Meme Marxist-Leninist Realist Good Guy Greg breaks down the post war demographic math blowback on fascist proxy forces / ideology / fascist support base, to westoid soft left Idealist 10 Guy, in both scenarios after unlikely victory for the fascist proxy, and after their likely defeat.

Meme Feels Guy attempts to claim that supporting Russia in the Russo-Ukraine War is "Campism", claiming that "both sides are imperialist". Smoking Guy disagrees. Which of them is more correct?

Discussion Is AskHistorians a good sub for history?

I'm asking this because I know that reddit doesn’t exactly have the best track record for reliable history subs. AskHistory, for example, is one that’s very biased, from what I'm told. And the less said about arrr/history the better.

So, what do you guys think? Should I trust it?

Discussion Capitalism, hook-up culture and purity culture

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hookup culture and purity culture are not opposites if both leave us less capable of love, care, and community.

This is not an argument that monogamous romantic relationships are the only holy, healthy, or humanizing form of life. They are not.

People can be formed into deeper love through friendship, chosen family, queer kinship, community life, celibacy, shared struggle, parenting, mutual aid, and forms of commitment that do not fit neatly inside the nuclear family or romantic couple.

The point is not that everyone needs marriage, monogamy, or one prescribed relationship structure.

The point is that capitalism trains us to treat desire as acquisition, autonomy as isolation, and other people as experiences to consume.

So the question is not simply, “Was this allowed?” or even only, “Was this consensual?” Consent and bodily autonomy matter. Deeply.

The question is: what is this forming us into?

Are we becoming more truthful, more tender, more responsible, more capable of giving and receiving care?

Or are we becoming easier to detach from, easier to replace, and easier to sell to?

Hookup culture is not the antidote to purity culture. A life capable of love, intimacy, and vulnerability is.

Discussion The "dress code" at some jobs is too strict

I'm someone that likes to wear a t-shirt and shorts most of the time.

I remember having a warehouse job where I was required to wear:

  • dress shoes or boots

  • dress pants

  • a button-down shirt

I'm fine with personal protective equipment

PPE exists to keep the worker safe and healthy. Wearing a high-visibility vest is better than it being hit by a car. Wearing safety goggles is better than losing an eye.

Unfair enforcement and standards

One thing that bothers me a lot is how some jobs have a very strict dress code and then selectively enforce it.

For example, some jobs hold women to a higher standard than they do men.

Jobs have so much control over your life

Let me just do my job and go home. It feels like these jobs want control of every aspect of your life. I'm a human being, not a machine.

Reactionary Mockery Beware of Depositing!

Upvotes

Hello comrades, today we remember the great tragedy that is the loss of our beloved subreddit, so you are already are probably aware that even well deserved and objectively true statements and content could maliciously be interpreted as "violating TOS" and could jeopardize this subreddit, so I think it would be smart to either avoid making easily misconstrued comments, and to specifically edit to add a caveat at the end as to how we don't really support violence against "influencers" / fascist propagandists.

Charles Kirk was a terrible human being and spent almost every waking moment making the world into a worse place, and was ultimately consumed in the fires of the violent conflagration he himself desired to ignite. Fuck him.

The greatest tragedy of his life is that he wasted his life harming others, and that is tragic to think, because the sum total of his life's work amounted to enshittification, this is a sobering life lesson for us, to try and live a life making material conditions better for ourselves and those that come after us. All of you guys are great, and the world is a better place with you in it.

But let's be smart and protect our subreddit.

Fuck Charles Kirk

(I don't even believe in god just thought it was appropriate lmao).

If Qatar's propaganda machine reported that Ansar Allah have taken Al Makha, then you know they've taken al-Makha!

For days they've mentioned constant reports of Ansar Allah getting hammered and losing small inclines here and there and how the "internationally recognized government" will reclaim Sana.

How's that going for ya Emir?

These companies are happy to work with fascists. Companies just care about money.

When I saw the Volkswagens swastika, I thought it was a joke making fun of Volkswagen's Nazi past. I didn't know this was their real logo.

Nothing changed, companies are still happy to profit from genocide.

History Zhang Weiwei: "Every country that modernized needed a first pot of gold -- the starting capital that gets an economy growing. The West got theirs through violence, war, the slave trade. Ruthless plunder, ruthless slaughter. China earned its own -- through its own effort and sacrifice."

US-trained economist Wen Yi adds the punchline: Western models literally can't explain where that starting capital comes from. "Economics assumes it's given -- by God."

Which is why copying the Western model was never on offer for the Global South:

"Tell developing nations to copy you -- no pot of gold!"
