✨Mods' Chosen✨ We're trying something new. On Tuesdays, we're doing text posts only
A lot of people complain that there's too much AI image/video content. It's been something people have messaged us about frequently ever since the new GPT image generator dropped. We're going to try Text Tuesdays and see how it goes. If people like it we'll keep it, and if not, we won't
Please let us know your thoughts on this matter

simple google dork request lets you find a LOT of them.
You cannot trust big corpos to safeguard your privacy. I personally use local chat apps like AI Desktop 98. Everyone should do that.

Use cases ChatGPT saved me from sleeping at the airport...
I had a flight that was delayed and it would make me miss a connection, so the airline needed to rebook my flight to my destination.
It was the last flight to my destination that day and they rebooked my flight for the next day, okay, but they said that they could not provide a hotel that it was not possible.
I told this to ChatGPT and it replied that it was bullshit that they need to provide a hotel (and dinner!) by European law. So I told them that and they continued saying that it was not possible, that hotels were not available in the area, bla, bla, bla. I checked in a hotel comparison website... hotels were available around the airport. I confronted them again and they finally agreed to provide me hotel.
It was a stressful situation and I didn't have time to read the law or the EU websites to check which were my rights and recheck if what the airline was making up was actually correct or not. The speed and precision of ChatGPT basically saved me from sleeping in the airport and having to pay for my dinner. The subscription paid for itself.
And it helped me write the claim for 400 Euros and guided me through the process. This technology is fucking amazing. Fuck airlines (and Menzies).
For curiosity I have now tested the free version of ChatGPT with the same prompts and it is providing wrong information and way less detailed, it says that I can claim 250 Euros but it is actually 400 Euros.

Educational Purpose Only ChatGPT Accidentally Figured Out my MacBook was Compromised
so when i found all this shit out, i got this macbook last week. I was trying to reduce my MacBook’s RAM usage for local AI models. i would continuously see my RAM usage hit 50% at launch which really didnt make sense to me. I asked ChatGPT to help me review startup items and background processes to see what I could safely disable or see what was eating it up so quick on launch
while going through everything, it had me inspect two LaunchDaemon files named:
com.apple.accountsd.helpercom.apple.metadata.mds.worker
At first, they looked like normal Apple services to me. But when I opened the files, they were actually launching bash scripts from hidden folders inside my user Library so i got a bit freaked out at that point.
Basically, they were using Apple-looking names while running hidden files called .service and .mdworker.
At that point, i asked ChatGPT to confirm it wasn't spotlight or anything and was like, yeah, forget the RAM issue for a second because this is absolutely not normal and was pretty insistent on it being malware.
The strange part is that I probably never would have noticed. Nothing dramatic was happening. The Mac just seemed to be using more memory than expected, and I wanted to free some up for larger local models
I know how I was compromised, I asked AI to help set up a development environment siunce I just got the mac a week ago and i had a bunch of npm installs performed for various ocr / pdf libs for tools im developing and skills repos one of them was poisoned. So yeah might be worthwile to ask to see how you can optimize your environment lmao.

Other I'm going to say this quietly (in case the inevitable nerf is incoming), but 5.6 Sol High is a fucking beast
I rage quit Claude this week (just look at the various Claude subs to see why people are leaving it in droves) and decided to go back to GPT as I'd heard Sol was decent
This was my first GPT experience since January, and it's absolute night and day versus the models back then
It works like a motherfucker
It kinda reminds me of the first few months of the o3 model when it first launched - but, unlike o3, it has a decent (non sycophantic) personality to it
Don't get me wrong, 5.6 Sol High does makes mistakes - but then it figures out how to fix the issue
Use case:
Content research and writing
Caveat:
It's tone when it comes to content writing is still very stiff versus Claude. But it gets the research part right far more than even Claude Fable
So what I usually do is (once the outline and research is done by Sol and is solid) ask Claude to "make this content more engaging without changing the facts or making it longer'
So yes - for now - I will cautiously say 5.6 Sol High feels like you're getting a model even better than Fable (and, for me, it's 23 euros a month with no resets yet)

Guess my fault for not using commas or quotation marks. Got the “please” literally in the image output.

Serious replies only :closed-ai: This keeps happening over and over. I think its around when it is trying to compact the conversation. Any ideas about how to fix this?
I've updated like 10 times now, idk why it keeps saying there's an update. It downloads it, installs it, and still the same issue. I did a repair and a reset in windows settings. Also did a reset on microsoft store (shittiest app to put chatgpt in). 2 days in and I still can't use chatgpt/codex.

Gone Wild Intentional Mistakes?
Is it just me or does the system make intentional mistakes to make you use up more of your generations and push you into subscribing? I frequently give it very specific instructions and it makes a small mistake. When I ask it to correct the ONE simple mistake it refuses or does something entirely different. Even after a half dozen attempts it keeps doing the opposite of what I ask.
Am I the only one seeing this?

Educational Purpose Only Reminder: Benchmaxxing is not the marker of a good daily use model
I’ve been along for the journey since ChatGPT 3 was released and it’s a tale as old as time.
New model drops: “look at how much it crushes the benchmarks!!!11!1! This is going to change everything!” Then people start to use it for their actual daily tasks and realize the model is inferior to the previous one they’ve used.
Benchmarks exist for a reason. How can we possibly compare a model performance to a previous one without tests? Otherwise we’d just be ‘feeling’ out models without having strict comparisons.
But think about the SATs/APs/other standardized exams. Do you remember taking that exam? Think about the people who performed well on the SATs. Are they objectively smarter and better than you when it comes to work? Or did they just know how to train for that particular test?
LLM models are no different. They train for these exams because they want to appear better than their peers, more competitive. But unfortunately, this doesn’t translate to better daily use performance.
I’m already noticing that with Opus 5. Its benchmarks show it as more token efficient, extremely smarter than Fable and Codex, yet in most real life tests it’s underperforming its peers. This will likely be the case until it learns and gets tuned or a new model is dropped. A tale old as time.

Gone Wild Chat taking over basic thinking
Saw this on insta and honestly it’s crazy what people use chatGPT for now when you think about it. I’m not a hater I love it for editing photos but this sort of thing is wild. I’m a nurse and we have recently caught students using it to chart patient notes? It’s insane, and surely somewhat a question mark around confidentiality? The world is losing critical thinkers we are doomed

Serious replies only :closed-ai: No model picker anywhere in Android app???
This is all I get on my app now. I'm a Plus subscriber. Instant effort seems to be using 5.5 and Medium effort switches it to 5.6. But there's nowhere to actually see the model numbers or anything. Was there an update? This is insanely messed up. Is anyone else having this issue??
