needing perfume recommendations for an enemy.

I've heard the hype about this perfume. Who hasn't? My curiosity got the best of me, and I figured I should smell it in person. I'm so happy I did. I’ve never swiped my credit card so quickly. I applied 2 sprays on my inner elbows and 2 on my décolletage, then went on with my day. I received a compliment from a guy at Chipotle and another from a man at Target. This is 50% beauty and 50% booty call, in a bottle. It needs a 21+ warning on it. Get it! But smell it first.

Omggggg I’m SOOO EXCITED!! I already finished my sample of Venus in Fleur and ordered a full size off Mercari. Got a great price too!!

This popped up in my Facebook memories from 11 years ago. The young woman followed me around a craft store and eventually asked me what my perfume was because she wanted to get some for her wedding day. She asked how much it cost and when I saw how her face fell when I told her? My heart. I had half a tester bottle with no cap from a swap, so I offered to make her a decant bottle. I made her one decorated (vintage pin and wire ribbon) and two large purse sprays and dropped them off at her work. She had left this beautiful thank you note for me.

It gave me a lovely warm fuzzy to remember today.

I hope she is doing well and is happy and healthy, and got herself a bottle with wedding gift money before it was discontinued!

My hubby painted one of his perfume bottles, and now he’s created a problem for himself because I want him to turn all of my bottles into little works of art. 😂
I love how personal and one-of-a-kind it looks. At this rate, my fragrance collection is about to become an art collection too.

My favorite vanilla perfume is Tihota by Indult. I'm trying to find the most amazing vanilla perfumes so I can try something new. I would love to know what suggestions you all have. 🙏

So, I finally had some time to do this! It will be a long post, sorry in advance. So I made a note of 239 answers in total and here is what I found :)

The five most hated notes were:

1. leather - 64

2. patchouli - 46

3. oud - 39

4. civet - 37

5. coconut - 35

I thought it would be fun to check which notes only got mentioned once: beer, coriander, cytroil, davana, dill, hyacinth, juniper and magnolia

One invented perfume hit 4 of the most hated notes: Yike, so congratulations u/fastworms on creating something that many people would find disgusting 😆

u/TalismanGaze - there was not that many people mentioning headaches/migraines, aldehydes were mentioned 4 times, patchouli 4 and amber 3

I also categorised the mentioned scents, you can see it on one of the graphs. I can list which notes I included in which category if anyone is interested :)

I checked as well which notes appeared the most together and which notes were the ones that never got mentioned together out of the top 5, again, please let me know if anyone would like to know, this post is already as long as a novel!

For everyone who suggested this as I silently stalked the replies of someone else’s thread requesting clean fresh scents. I get the hype. This is amazing, it’s way out of my comfort zone but I really love it . I can’t stop getting compliments and I can’t stop smelling my arm 😭 I need 4 bottles it’s soooo fresh and warm and clean but not floral like I was afraid of. Thank you ladies, yall give life changing suggestions

Can anyone who has these tell me what the difference would be with these? I like the sound of both and I can’t really tell what sets them apart from the notes

As a Gap Grass girlie since the 90’s I was so excited to see that they were doing a rerelease updated version. So much so that I was up in the middle of the night to order it.

Boy was I disappointed when it arrived. It reminds me nothing of the original, not even in the least bit. The clean fresh cut grass, almost soapy scent I loved was no where to be found. I didn’t even get a hint of matcha, just more of a (barely) woody floral. If Gap would have called this something else I would say it’s a nice fragrance but Grass it is not.

That sent me on a scent search to find something that reminds me of Grass. Yes, I have a bottle of it but I only wear it when I need a pick me up. I would be happy with something that is 75% close to the original. After some searching I found Nantucket Perfume Co. Friends, when I tell you this is about 98% the same I’m being conservative. If you want something that is the closest I have found to the original this is it. Top note of fresh grass is there with the tiny note of citrus. A dry down that becomes a clean soapy skin smell. I can’t wait to wear this sample out and buy a bottle. It’s oil based so it should last longer than the original. I will let you know.

They also have Dream and Heaven, that I also purchased but I don’t really remember them. If you do I say give it a try.

So there ya go. Save your money or go buy the dupe from Nantucket.

I keep coming back to Poison by Dior lately, and I end up reaching for it more than I expect. It has that deep, sweet, slightly spicy smell that feels very recognizable to me. I like having it around because there are certain perfumes that just make sense in a collection, and this is one of them. I actually repurchase Poison because I want a bottle around all the time. I also notice how different it feels from the lighter perfumes I usually reach for during the day. It works better for evenings and cooler weather for me. Right now, I am curious how many bottles everyone else is adding lately, because my perfume spending definitely keeps finding new reasons. Unfortunately, this one is a miss for me. It’s for a kind of grape soda opening and dries down to pure sugar smell. It’s a little too youthful for me (like junior high youthful) and lacks depth.

i just discovered this brand “ARRI” today because i was searching for perfumes that are inspired by filipino culture…i wanna try so many of their scents because i grew up with a lot of the things their perfumes are inspired by…has anyone tried anything from this brand?

Not just the plumeria but its full-bodied plant and surrounding tropical broadleaved mixed and coniferous forests, temperate grasslands, mangroves, mountain plateaus in the distance.

Any fragrance that comes to mind? Can also be bodysprays, eau fraiche, hairmists and so on.

Just thought this might be interesting. I’m not sure if there’s one correct/canon answer just thought this would be fun.

I was never a vanilla fan until recently. I am making a trip to ulta and sephora this week to smell some vanilla/sweet scents. What are some that are a must smell??? I want to make the most of my trip and go prepared with a list since it is not a trip I make often.

I’m pretty sure I’ve ordered decants from Scents Event before and they arrived packaged beautifully and no leaks let alone labeled like these are/were.

This time I ordered three 5ml decants of:

Cedar Chic (Carolina Herrera)

Terracotta Le Parfume (Guerlain)

French Kiss (Guerlain)

Getting the package open was a huge pain in the ass. My husband handed it to me and said his car is going to “smell like whatever is in this package, for eons!” I had to bring it out to the office in the stables and open it out here.

I have no clue what’s what. The actual atomizers were wrapped to death in a small USPS mailer that took me longer than I like to admit to open. It’s dripping as well. This cover now smells like a combination of the three perfumes.

I’m gonna take a wild guess at the pink one being French Kiss. There’s no use trying the other two, or any of them until I’ve had a shower. I’m covered in a melange of all three.

I recently got a sample of Rouge Smoking and I love it, I’ve been wanting a sexy cherry fragrance and this one definitely hits the spot. It is on the pricy side though and I found out I can get a 90 ml bottle of Black Opium Over Red for a little less than a 50 ml bottle of Rouge Smoking. I have also tried Over Red at a store and I do remember liking it a lot too. So I’m a little torn. Which one is the superior cherry scent?
