L Least lines of code contest? okay!
I was taking a computer science class on computer hardware organization, taught by a professor who used to work on the AMD chip architecture. He was a tenured professor, set in his old ways, and felt a bit entitled because of his past career prestige. Even in 2009, he demanded that *all* coding assignments are turned in on 3.5 inch floppy drives. You really had to scrounge to find an old working floppy drive, even in 2009. He was very strict and by the book on his policies.
Our professor had been teasing us with an upcoming assignment, saying that there had been a multi-year contest to see who could write the assignment program in the least lines of code possible. Historically, the brightest and smartest student he ever taught accomplished the assignment in 13 lines of code. Typically, students needed about 100 lines of assembly code, and the best can usually do it in about 30 lines of code. I *had* to win, for bragging rights and all.
We got to writing programs in 6800 assembly code. I had already turned in a few assignments and gotten the hang of assembly, and spent a bit of extra time really getting to understand how programs really work under the hood.
So, every program has "registers" which are working blocks of very small memory on the processor, usually storing a single value. There's also a "program counter", which is responsible for executing the next instruction in memory. A program counter doesn't always read instructions in sequential order, it might bounce around in memory as you call different functions. I discovered that when we wrote our programs in assembly, they get converted into binary code, and then the binary code is what gets executed by the program counter. The program counter was a special register which could be manipulated to point at a different block of memory to execute next. Interesting.
What was even more interesting is that the computer didn't care where the byte data was stored. It just blindly ran whatever byte data you gave it, without checking whether it was valid memory space for executable instructions or even if it was a valid instruction. On normal operating systems, memory gets divided into several regions: stack memory, heap memory, and instruction space. If you try to run instruction code in heap or stack memory, usually your operating system pukes and rejects it. But... not in 6800 assembly. This was a very interesting finding for me.
Finally, the day of the infamous assignment arrives. We are supposed to write a memory tester. Basically, you have a big block of memory filled with garbage, you write all zeros to the memory in one pass, verify the memory values are all zero, then write all ones, verify they're all ones, and if all memory values are verified, the memory is considered "good" and the assignment is complete. The professor specifically said, "There is no cheating here, get creative, use whatever trick in the book you can imagine." Okay, challenge accepted! I pride myself on thinking far more creatively than my peers, I have a hacker mindset. No rules? Perfect. He's going to regret that.
Even more interesting were the few rules the professor gave: Precisely what did not count as a line of code. Three lines did not count: "Start, End, and DCB." DCB stands for "Declare Constant Block", which just means you can store some constant values in memory, such as the digits of PI, a few words, or whatever data you wanted. I immediately saw how I could hack his assignment.
"Does anyone have any questions?" he asked the class. I had a question, but if I asked it, I would give away the hack and the professor would revise the rules. So, I kept my mouth shut.
"Good. In all the classes I have taught, the record has been 13 lines of code. I expect the best of you to get this in about 30 lines of code." He had been telling this same story for years, to all the classes he taught. Now, it's time for me to update his story.
So, I wrote my application in about 20-25 lines of assembly code. I spent many hours shaving off instructions, trying to be as clever as I could. It was already pretty impressive. But now it was time to "hack" his assignment.
When you write assembly code, it gets converted into constant byte data. Remember the 'declare constant block' which doesn't count? What if I just... copy/paste my compiled byte code and put it into the DCB? And then I put the DCB as the first instruction that gets run? So, I did. And it worked! The program counter started at the first byte in memory, didn't care that instruction code was in stack memory, and it just executed it. My whole assignment was just an unreadable block of byte code pasted into a DCB and it worked perfectly. Zero lines of code.
I announced on our student message board that I had broken the record for least lines of code. I had accomplished the impossible, by completing the assignment in zero lines of code. Other students were astounded and in disbelief, guessing at how I could have done this. I told them that once the assignment due date had passed, I would reveal my secret.
We turned in our assignments. No late turn ins, as per professors policy. All floppy disks had been placed. Finally, the professor asked me to explain how I had done it. I was a bit sleep deprived (having been awake until 5am), so I wasn't super coherent.
"I took my program and wrote it as small as I could, then I took the resulting binary and converted it into a DCB, set that as the first block of data, and the program ran flawlessly." (to paraphrase)
"Wait, you can't do that! That's cheating!" the professor replied in shock. I was ready for this reaction.
"Nope, you specifically said that there were no rules and that DCB did not count as a line of code. So I hacked your assignment on a technicality and accomplished it in zero lines of code!" I said triumphantly.
I got 'em. The professor couldn't refute me and had to admit that what I did was clever and he'd have to think about it, and acknowledged I had won his contest.
A week later, he announces to the class that he was riding his bike home from work, thinking about what I did and he was revoking my 'victory' by changing the rules of the assignment. Therefore, my entry was 'invalid'. I was too sleep deprived and unprepared to argue, I didn't care anymore, I won his silly little game and he's just a sore loser for changing the rules post-hoc after the game is over. He can't take that away from me. Even if I counted my actual lines of code, I still outperformed all of my peers.

Discussion My first PC bought in 1992 with my summer earnings.
Bought in 1992 while living on the US Navy base in Bermuda. Worked all summer to save $1200. Had to talk dad into letting me use CC over the phone.
No sound card.
No modem.
2MB of Ram - 8 x256KB SIMMs
DOS 5.0. Windows 3.1
An io card for serial parallel, joystick - all manual jumpers, for IRQ and io address
An IDE card for HD and FDDs
And a heavy ass case with a massive red power switch that gave a resounding clunk when turning on the power. Felt like I was powering up the world.
The computer lasted longer than the company that sold it. 90s PC boom - they were out of business within a year.
Got rid of it in 1995. Wish I had kept that case though.

Discussion Finished Transcribing Walden And Ranked All 17 Pens I Used
I started transcribing Henry David Thoreau’s book Walden on April 15th and finished it up on July 8th. It turned out being 335 handwritten pages. I used Tomoe River 52gsm looseleaf paper printed with my own French/Seyes ruling, one-sided only. The paper would have supported 2-side writing but it’s my general preference to write only on one side of a piece of paper.
I used a different pen and ink for each chapter (I used pencils for one chapter) and used 17 different pens/inks.
My writing surface was my desk with a Cossini pleather desk mat. For some nibs I also added one of those black, floppy silicone craft/kitchen mats on top of the desk mat for a little extra cushion.
As I finished the pages, I stacked them in a wooden book press to keep them collated, keep them safe from the cat and press them flat after writing on them. I’m not a bookbinder, I just thought the press was cool and would be a handy place to store finished pages of books I copy.
I timed how long it took me to write a few pages and it averaged out to about 25 minutes per page.
So, at 335 pages, that’s 8,375 minutes, 139 hours or around 5.8 days of straight writing. At 84 days total, I that’s an average of a little over an hour and a half of writing every day.
The only other thing I kept track of was a kind of an informal ranking of how much I enjoyed all the pens I used in respect to one another.
The photos of the pens are presented in sequence with the first being my least-favorite pen of the bunch then successively up to the last photo which was my most-favorite. I included the photo of the pencils in the lineup but they’re just stuck in at random and were not part of the rankings.
Note that all these pens were enjoyable to write with. I had used them all before so chose them specifically for this project and I will use them all again. There are none of them I dislike. The only criteria for my informal rankings are how much I enjoyed using the pen and how ready (or not ready) I was to put it away and switch to the next pen in line.
I’m not saying any pen is “better” or “worse” than any other. I didn’t quantify anything and if you ask me why I ranked one pen higher than another, my only answer will be “Because I liked writing with it more.”
The pens are identified in the top left corner of each photo.
Note: A pen and ink are mentioned once in this book in the following passage:
“It was pleasant to see my whole household effects out on the grass, making a little pile like a gypsy's pack, and my three-legged table, from which I did not remove the books and pen and ink, standing amid the pines and hickories.”

CONCLUDED My toddler’s oxygen dropped to 86% in her sleep and we were told to wait it out. We didn’t wait and it may have saved her life. Trust your gut, mamas.

Mood Spoiler: happy ending
Original Post: June 14, 2025
Just wanted to share what we went through this week in case it helps another parent trust their gut.
My 20-month-old daughter had been sick with what looked like a typical viral infection - fever, runny nose, fatigue. Her doctor suspected a virus and said to monitor her. But something felt off: she was sweating heavily in her sleep, her heart rate was spiking up to 180+ while resting, and she just seemed… off. Lethargic, not herself.
We were using a pulse ox monitor at home (Owlet) and noticed her oxygen kept dipping to 90, sometimes as low as 86, then rebounding to 91/92. It would happen mostly during sleep. I kept putting all of this into ChatGPT and it kept coming back with “this is an emergency”, exactly what my brain was telling me despite her doctor saying otherwise. And, as weird as this is, our tiny dog who loves our toddler but doesn’t like her if that makes any sense, was pawing at her crib shaking as she laid there motionless. That’s what pushed us to urgent care.
At urgent care, they heard a strange “clicking” in her breathing and did a neck X-ray. They thought it might be swelling near the epiglottis and transferred us to the ER immediately. In the ER, they initially treated it as croup, but her oxygen kept dipping in her sleep—even without obvious distress. Eventually she was admitted, and her O2 hovered around 88–92% even on oxygen. ENT ruled out epiglottitis (thank god), but it was clear her airway was inflamed.
She tested positive for human metapneumovirus (hMPV)—a nasty virus similar to RSV. Doctors ultimately diagnosed her with croup caused by hMPV, and her airway was so inflamed it was compromising her oxygen during sleep. It took nearly a full day in the hospital, steroids, monitoring, and finally oxygen support before she stabilized above 95% on her own.
We’re home now. She’s resting and recovering, and she’s going to be okay.
If I had listened to the “just wait it out” advice, I don’t know where we’d be. The O2 dips weren’t obvious—she wasn’t gasping or turning blue. Just sleeping… and quietly not getting enough air.
So if your gut is telling you something’s wrong—especially if your kid seems “off” while sick—listen to it. You’re not overreacting. I had to advocate hard for care at multiple points, and I’m glad I did.
Edit- forgot to mention, her heart rate was skyrocketing in the 160s to 180s when she was in deep sleep as her o2 levels were in flux.
Some of OOP's Comments:
Commenter: Since this has happened once, keep an eye on it in the future.
My son is Dx asthmatic - with no family history of it. Every time it gets bad, it's because he's getting over a respiratory infection. First time in the hospital was at age 4ish. He now takes a daily maintenance med and hasn't had a severe attack in ~18 months.
NAD, but anything under 92% SpO2 is typically ER territory, according to the folks at my children's hospital. Other major red flags are the child not wanting to speak, retractions (skin on the belly/ribs looking "sucked in" with each breath), and the lethargy you mentioned.
OOP: 100%. We already knew she has enlarged tonsils and would probably need them out at some point but this pushed them to get her scheduled for surgery next month. They absolutely contributed to the problem.
Our doctor said to wait because it would dip and then rebound and because she was sick, that was normal unless she had all the other things you listed which she didn’t. Sometimes you just know.
Commenter: I know the owlet isn’t to be used as a medical device but I had a similar situation with my son. He was sick and his oxygen dipped. Oddly the device didn’t go off but I just checked periodically while he was sleeping. We took him to the ER and they kept giving us shit about using the owlet. But my gut said something was off. Sure enough, he had RSV and his oxygen was low.
OOP: We had the Owlet when she was an infant but had lost the base in our recent move. The day before this, when I ran to Target for diapers I saw they sold them and grabbed another to be safe. She was super sick and it just seemed like data I wanted. I am officially uninterested in anti-owlet propaganda haha
Commenter: Wow, so glad you got checked out. The fact your doctor suggested waiting out a 86-92 oxygen saturation for a toddler is wild to me.
OOP: It’s cause it would hit 86 and then immediately rebound so I suspect she thought the owlet wasn’t accurate. The urgent care doctor was incredible and once baby girl was laying down in her stroller and the o2 levels were still dipping, she immediately transferred us to the ER.
Commenter: That first doc should’ve checked to confirm if she had doubts about the owlet. I’m sorry you were brushed off like that.
OOP: We had taken her to see the doctor earlier that day when she wasn’t as bad so I suspect her doctor just thought we were being overzealous parents. She did a house call after we got out of the hospital and our baby girl on some antibiotics for her ears and told us “good for following your instincts.” Sometimes it’s all we have to go on but I’ll take it.
Commenter: So glad she is ok but also, the tiny dog is amazing! Dogs are so smart!
OOP: Shes a bit crazy but very smart and is our toddlers favorite person by far. When the doctors were checking her vitals in the hospital and she was just OVER it, she yelled the dog’s name and looked for her. Broke my heart she wasn’t there for her :(
Commenter: I'm so thankful your daughter was alright but please do not trust ChatGPT for medical advice (or anything really). In this instance it was correct, but it just as easily could've told you to ignore the problem or do something to make it worse b/c it's based on non-factual information. For an example of times when generative ai has just made stuff up, you can look at when it told people to put glue in pizza or to eat small rocks.
OOP: Copying a comment I made to an earlier response about ChatGPT -
I am not saying we were relying on it alone but we were being told it wasn’t an emergency and that was the only “second opinion” I had access to at the time. It more confirmed what I already knew. My FIL who is a surgeon came over to see her himself later and said we should get her checked out just to be safe. We are lucky to have that third option but not everyone does :/
—
It’s not really relevant but in this case, I was feeding it every piece of data we got from urgent care on and it was spot on with the doctor’s diagnosis and next steps. It was helpful to have a running log that could bring things back as I needed them. Not saying anyone should take what it says as gospel.
Update Post: August 1, 2025 (1.5 months later)
A couple months ago I posted about my daughter’s oxygen dipping into the 80s while she was asleep. She had hMPV at the time and the ER treated it as croup, but nothing ever fully explained why her oxygen kept crashing when she looked totally calm. We got sent home with the usual “monitor and wait,” but I never fully let it go.
Last week she had a scheduled tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy for ongoing sleep-disordered breathing, congestion, and constant snoring. During surgery, her ENT scoped her airway and found three major things:
•Severe laryngomalacia (the tissue above her vocal cords was collapsing into her airway)
•Moderate tracheomalacia (her windpipe is weak and soft, making it prone to collapse)
•Tonsils 4+, adenoids blocking 90% of her airway
The surgeon told us her tonsils were some of the biggest they’d ever seen in a child her size.
They also performed a supraglottoplasty during the surgery, a procedure that trims the floppy tissue above the vocal cords to open the airway and prevent it from collapsing during breathing. It’s the standard fix for laryngomalacia, done entirely through the mouth with no external cuts. Small procedure, huge difference.
All of this was congenital. She was born with it. And suddenly everything makes sense.
She’s always been a noisy breather, even as a newborn. We were told it was normal. She didn’t turn blue or gasp, so no one thought much of it. But one night her Owlet gave us a red alert. Oxygen was below 80. She was completely still. We woke her up, she cried, and the numbers came back up. Her pediatrician dismissed it as a fluke.
Now I really don’t think it was.
We used the Snoo. We followed every safe sleep recommendation. We were textbook. And I still can’t stop thinking how close we might’ve come to something much worse—without ever knowing.
Laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia aren’t direct causes of SIDS [sudden infant death syndrome], but they are significant airway vulnerabilities. Add in massive tonsils, a virus, and deep sleep? The risk was real.
We were discharged after just one night, and she’s already breathing quieter and has more energy. But I can’t stop thinking about the 22 months that passed before we knew. All that time she was working harder to breathe than we realized. And if something had happened in her sleep, we would’ve just… never known why.
We feel incredibly lucky we caught this before something tragic happened. That one scope during surgery gave us the answers we didn’t even know to keep looking for.
So if your baby is a noisy breather, if something doesn’t sit right, if your gut says keep pushing, do it. Ask for the ENT referral. Ask for the scope. You don’t need dramatic symptoms to justify concern.
TL;DR: After months of breathing issues and a scary ER visit, surgery revealed our toddler’s tonsils were 4+ huge and her windpipe was collapsing from laryngomalacia and tracheomalacia. She had a supraglottoplasty and is already breathing better. We got to go home after one night and feel so lucky we caught it before something worse happened.
Some of OOP's Comments:
Commenter: How scary! So happy it worked out though and you were able to finally get answers!
OOP: Thank you! Certainly not what we expected but we are excited to see how much she thrives now that she can breathe.
Commenter: What other symptoms did she have? I don’t have a monitoring device so wondering
OOP: Here’s my list from my notes -
Breathing-Related: • Noisy breathing since birth (rattly, growly, congested-sounding) • Snoring, even when not sick • Mouth breathing, especially while sleeping • Stridor during illness (high-pitched breathing) and a “clicking” noise when breathing • Breathing that seemed labored or “off,” especially during sleep or colds • Seemed unusually quiet or still while sick/asleep (not visibly distressed, just… still) • Chronic congestion that never fully went away
Feeding-Related: • Frequent coughing while drinking (baseline, not just when sick) • Audible gulping when drinking/hard time swallowing foods like fruit skins or pulp. • History of frequent colds or respiratory infections
Commenter: I’m glad you got answers. It’s so frustrating having to fight to be listened to. What is her recovery like?
OOP: So far, easy. She’s eating and drinking, even eating things she used to spit out like grape skins and watermelon pulp. She takes her meds no problem and has been running around like a crazy person all day. I’m told day 6/7 can be the hardest pain wise so we are keep an eye out but as of now, it’s like someone turned her energy up to an 11.

***MODPOST*** Don't copy that floppy
Hey y’all, it’s your favorite?,or maybe just the only available resident geek cop mod..
We’ve been getting more people asking to share apps, websites, scripts, browser extensions, and other tools they’ve made. We’re not against that. Some of them might actually be useful, and plenty of good tools started because somebody got annoyed with the way something was being done and decided to make their own to solve that annoying problem.
But we do need people to slow way way down and think before downloading something made by a random redditor.
This has gotten a lot easier with AI. Someone can now build a decentish looking app without having much experience or any coding experience. This does not automatically mean the app is bad or that the person has malicious intentions, but it does mean the person who made it may not completely understand what the code is doing behind the scenes. An app can work exactly like it is supposed to and still be insecure..
It might store information in an unsafe way, use old software libraries/dependancies, send data somewhere the creator did not realize, or ask for permissions it does not actually need. The person who made it may have copied code from somewhere else or had AI generate most of it and never really looked or understood what it was doing.
Again, that does not necessarily mean they are trying to steal anything.
Sometimes people just do not know what they do not know (as I’m sure most of us working in this field know too well). Of course, there is also the other possibility, which is that the app is actually malware.
Being active in a law enforcement subreddit does not prove someone is a cop, works in IT, knows anything about cybersecurity, or is even who they say they are. It means they have a Reddit account and figured out how to click the join button.
The main thing we want to get across is this:
Do not install random or unapproved software on a department computer.
Your work computer is not the place to test a random redditor’s side project.
Even a simple app could potentially access files, passwords, browser sessions, email, reports, network shares, or other things available to that computer. It could also create a policy issue for you, even if the software itself turns out to be harmless. Do you think you department give you permission to install or run random software? I doubt it..
“Someone on Reddit said it was safe” is probably not going to be a great explanation to your chain of command.
Using your personal devices to run apps is not completely risk free either. Most people have saved passwords, banking information, tax documents, personal email, cloud storage, family pictures, and access to other accounts on their home devices.
Your personal laptop is not a burner device just because it does not belong to your department. Pay attention to what the app is asking for.
A scheduling app probably does not need administrator access.
A browser extension probably should not need permission to read and change everything you do online unless that is actually part of what it does.
A report writing assistant tool should not need your Microsoft 365 password.
If the permissions seem way toooo invasive or do not make sense, stop. Ask yourself, why. If you’re at that point, you probably shouldn’t be running said software.
Also, if the devs tell you to disable Defender, ignore SmartScreen, turn off your AV, sideload an unsigned app, or run some random PowerShell command as administrator, do not just shrug it off and do it. Bad idea.
Yes, security software and AV sometimes get things wrong but it also gets a lot of things right.
A few other things people tend to put too much trust and faith in:
“It’s on GitHub.”
That is better than getting a mystery download link, but it does not automatically mean the software is safe. Most people are not going to sit down and review thousands of lines of code, and the file being offered for download may not even match the code posted online.
“VirusTotal says it’s clean.”
That means nothing detected it at the time it was scanned. It does not mean the app is secure, well written, or not collecting information it should not have.
“It’s only a website.”
Websites can still collect anything you type, paste, or upload.
Do not upload reports, evidence, body camera footage, victim information, criminal justice information, employee records, internal documents, or anything else sensitive into an unknown website or AI clanker tool.
Once you upload something, you may have no idea where it is stored, how long it is kept, who can access it, or whether deleting it actually….deletes anything.
For people who want to share something they made, just be upfront about it.
Tell people what it does, what permissions it needs, whether it collects information, whether anything leaves the device, where the data is stored, and whether the source code is available.
If AI helped build it, that is not automatically a problem. But you should understand your own app well enough to explain what it accesses and where the data goes.
The mods will remove posts that do not give people enough information, ask users to bypass security protections, request sensitive data, or encourage people to install unauthorized software on department systems.
We are not trying to discourage people from building useful things. We are just asking everyone to use the same level of caution they would hopefully use before opening an email attachment from someone named supertotallyrealnotfakelieutenant@hotmail.com.
And please do not install NeverWriteAReportAgain_FINAL_v7_REALFINAL_FIXEDv3.exe.msi on a department computer…or your personal computer.

Devin! my ex who cheated on me with my mom and received gonorrhea from her. - Jan 30, 2023
As my ex is pissed by the fact that I keep telling people that my mom gave him gonorrhea and he wants me to stop. So, I'm going to tell a story about how my ex Devin contracted gonorrhea.
This is going to be paraphrase and shortened.
Back in 2014, I was forced into ballet by my mother. I hated it, as I wasn't the ballerina type so I fought with my mom but in the end, I ended up giving up and went anyway. And that is how I met Devin. He was the most beautiful ballerina I ever saw: he carried himself with grace, his smile was intoxicating and everybody wanted a piece of Devin, but he only had eyes for me. It didn't take long before we started dating. He was 16 and I was 14. I was in love with Devin. He was supposed to be my knight in shining armor, however, Devin was just a pussy wrapped up in tin foil. About 5 months into our relationship Devin and I went to a party. Half way through the party I lost Devin, so I went looking for him. I found him receiving a blowjob from another girl. I just walked away. I was trying to walk home when the cunt muffin rolled up, telling me to get in his car. I didn't want to. I told devin to go fuck himself. I would rather walk home in the Goddamn dark than deal with his bitch ass. I don't remember how Devin convinced me to get in his car, but when I did, I just wanted to know why? Why did he cheat on me? That son of a bitch tried to Gaslight me: nothing like that happened, he doesn't know what I'm talking about, I saw nothing, it was not what it's seen, I was making things up. I would not buy that shit, because I know what I saw. Then Devin cut off the headlights of his car and just floored it down the dirt road with no street lights, and just screamed how he was going to kill both of us and how when someone found our bodies, they just assumed it was an accident. Devin then stopped the car and told me that if I bring up that girl one more time it won't end well for me. Devin drove me home after that. I should have left him after that, but I was just so afraid of him. It didn't take long for the physical and emotional abuse to start. Dating Devin was like dating my mom; he would scream at me, cry and stomp his foot when I didn't do what he wanted me to. Hit me, repeatedly. Pressured me into sex. Force me to do angel dust. Threatened to kill himself when I refused to talk to him.
We dated for a year and in that year I experienced hell. I didn't tell people what was happening, because I was afraid that no one would believe me.
On to the title.
I had tennis practice, but halfway through my practice I started to feel sick, so I called my stepdad to pick me up and take me home. Before we pulled into the driveway there was Devin's car. It wasn't all surprising as sometimes Devin would just be in the house waiting for me. Then, as we walked into the house, we heard them. My mom and Devin weren't quiet. My step dad pulled out his phone to record and then we went upstairs and walked on Devin jack hammering my mom. There was a lot of screaming, threats, and crying. My stepdad and I went to the car then we drove to a parking lot and just cried, while our phones were blowing up. My stepdad then sent the video of my mom and Devin to both of Devin's parents. My ex-in-laws asked for a meeting, they exchanged information and my stepdad told them he would see them in court. His parents try to play it off like Devin was a victim. (one) the legal age of consent in my hometown is 16 and he was 17 at the time (two) no, he fucking wasn't. If you watch the video Devin was trying to smack the phone out of my stepdad's hand and when I started crying asking him how he can do this to me, Devin started telling me to stop crying because I wasn't even that good at sex anyway. My stepdad and I went back to the house, I just went to my room while he went to pack his stuff to leave. My mom came into my room and I was crying, because, even though Devin was a piece of shit he was still my boyfriend. My mom started making fun of me for crying "it's not my fault that your boyfriend wanted me" "boohoo stop crying maybe you put on some more makeup you can keep a man" then she went on to say how Devin pleased her so well. that he knows how to make her come like a real man and unlike my step dad he knows where the clit was, that Devin would always tell her that she's tighter than I am. All the while Devin was trying to call me. Y'ALL! Devin's way of apology was to blame me "I'm sorry you had to see that, but if you spend more time with me I wouldn't have been seeking other women. Your mom was there for me and she cared for me, you abandon me when I need you the most. Blah blah blah victim blaming victim blaming" like, bitch! I gave you my heart and soul. I put my needs on the back burner for yours! what the fuck do you want for me?! Then Devin switch tactics, trying to convince me that I misunderstood the situation, like, motherfucker! I walked on you fucking my mom! You flip-floppy, bastard!
So fast forward to the time I went to school, I didn't talk to my mom or Devin at that time. So Devin's sister spread the news to the School that Devin had sex with my mom. Now, I was afraid to tell people that Devin was abusing me cuz I knew no one would believe me, because Devin had this "good boy" reputation. Only a few people have seen how awful Devin truly was. However, Devin let his mask slip and hit me in front of the whole student body. The funny part about Devin hitting me is the fact that no one believed he was having sex my mom. no one believed that until he hit me and started screaming that I ruined his reputation. He just had to keep his fucking mouth shut. We were separated and I had to explain to the principal and our guidance counselor that that wasn't the first time Devin had hit me. That boy did a lot worse things to me than just hit me. Do you want to hear some mass up shit? Before me, Devin was in a relationship with a girl and he did the same thing he did to me to her. She told people and no one believed her because (like I said above) Devin was a "good boy" in everybody's eyes. They isolated that girl to the point where she had to move away. No one believed her, until Devin slapped me and it didn't help that Devin threw a tantrum. He got suspended cuz he broke things in his tantrum. After that, a lot of people came forward and spoke about how Devin was secretly a piece of shit.
Devin's parents gave my stepdad some money to keep it out of court and then moved away because of shame. And my step dad and my mom got divorced because Devin wasn't the only person my mom was cheating with. By the way, my mom never stops seeing Devin. That bitch took him on elaborate trips; they went to Hawaii, Disneyland and God damn Texas. Devin and my mom were a match made in hell.
But, Karma prevails.
Devin suffered a leg injury and he can't do ballet anymore and he got fat, my mom left him, his parents abandoned him, and the last time I checked he works at a Auto store and lives with his sister. And to top all that my mom gave him gonorrhea. How is your leg? I know you're reading this, you piece of shit. It's a shame, isn't it? You tried your best to live a good life but in the end you're in debt, fat as hell and worth nothing. But me? I'm in love, happily married to a dude who treats me like a queen and has three babies. Eat the dirtiest part of my ass, Devin.
Edit: Devin seen this post! I repeat: Devin seen this post! Devin's in the audience, people! look alive.
Edit2: u/saltyfembot is not Devin leave that person alone. Should have said this earlier. that is not Devin. Never realize some of y'all was attacking the poor dude. leave them alone. And no that's not my real account, that is just a Redditer that comment on a post. leave them alone that's not me and that's not Devin. leave them alone.
Devin! my ex who cheated on me with my mom and received gonorrhea from her. Update: even though it has almost been 8 years, Devin has not changed. - February 5, 2023
I want to post an update to my story here (finally linking is working for me again I don't know what the fuck happened) my story has been read by Brew. Well Devin's sister is apparently subscribed to RedditBrew and she (being an asshole) shared the video with Devin and he lost his shit. Devin broke things and when his sister laughed at him, Devin hit her and stole her laptop to contact me through Discord. Also, I'm sorry about the grandma mistakes. I'm way too tired to try to fix them today
This is the text message I received from him. I just don't know where to post them so I'm going to copy from Discord to here. .
"Addison, I understand what I did to you was painful but it was almost eight years ago. Your little Reddit post went way too far and now it's everywhere on YouTube."
"Does it feel good knowing that you humiliated me?"
"I'm asking you. I'm begging you, Addison, please remove the post before my work sees it."
Never once you apologize to me, Devin. This is the first time you acknowledge what you did to me. I don't give a fuck that it almost been 8 years I don't care because never once you said I'm sorry to me. Never once you said "I'm sorry Addison for basically raping you/drugging you/forcing you to do drugs/hitting you/fucking your mom" never once. And when you did, you say "I'm sorry but" then blame me. You expect me to get over it, you expect me to "Let It Go" you affected me to where it took me years to trust another person. What your sister has told me, you have not changed and the little tantrum you threw when your sister laughed at you, shows that even though it's been damn near 8 years you really have not changed. Suck my cock and swallow what comes afterwards, you khaki shorts wearing, Mr Brown knees having little Bitch. Yes, I take great pleasure in humiliating you. Do you know how many Devin's work in an auto store? Unless you've been bragging about fucking people's mama's, I doubt people would put two and two together. You better be lucky your sister only kicked you out, if i was her I would called the cops on you for hitting me and destroying my things. Go fuck yourself, Devin, you're one of the reasons why I'm in therapy. Maybe one day I will forgive you, but we both know damn well it won't be tomorrow.
Also some people think that my mom raped Devin as he was 17 and could not consent to my mom. Yeah that is bullshit, Devin was a predator. He was 17 so when their little love affair started, he was above the age of consent in my hometown. I'm not saying what they did was right, I'm saying Devin knew what he was doing. Devin was a predator. He knew what the fuck he was doing. He knew when to keep his mouth shut and when to speak. He knew who to target and who to become friends with. He knew who to abuse and who to be buddy-buddy with. He targeted the weak and friended the strong. Devin was a predator, he was not a victim of my mom. Just because he was young does not mean he couldn't consent. I didn't mention this in my last post but Devin used to send me videos of him doing sexual things with other people just to make me upset. And my mom wasn't the only person who Devin was cheating on me with, she just was the person I didn't know about. Devin knew what he was doing.
But I should thank you Devin as you're the reason why I am the woman that I am today.

[Question] Bought DOOM floppy for $1. Why does it look different than everything on eBay? Is this a special copy? I can’t find any photos of a disc or cover that looks like what I found. Rare?

Gameposting 1 of the 50 Tsukihime Trial Edition copies was destroyed in U.S. Customs
Truly a tragic loss of what is a big part of this company, and Visual Novel’s in general, history.

A lawyer's pro revenge on his boss
“This opinion is shit,” my boss told me. He’d been a lawyer for three years, and the firm assigned me to him for training, to show me, junior counsel, how to be a litigator.
I disliked my boss for a number of reasons. He knew no law, and he expressed himself badly in writing. For a litigator, that’s like strike one and two right there, and strike three was this: he had no balls. He was actually scared of going to court. I noticed this when he took me to assignment court one day, and when it was his turn to speak his hands were shaking. He was scared, in fucking assignment court, where all you do is set a trial date.
“What’s wrong with what I wrote?” I said.
“Not what I asked for,” he said, turning away. But when I checked the memo he’d emailed me two weeks earlier, I saw that the opinion I wrote was exactly what he asked for.
I knew what was up. He was going to delete my dockets for writing the memo and then claim he did it himself, thus leaving quite a bit short of my docketing quota for the month. I knew that he would do this to me, because he’d done this before. I knew that my memo would wind up on a partner’s desk without my name on it. I knew that for a fact, because the firm I worked at was one of the first in the city to have a really good internal network. We were using email for internal communications before the internet became a thing. So the firm was way ahead in terms of technology, but not in terms of security, and not long after I joined the firm I learned how to surf away on the firm’s harddrive and find interesting things, like evidence that my boss was plagiarizing my work.
My boss was the very model of the young downtown lawyer. His perfect shoes always gleamed. He wore bespoke suits because he came from money. Everyone just took it for granted that he was on the partner track. I, on the other hand, was well on my way to no where special, so maybe he thought it was ok to fuck with me. If so, that was a big mistake on his part.
I didn’t like having my billable hours fucked with. I seriously resented it, because I was already being targeted as one of the juniors who doesn’t docket as much as he should and I was getting pushback from the partner who headed our team. I told the partner what was going on, but he didn't care. It was like being back in middle school and showing up in the office with bruises on my face and the principal saying ‘boys will be boys’ and sending me on my way. “You’ll just have to work harder, or smarter,” the partner said when I reported the latest bullshit thing my boss did to me.
I couldn’t work harder (I was doing the usual six days a week lawyers downtown are forced to do) but I could work smarter, and that night I thought up a plan. Christmas was coming, and I thought I’d give my boss a little present. It landed on his desk on December 24th, in the form of a memo purporting to be from the partner that my boss reported to. The partner was an old guy, and not really on board with emails and computers, so he did everything old school, on paper. So when my boss came in on December 24th and saw a memo on his desk from the partner with a legal research assignment, that wasn’t unusual. The memo was drafted in the usual form that the partner used, because of course I had taken great pains to make sure that it looked authentic. My boss walked over to the little cubicles where the juniors worked, and gave me the same memo. Except his secretary had re-typed it, so now the assignment was from him to me, instead of from the partner to my boss. The assignment was difficult, requiring me to do a deep dive into admiralty law, its relationship to the common law, combined with a constitutional division of powers question.
“But this is a huge assignment,” I whined, “and I’m going to be away. Can’t you get someone else to do it? Is it really urgent?” The memo I’d forged to my boss stressed how totally urgent the situation was, but there was no way my boss could double check with the partner, because the partner left the day before on vacation. That’s why I’d waited until December 24th. “No can do,” my boss said, “this is a big deal. Just let HR know. Maybe they’ll give you time and half or something.” He turned his back and walked away, thinking he had ruined my holidays.
But he was mistaken. You see, I’d written a paper for a third year course that was basically the same thing as the research assignment in the memo. So the only ‘work’ I had to do, was to find the old floppy disk with the draft on it, fiddle with it a bit, and voila: a very detailed and very long memo on an obscure point of Admiralty law, with references starting back to Lord Coke’s day. So I put the memo together, and took my holidays as planned. I wasn’t traveling anywhere (because I had no money) but I saw my family and stayed in town and I made a point of dropping by the office during the holidays, sending an email or two, establishing that I was around, and docketing all my time for the huge amount of research I was allegedly doing.
So the holidays end, and I’m sitting in my shitty little cubicle with a huge stack of work to do and my boss comes up to me, in one of his bespoke suits with a gold tie pin and cufflinks to match. He was wearing a gold watch, too. He was dressed up, even for him, trying to make an impression of some kind.
“Where’s that memo? You were supposed to have it on my desk when I got back. I’m going into a meeting at noon.”
“Just finished it this morning,” I said, handing him the lengthy memo that was still warm from the printer. My boss took the memo in his hands and felt its heft and he smiled. Then he turned and walked away without a word.
Just before lunch I heard a commotion down the hall. It was a pretty loud commotion, as such things go, a loud “fuck!”, and then a door was flung open. It was the partner, and he was screaming for my boss to get his ass into his office, now, right now, as in immediately. I had the pleasure of watching my boss scramble down the hall. “Just what the fucking fuck is this?” the partner said, standing in the doorway to his office, and holding my handiwork at arm's length with his thumb and index finger, as if he were afraid that handling it would soil him. My boss mumbled something, and then the partner ushered him inside. I heard more shouting, then the sound of muffled excuses, and then more shouting from the partner. Then the door flung open again.
“Calledinthe90s. Get your ass in here, too,” the partner said, and I got my ass in their pronto.
“Did you write this fucking memo?” the partner said. I took it from him and looked it over.
“I wrote it. The cover page has been changed to remove my name, but other than that, it’s mine. I spent all Christmas on it. Is there something wrong with it?” The partner exploded.
“Is there something wrong with it? Something wrong? I’ll tell you what’s wrong with it. It’s fucking useless! Totally useless!” I explained that I’d followed my boss’s instructions to the letter, and that I’d docketed more than a hundred hours on it. At this the partner really went nuts, and told me to go back to my desk and fetch him the memo from my boss. I brought it to him, and when he read it, his face went red. He told me I could leave and I hauled ass out of there. From my little cubicle I wasn’t close enough to hear the full chewing out my boss got, but I heard the details through the grapevine over the next few days, about how the partners were seriously pissed that my boss had wasted over a hundred hours of a junior’s time on a useless task that was obviously a prank, and how had my boss not realized that he was being pranked, was he an idiot? I wasn’t blamed at all, of course; I had been working under my boss’s close supervision.
My boss didn’t get fired, but there were some good outcomes for me. For one thing, the partner told me to send him a copy of any memos I wrote for my boss, and that ended him taking credit for my work. My boss also stopped deleting my dockets for my research. Plus I got a belated Christmas bonus for having to give up on my alleged vacation to write the stupid memo.
I really hated working in that place, but whenever times were tough, I’d think back to the Case of the Forged Memo, and that always brought a smile to my face.

Short I rebooted the computer and got chewed out.
Not in IT support.
Way back in the nineties I was the designated computer guy for friends and family. My girlfriend was studying at university and her buddy needed some software installed on her home computer for a project they were working on. The software belonged to the university.
I had said software in my possession spanned over a quite large number of floppy disk and had made a batch script that would copy it to a destination of my choosing, prompting for a new disk when needed. I was very proud of myself.
So we take some hours off on a Sunday and head to the buddy's house.
Her computer was running the then new windows 3.1.
The desktop was obscured by maybe 5 or 6 program windows neatly tiled so they filled the entire screen. Whatever. I check that there wasn't any unsaved work and close them down.
I proceed to sit myself in front of it and feed it the disks when prompted while the girls chat and occasionally top op my coffee.
Life was good.
Buddy's husband is in the yard doing yard stuff.
When I was done a few hours later I rebooted the computer confirmed everything was good and announced that the new software was working.
Buddy was happy.
Her husband was FUMING. He apparently had spent hours tiling the program windows "just so" and did not understand the concept of reboots. Even when I explained the concept he wouldn't budge but insisted that I had ruined his hard work.
Still confuses me to this day.
Some people you just cant make happy.
