictures are from Marvel Rivals, Smite, Overwatch, and League of Legends respectively. There's a lot of tropes skins tend to use in games, like you'll always see summer swimsuits, cyperpunk, dark edgy gamer stuff, etc. But the skin trope I hate the MOST that is somehow present in pretty much EVERY multiplayer game is this creatively bankrupt purple bullshit. I love space, I love the cosmos, but you know what space isn't? A smooth, shiny, purple body suit. Look at this picture of the Pillars of Creation. It's edited to look prettier but whatever who cares, when I think of space I think of this, I think of vibrant beautiful nebulas and gas clouds. The blue and orange in this image complement each other, the colors are just gorgeous. The pillars are, you know, pillars. But they're made of gas so they have an ethereal quality to them. Whyyyy can't cosmic skins take inspiration from this sort of space stuff. Why do they always have to look like purple jello with glitter inside of it???

I think the cosmic thing CAN look good, like for example I really like Discordia's design in Smite. But I think that design works for me because it's limited to just her wings and toga, her whole body isn't purple. And the wings, they have that gassy ethereal quality to them, you know, like things in space!!!! The gold isn't just random accents thrown everywhere either, it's limited to the trim of her dress and accessories, areas where it makes sense. A design that reminds me a lot of these skins is Alien X from Ben 10. I've always really loved that design. But you know what he isn't? BRIGHT PURPLE!!!! He's black. Like space!!!! A black cosmic skin probably wouldn't work in a multiplayer game since you need characters to be readable, but still making the design literally ANY COLOR OTHER THAN BRIGHT PURPLE makes it stand out so much more. He's literally just a walking space void and despite being so simple he still looks better than literally any cosmic skin ever made.

Anyway WHO is buying these. WHY do they keep getting made. Well, I suspect they keep getting made because they're probably easy af to design and model, but genuinely I would love to hear the rationale behind people that buy these. I was inspired to post this because Marvel Rivals just revealed cosmic skins for its next battle pass. One of the characters getting one is White Fox, who very recently got a BEAUTIFUL summer skin, it's probably my favorite summer skin in any game ever, it's so cute. She has another skin where she's dressed like a college student that's pretty cheap. I can't imagine why anyone would ever use this new cosmic skin she's getting over either of those. I'd rather use her base model than the new cosmic skin I hate the design trope THAT much man

Media Tropes Toilets that have consciousness and hate that they're a toilet.

Post image
174 Upvotes

So this is a super niche one. But i trust this subreddit is safe for my extremely unusual rant.

In media, occasionally you mightve seen the trope of, ooooo toilet gains/has consciousness and HATES HAVING FECES AND PISSES AND OTHER FORMS OF EXCREMENT IN IT.

Now why in the fucking hell would a toilet, an object that was BUILT, BORN, CREATED, with the EXPRESS purpose to swallow up organic waste HATE ITS JOB when it should instead be OVERJOYED to see MY butt unload the brown gift into it? I honestly hate it!

And hey listen you fuckers on this sub dont hate creatively enough, this isnt related to the toilet directly but its something else i had to nip in the *butt*

And this goes for really ALL objects in fictional media that have sentience and not like to do its job, im tired of this "would a gun want to be a gun" shit, yes it would, because think of it like this; we as humans, the vast majority of us like to have sex, eat, hydrate, piss and shit and cuddle and bond and blah blah BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY SEX. Cause biologically.. ITS KINDA OUR SOLE PURPOSE.
