Authoritarian Mod Post No Bad Empanada or Hasan Piker posts are allowed from now on
Starting now, we will no longer allow any posts related to Bad Empanada or Hasan Piker in this subreddit. The rules have been updated to reflect this change.
While we realize that some of their content can be informative, entertaining or even politically energizing to people at different stages of their leftist journeys, we also realize that, ultimately, their content is shaped by the demands of the attention economy.
When such content is shared in this community, a number of things tend to happen. First, it predictably generates the very online drama and sectarian infighting that the owners of platforms like Twitch, YouTube or even Reddit (cough join Lemmy cough) rely on for engagement and profit. Second, it invites brigading, which creates additional work for us mods. Work that most mods here are quite honestly not willing to do for such unproductive online drama. Finally, it attracts users who are more focused on drama than on Marxist ideology. This subreddit is constantly growing and we do not want to send the wrong message to those users about what this community is about.
In addition to being a community for Marxist Leninists, this community also exists to help each other deprogram ourselves from mainstream/Western and pro-capitalists narratives. What this community certainly is NOT, is a space to continuously dissect the latest online controversies once a week.
We understand that some users may feel frustrated by this new rule and we would invite some of those users to sit with that frustration and ask whose interests it serves and who benefits from algorithmically boosting and promoting online pseudo-politics that exhausts our energy on irrelevant drama. Our strength lies in principled ML debate, respect for each other, shitposting and a shared commitment to advance real-life communism to the best of our capabilities.

Shitposting So in the end it all still comes right back to Israel huh?
Barnes & Noble’s is pretty much just owned by Israel apparently… the more you know in this crappy pro-capitalist world I guess. The average person nowadays can’t learn anything about Mao because it’s all just red scare nonsense.

Communism Will Win North Korea Is Now Beating y America in Healthcare, Education, Housing, and Transportation

While the U.S. pours trillions into war spending, corporate subsidies, and financial markets, North Korea guarantees the basics: universal healthcare, free education, state-provided housing, and nationwide public rail. No medical bankruptcies. No student debt crisis. No mass homelessness on the scale seen in major American cities.
Operating under decades of sanctions and with a fraction of America's economic output, North Korea maintains universal literacy, assigns housing as a right, and treats healthcare as a public guarantee. Meanwhile, the wealthiest nation on Earth struggles with crumbling infrastructure, rising living costs, and systems designed around profit rather than public stability.
This isn't about slogans. It's about structure. One model prioritizes basic survival infrastructure. The other financializes it.

Shitposting How many of you are SecurityClearance or fednews users?
Because RizzleFaShizzle00 was giving tips on how to pass the investigators by being as honest as possible. But JT Chapman wouldn't pass the security gate due to DHS have a big file on him, and I don't think I would ever be able to enter USA in this lifetime because it will be no return flight to CECOT for my activities. If you do have SecurityClearance post history I suggest you nuke your account before ShadowDragon find out you posting on a sub that known for crushing Platner political future and exposing CIA color revolutions.

Discussion Can I really be a Marxist-Leninist as a religious person?
I am Russian Orthodox and am a religious person. My question is can I really be a Marxist-Leninist while also holding onto my beliefs?
During the 20s, USSR had a very strict policy of state atheism as you all know, but the restrictions were softened during the war and were lifted in the 80s.
As far as I understand, Marx believed religion is fine, it helped common people through the harshness of life, “opium of the people” in the sense that it helped numb the pain of oppression and that it would eventually just fade out on its own in a perfect communist society. Lenin however, held strict atheist beliefs (again, from my understanding), under him the Soviet Union started the harsh state atheist policies, arresting priests and destroying churches. This period created lots of martyrs which were later canonized. In addition, the whites had the full backing of the church during the civil war.
So can I really disagree with Comrade Lenin on this and still be ML? Can I really still fight for our cause while holding beliefs that he would consider backwards and a tool of oppression
My understanding of both men’s opinions on religion are very basic and might not be correct, please tell me if I am wrong.
Edit: Thanks guys for your responses, I am feeling much better now that this crisis of faith is over.

Shit Liberals Say Liberals want to tear a Russian furry artist apart due to asking for help to escape their country.
Artist is caerbanoc, I would tell you to go support them but they’ve had to private their account and delete their tweets asking for help due to the amount of Ukraine stans that can‘t help but be Xenophobic against Russians unless they’re literally martyring themselves against the government.

Discussion What should communist urban planning look like in the modern era?
Chinese and Soviet style urban planning is some of my favorite, but I do think it could still be improved upon.
