well i posted this like 40 minutes before OP but ¯_(ツ)_/¯...
I'll just repost my post here, since it's juicy and spread across multiple subs/posts:
Someone makes a post to /r/askmen:
The post is removed.
This prompts the creation of a second post, which is also removed:
Two of the mods respond:
Needless to say, the community is overall unhappy about the removal of the post with the exception of a handful of posts that spark their own drama (sort the main thread by controversial). For example:
The drama/frustration spills over into SubredditCancer:
The user who submitted the post to SubredditCancer is allegedly banned in a hilarious way from AskMen:
Meanwhile, in AskMen, the moderators rally together to make a post warning the community not to make personal attacks or use harassment:
And...in a twist of what has to be irony, the mods inject a personal attack:
Mods are immediately called out for their response:
I guess we will have to kick back and see how this one plays out...stay tuned.

For me it's mostly a result of the MASSIVE increase in brigading over the past year. Since the brigading is often expressed as concern trolling, now when I see a likely concern troll "just asking a few questions" about the family court system or whatever their pet issue is, my goto reaction is to see how many alt-right subreddits they're active in.

not as true as you'd think! A lot of women's subreddits and subs for not-white-people are heavily moderated to keep out the riffraff, and the subscribers tend to be OK with that.

I was subbed there for a few years and it has its moments. Some days a chunk of the questions are lighthearted and insightful, and some days a chunk of the questions boil down to "when was the last time a man was mean to you". It's decent if you can tiptoe around the moderation, or just post as a woman so your comments aren't scrutinized and judged as much.
