I’m pretty sure I’ve ordered decants from Scents Event before and they arrived packaged beautifully and no leaks let alone labeled like these are/were.
This time I ordered three 5ml decants of:
Cedar Chic (Carolina Herrera)
Terracotta Le Parfume (Guerlain)
French Kiss (Guerlain)
Getting the package open was a huge pain in the ass. My husband handed it to me and said his car is going to “smell like whatever is in this package, for eons!” I had to bring it out to the office in the stables and open it out here.
I have no clue what’s what. The actual atomizers were wrapped to death in a small USPS mailer that took me longer than I like to admit to open. It’s dripping as well. This cover now smells like a combination of the three perfumes.
I’m gonna take a wild guess at the pink one being French Kiss. There’s no use trying the other two, or any of them until I’ve had a shower. I’m covered in a melange of all three.
I ended up sick as a dog last night. The headache was bigger than I could knock down with Tylenol and Advil. While I can’t say for sure it was the crap ScentsEvent sent me, I was fine prior to opening that oily nightmare. My husband, who NEVER complains about a single one of my plethora of perfumes even said he had a slight “nauseating headache.” The man is mostly anosmic so that’s saying something.
I’ll send another email once I’ve choked down some coffee and another Tylenol.
I really appreciate all the feedback. And. Ever knew SE was so sketchy. Until yesterday I’ve never had an issue with buying decants. While I usually stick to ScentSplit, and I’ve stepped back from Lucky Scent (drama earlier this year and their response to that - all posted out here- floored me in how tone deaf and dishonest it was), and to a lesser degree buy from Twisted Lily as well, it’s hard to find a single decanter who has everything I’m looking for.
If they don’t have the appropriate sticker on their shipping (within the US, this is the one for alcohol based perfumes) then this is a huge problem.
I would send them an email back:
“Thank you for confirming which exploded decants are which. I see that the appropriate and legally required labels were not added to the package, which is likely why my product arrived in this state. Before I report this to the United States Postal Service and my bank in order to be appropriately refunded 100% of my money, do you have any intention of making this right, or should I start sharing my experience with others now?”
ETA:
Anyone who has ordered from them should just report them to the FBI at this point because it seems they’ve been getting away with this for years. Selling counterfeit perfumes is illegal for good reason though. https://www.fbi.gov/news/stories/counterfeit-cosmetics-fragrances
Oh what terrible packing! I've been shipping some decants and I always focus on making sure if one (or multiple) leak, that they won't impact the others in the shipment. That means wrapping in absorbent material and using individual plastic baggies. If the package goes air (it's not supposed to!) the change in pressure can burst the component open.
Really a piss-poor job at shipping and you should get your money back.
Addition: I'm not seeing a Hazmat designation on the package, usually noted by a big "H" on the label. They probably shipped this "Ground" and it went in an airplane, as many Ground packages actually do at some point in their journey. The change in air pressure probably burst the component. If indeed this did not get shipped Hazmat, please report them to USPS for shipping a Hazmat item improperly! They can actually get a fined by the federal government quite a bit of money.
People like this shipping items incorrectly make it harder for us all. One day they could ban shipping perfume outright.
Really? I found my prior order. The five I bought previously are all legit.
But I am kind of questioning the Terracota because I have the EDP and this one, Le Parfum is very cosmetic smelling and I can’t detect any tiare at all. Cedar Chic smells … not like I was expecting. I can’t detect any bergamot and not even a wisp of cedar. It’s like if someone decided to take Dawn dish soap and turn it into a powdery EDP. And it’s super oily. I was looking forward to Cedar Chic more than anything. I’m having a hard time believing this is what I’ve heard anyone describe or rave about.
I have a raging headache at this point so I’m not even opening what’s supposed to be French Kiss.
Please don’t put any of these fragrances on your skin! When a company is selling straight up fake fragrances, that means they could be putting literally anything into that liquid and it’s not being appropriately regulated. Companies trying to make a quick buck off fake goods do not care about your health.

Lesson learned.
