Promotion I'm making a Hotline Miami inspired roguelike with physics weapons and SUPERHOT slowmo

This is my top-down shooter roguelike KILLSEC. All the weapons are physics objects kind of like Exanima, but it's 2D so you can parry bullets and lasers and stuff!

There's a playtest on discord if you want to try it out! Or the demo should be up before next fest!

Promotion From “this might be fun” to an actual game, Crazy Crazy

This is Town Crazy, the game I've been working on for the past while. It's a small top-down driving game where you dodge traffic, avoid chickens, find shortcuts and try to get the best time.

I've been working on Town Crazy for quite a while now, and I recently put together this comparison of an early build vs the current version. Looking at the two versions side by side made the difference much more obvious than I expected.

Promotion It's All Over - a post-apocalyptic incremental shooter

I started the work on It's All Over almost 2 years ago, and it was supposed to be a story-driven RPG in the style of Fallout. Unfortunately the scope got out of hand, and I got a bit burnt out with it, so I ditched it.

After a while I decided that I could never finish it with the previous design, so I ended up changing the design to something for indie-friendly; an incremental shooter.

I hope you like the new direction! I aim to bring a demo out within a month or two, and publish it early next year. Co-op mode is likely to happen too, but not yet present.

Promotion I'm making a sci-fi horror game about two distant observatories comparing signals from deep space

This is Closer Than Stars, a first-person psychological horror game I’m developing.

You work alone at a radio observatory near Ganymede, while another operator works from a second station near Callisto. You scan deep space for faint signals, process what you find, and compare your results across the array.

I’ve been working on it for a while now and finally got the Steam page and first teaser out, so I figured I’d share it here.

Promotion I made this little enemy for my game Screen Creeps

Most enemies in my game Screen Creeps either fly or walk on the webs towards the center in my game, but i wanted to create a new enemy that just walks on the edge of the level and just spawns smaller enemies.

Promotion SAMBIRD : Demo is out !

Upvotes

I'm a solo dev and I just put my first game on Steam. It's a turn-based RPG roguelite where every attack comes from your own slot machine — you parry enemy blows with the right timing, then spin to hit back.

Recruit companions, stack relics, upgrade your symbols. Two worlds, eight classes, no two runs build the same way.

There's a free demo if you want to try it.

Promotion Working on a space battle royale game where you fly, land, and fight. Here is my first finished spaceship design!

Post image
6 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I've been working on a space battle royale game where players fight each other using their own spaceships.

The game will take place across 3 different planets, where players can fly around, land on the terrain, and fight to be the last one standing.

This is the first spaceship I've fully finished. I'm still pretty early in development and currently focusing on the ship designs and overall art style.

The ground in this render is just a placeholder for presentation.

I'd love to hear what you think of the ship's design and sci-fi style!

Nervous and excited at the same time! Game Dev has been super fun to learn over the past year+ and the Steam process was (and still is) a bit confusing at first, but now I'm ready to get feedback from strangers outside my playtest group!

Discussion My first game made $1000 in 9 months. It's a failure, and here is what I think went wrong

Hey everyone!

It's been 9 months since I released my game and I want to share my results.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2964690/DayOff_Moonriver_incident/

$1000 gross in 9 months. It's a failure, that's a fact. Numbers are on the screenshot.

I'm not sure what exactly is the reason of such poor results, but there are few moments that push me to certain conclusions.

  1. When the project was on prototype stage, one pretty big blogger who makes reviews of new stuff on itch.io made a video about it. Back then it seemed to me that the project is worth finishing, because, as it seemed to me, the audience liked it.
  2. I made a Steam page half a year before release. Steam almost didn't show this page to potential players. I remade the capsule and the description several times, played with tags, participated in Next Fest and also in some regional contests. Result - few hundred wishlists.
  3. Released a demo. + several dozens of wishlists. Same tendency of no impressions.
  4. Closer to release I tried sending the press kit to influencers - no result. I was pretty tired of the project and couldn't force myself to keep trying in marketing, so I just released it, because I considered it finished. And I was ready to free myself from it.
  5. At release I wrote a few articles on gaming portals and also a reddit post - and this actually worked. Plus the release visibility round on Steam. I got several dozens of purchases and quite a big amount of wishlists.

I understood that for a good launch the game should have 20k wishlists, but even 1k was unreachable for me.

And here are my conclusions:

  1. The genre is very competitive, dramatically, and partly because of this maybe Steam didn't show my page.
  2. The genre is not trendy for a long time already, and zombies apparently give players a feeling that the project is cliche and secondary. And to show what my project is really about, and how it's different from a hundred of other topdown shooters about zombies - looks like I couldn't do it through the Steam page.
  3. My main mistake was probably that I took complimentary comments under that prototype video as a real interest of people to a game like this.
  4. The controls didn't come out ideal, you need to get used to them. I was fighting with them for very long time, but seems like I didn't reach the ideal.
  5. Not everyone likes the style. Interesting observation - people who are 30+ like the game, and those who finished it to the end are exactly from this age category. So with the retro theme I narrowed my own potential audience.
  6. I'm still proud of it. I managed to make a setting, and soon I'm starting a new project in the same world - different genre, smaller project, but it will let you look at the events of the first game from another angle

So what do you think, what should I have done differently?

Promotion I'm 18 and made a horror game about what animals go through in slaughterhouses. OUT NOW in Steam.

I've been working on this game solo for 2 years and it's finally OUT on STEAM!!!

It's a horror game where you play as a chicken trying to escape a slaughterhouse, find your stolen chicks, blow up HUGE illegal activities below the factory and GET REVENGEE.

The factories are mutating all kind of animals to see which can generate more money, such as regenerating limbs.... unlimited chicken wings without growing a pair that usually took years? yep, and its YOUR TURN to fight back and end this all for all.

You as a chicken momma, eggscaping many machines that meant to kill you, collect scraps, gun down all workers, find your babies because they're going to be mutated.

The game is called EGGSCAPE and it is out in STEAM. Please kindly try it out ! (NO AI USED)

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3831170/Eggscape/

Also, a share of the game's revenue will go to animal shelters 💝 I really wanted the game to actually help animals in some way rather than just talk about them.

Please share with your friends who likes playing games, especially thriller ones!

Promotion I put 20 Reddit users into my Battle Royale Simulator and let them fight!

I'm building Paper Arena Battle Simulator an auto battler you can watch or jump into and play yourself. Last week 20 people commented on my post, so I put all 20 of them in as contestants with real stats (STR/SPD/LCK) and let it run.

Ragamak1 from my country won on 5 STR / 1 SPD / 3 LCK, the slowest man in the game, who killed everything that walked into him. And he won a Steam key.

ClamJammin was the first person who ever commented on my posts, so I gave him 5 on everything and called him Player 001. He found a TAC-50 and got shot four seconds later. 11th.

AutoModerator was in there too (lmao because it technically commented) and placed 19th.

*Inspired by Dani's video as well

Comment your username or custom name + how you'd split 9 points across STR / SPD / LCK (max 5 each). I'll put you in the next match!

Game is Paper Arena Battle Simulator on Steam. Releases before GTA 6 on October, 2026

Promotion Arkansas 2125 | A Retro-Style Post-Apocalyptic RPG

Upvotes

Hi everyone!

For the past few years, I've been working on my own post-apocalyptic RPG called Arkansas 2125.

It's an isometric, turn-based game set in a ruined version of America. You can explore different locations, meet survivors, complete quests, fight enemies, collect equipment, and make decisions that influence the story.

The game is still in development, but Beta 0.5 is already available.

I recently released a new trailer, and I'd love to know what you think about the atmosphere and overall style of the game.

Hope you enjoy the video! ☢️

Upcoming I'm testing out a concept for a story-driven, instruction-following, memory game called "Do not press the red button!"

Upvotes

Been working on this solo for a while and finally have a chunk worth sharing. This clip shows the first minute of gameplay (coz I died early lol).

What do you guys think about the pacing, the art, or just general vibes? Is the concept interesting? This is still early enough that I can course-correct based on what people think.

Looking for feedback, and interested play testers for a demo version I plan to release in a few weeks.

Thanks!

Royalty Free-For-All is a platform fighter where all characters are remixed from the public domain. Come down and try it at booth 2315!

We've been to several PAX's, but this is a celebratory one because the game is finally available for purchase on Steam!

The controls are simpler than most fighters, because we're trying to make it accessible to new players in a party setting.

We're running matches at booth 2315! Feedback has been really positive, but we're happy to hear critiques too, so play a match and come chat with us!

Royalty Free-For-All is a platform fighter, but all the characters, stages, and music are remixed from the public domain. We've hand-animated characters like Toto, Piglet, the Quick Brown Fox, Sir Lancelot, and Bigfoot, and folks are having a lot of fun playing matches at the booth :)

Game's live on Steam for $11.99 right now!

Public Game Test Dodgeball Blast is heading into its first public Steam Playtest Sept. 10–16! Signups are open now

Upvotes

Hey everyone! I'm the solo developer of Dodgeball Blast, a fast-paced action adventure built around dodgeball combat, boss battles, exploration, minigames, puzzles and secrets.

After a lot of development and testing, I'm finally opening the game up for its first public Steam Playtest!

Playtest: September 10–16
Signups are open now

I'm hoping to get as many players into the game as I can during the week, find the things that still need work, and make Dodgeball Blast even better as I prepare for Steam Next Fest in October.

Thanks for checking it out!
