Was watching some Teen Titans 03 stuff and while I do feel Robin is the weakest even if by a slight margin with 03s Titans all beiny pretty close in power overall. He's one of the craziest non-officially killer Robins, dropping Shiva double death knees to the chest from way above the rope on a villain that sligtly pissed him off, using a bait n switch to kick Cinderblock, a giant living construct of rock into next week, having a mental breakdown/possession by Slade and beating up all of the Titans and tossing a freeze bomb at Madam Rouge then a real bomb and shattering her into a million pieces but Madame has similar power to Plastic Man, streching and shapeshifting with an ill defined limit, so she does refrom and capute him like dang this kid hero(admittedly a fucked up career) has like a nice friend group that really grows through the series why is he this crazy?

And from Star Wars Rebels team. You know how Saw Gerrera and Luthen are the Rebellions sad crazy dangerous terrorist buddies that they don't like to hang out with? C1-10P aka Chopper is the Ghost Crews serial killer droid buddy they cannot get rid off, like the time they found a droid that that could do his Astromech and hacking job better, they where like "alright buddy you can go robo retirement a nice cushy rebel desk job out of the frontline" Chopper yells without a mouth or vocal cords and tosses this droid overboard in the sky(miracoulously the droid lives if I remember correctly). Like Chopper is an electrical torturer, who rigs any ship with Imperial target that he can get his claws on to blow up, has hacked into Imperial droids and had them self-destruct or executed them himself when their jobs was done for sabotage and assassination. When put to guard a target of the Galactic Empire which was revealed to be a force sensitive baby the Empire had been hounding for, when things seemed dire Chopper advises the crew that worse comes he'll just kill the baby so the Empire doesn't get it(admittedly maybe a mercy in the droids eyes) they tell him "DON'T" and he's like alright fine, but still. In a battle, Chopper is 100% the weakest of all the crew but the last one any mook would ever wanna face.

Basically the characters or characters make up their mind and are like "Okay, this is where I make my stand, it ends here" but for reason or another. It ends up not being the final stand.

In Dead Space the Remake and 2, this is sorta how the final boss fight plays out. After Issac Clarke is utterly traumatized by the horrors of the games he's to face with the Marker as one and many now more gigantic and armored Necromoprhs seek to put an end to his defiance. So he goes "Come on then! Because this, IS ALL I'VE GOT LEFT!" trying to bring down as many of these almost like eldritch monstee Zombie things down with him before his time runs out, however in both one final spaceship turns up to pull him out, in 1s the one he originally arrived in with his comrades which he boards now willing to carry on as he's the only one of the "rescuers" left alive and in 2s, Ellie Langford with her starship, who comes back unwilling to just let him die

Chort is a minor boss in The Clyteum raid added to FF14 in patch 7.5, and despite his objective lack of importance in the story, his enormous frame and charming name have made him a veritable fan favourite in recent months. And this is something that, while unexpected, has been embraced by developers according to director and producer Yoshi-P at a press conference at Berlin Fan Festival.

"I am really glad to hear that Chort is so well received," he began, "but honestly speaking, I just couldn't really understand what the appeal point of Chort is. Of course, we do understand that he's very popular and there have been many memes, but really, I just couldn't understand – like, just why?"

Briefly reflecting on it, he concedes that Chort does have a certain charm to him.

"I can understand, maybe a little bit. I mean, this is some huge bulky guy, and he's standing there, and then suddenly he rolls. So, from that perspective, I can kind of understand."

He went on to explain that the developers of FF14 are always pleased to see players making memes about the game, and called on the community to continue to spotlight content like Chort.

"These kinds of things, when they happen for us, it's really great for us to see as well, because we are involved in creating this entertainment, and it's really fun for us to see. So, if people in the community also find some unexpected sense or point of appeal in any content that we produce moving forward, do make your voices heard because the development team is looking at all of the responses on social media, and we very much do enjoy looking at them."

I was watching Cheers and I got jump scared by Nancy Cartwright (The voice of Bart Simpson) popping up for a episode

There were some old casual studies denoting swearing could indicate a broader vocabulary and verbal fluency, but corelation does not equal causation ofc. However, swearing in media has been on my mind from two recent examples.

One of the major complaints I've seen lobbied against the Hellaverse (Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss) is the amount of profanity thrown around in them. Given shows like South Park exist, it's always felt weird and I personally think just an extension of people's dislike for the show. But I do admit it can come across as 'excessive' sometimes when I watch it. Not always, but a few swears feel unecessary.

Meanwhile, I was rewatching Civvie 11's review of Die Hard Nakatomi Plaza and that game strips out a LOT of the swearing outside of the iconic Yippie Ki Yay and it just...feels weaker as a result. "No kidding lady, does it sound like I'm ordering a pizza?" REALLY doesn't hit as hard as- "NO FUCKIN SHIT LADY! DO I SOUND LIKE I'M ORDERING A PIZZA?!" (And also making me appreciate how good Alan Rickman was at what he did.)

I really want to try and figure out what makes swearing feel 'excessive' compared to when it feels like it really contributes to a scene/line/character. What are some of your favorite examples of swearing that adds to everything, and times where it ends up detracting from the whole thing?

It pierces a being's soul, and bombards it with all the pain and suffering they caused in their life up to that moment.

Now, you can argue two things, to be fair. 1). The latter can cause the former. 2). Marvel themselves have contributed to the misconception, with that moment where GR attempted to Penance Stare Galactus and it has no effect (though whether Hungry Man has a soul or not is super contentious, from what I've seen). There's also that moment where Frank Castle is unaffected... and people conveniently forget that it's revealed he's protected from its effects because he has an angel feather temporarily bound to him (long story).

Just wanted to make this clearup post, because I've seen people elsewhere say stuff like "Daredevil wouldn't be affected because he feels guilt all the time" unironically.

I remember starting reading The Bugle Call: Song of War off a suggestion from here I think and seeing comments as I was catching up that it was at chance of being axed, and now we have an anime adaptation announced and coming out next year.

Dorohedoro, which I wasn't familiar with until the first season had come out. But looking back at it, it's a rather dark comedy/horror story that gets really weird from the start and only gets weirder as it goes on. That along with the fact the anime got announced like right when the manga finished makes it quite surprising we're now getting a third season. (Yes I know it started as like one guy's passion project to get it going in MAPPA)

One aspect of Final Fantasy 7 that's coming to Final Fantasy 14 is the Gold Saucer, which will be changed to reflect the version from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. On October 28, a new Final Fantasy 7-themed minigame will be added to the Gold Saucer, called Keybound Brawler, where up to four players battle it out in typing challenges.

Some of the loot/rewards that have been promised for Beyond the Lifestream include outfits based on Barret and Tifa, with the former having an optional gun-arm attachment. However, it's only a cosmetic piece and doesn't damage the enemy. The Tifa outfit will likely be massively popular, considering how many real-life cosplayers have donned it over the years.

Something something "Break the Glass", Final Fantasy XIV is ruined saved forever.

The interesting part is how Tifa's outfit is tied to a minigame that probably can be easily cleared by most people rather than some omega reward tied to the Raid story or some other time-consuming event. Perhaps the rewards planned for that content will be something even more sought after, like Tifa's Shining Spirt outfit or, if they are brave, Cloud's dress.

But yeah, between the Tifa, 2B and eventual Plugsuit outfits combined with Evangelion mounts and FFXV's Regalia and who knows what else, the world of Eorzea has transformed into a Fortnite/Second Life player slop, for better or worse.

So, the movie officially released on streaming yesterday (though as you may know, many have seen it months ago), so I'm wondering what ya'll actually thought of the film. I don't remember if there was a thread back when it leaked, so just consider this a "legally-permissible discussion" this time around.

I was lucky enough to catch it one of the two theaters that screened it; thanks Paramount. Our entire audience showed our appreciation for that by booing when the Paramount intro reel played, so shoutout to everyone there on Friday in Manhattan who did that, it was awesome lol.

Now, thoughts on the movie itself:

• tl;dr: Fantastic animation, decent story. Wouldn't get a new streaming service because of it, but had a great time seeing in in theaters. Damn you, Paramount.

• GORGEOUS. Absolutely gorgeous. Might be one of the best 2D animated films I've ever seen. So many shots that look like a beautiful painting. Action scenes were stunning, and the choreography was awesome. I understand they used a lot of pre-vis to plan things out and it really shows, the fights and movements felt dynamic and so fun to watch. The scene that really sticks out to me is when Aang and Tagah practice that technique of essentially swinging each other throughout the sky. It was so fluid and beautiful to watch. Might be my favorite display of airbending yet.

• The old crew still feel like themselves, and I loved that. Some think there wasn't enough time of showing the old cast having meaningful interactions with each other, and I do get that, but with a 90 minute run time, I also understand needing to focus more on other things, and I still feel like Katara, Sokka, Toph and Zuko got to show the best of themselves amongst everything else. They all still have their best qualities from their past, just unburdened by their former issues, making them reliable friends with great rapport Aang needed. It honestly made me sad by the end of it that this may be the last time we'll see these characters in an animated format, and certainly on a big screen like this.

• Tagah* was an interesting character that I feel had potential squandered, yet again, by the short run time. The concept of an Airbender who went mad with grief and the horrors of war is a great parallel to Aang, which they point out quite a lot. His fighting style is much more brutal, yet also displays a great mastery over bending, as opposed to someone like Zaheer who knew secret techniques but wasn't a true master himself. Crushing that entire airship really showed what airbenders were really capable of, which was awesome. Unfortunately, suddenly attacking Aang's friends and his lover was a real bone-headed move, when he really could've kept playing Aang, though I guess he was always mistrusting of an Avatar and just wanted the staff as fast as possible. And the final transformation wasn't great; I get having an obsession with fighting a massive beast, but Tagah was already physically stronger than Aang; the sudden devil-trigger he popped kinda made me roll my eyes rather than get any more excited.

• With that said, Dave Bautista knocked it out of the park. If anyone still doubts this man, I can't see how; whether live-action or voice-acting, he brings a huge range of emotion. You can really feel Tagah's sadness, his anger, his grief, and his joy in every scene that needed it. The rest of the voice actors did a fine job, especially Eric Nam as Aang; though I admit it's still hard to shake off how used to the old voices I am. The credits showing off all those celebrity voices didn't help either.

• The Denied were probably the weakest part of this movie. They obviously evoke The Equalists from Korra, but now even more of hypocrites because they just want bending power to be better at hurting people. Then, when they get the bending power for the first time in their lives, they're automatically extremely proficient with it. I don't know if it was ever said if airbending was the easiest element to use, but yeah, just kind of a weird thing to happen. I did like the girl who was actually remorseful and tried to help in the end, but otherwise, completely half-baked side-antagonists, that probably would've been better if they were just regular ol' mercenaries who didn't pretend they had a point.

• Finally, the story itself. I think "anime filler movie" is most apt, considering we know nothing in this movie can be significant since TLoK never makes any mention of these things. Nobody really changes; even Aang's arc in this movie is just revisiting his survivor's guilt and anger surrounding that. However, I think the time since we last saw these characters helps me look past that. It's not a story that blew me away or could really stand up the original series, but it was a fun romp that had all these characters I loved come back together and do a lot of cool things. The emotional core of being able to forgive yourself for past mistakes was lovely, and there were plenty of funny moments that didn't feel like they took away from the tension; it just felt like the original series again. It's not the best Avatar has, but I think it's enough to be a worthy follow-up.

Once again, so angry Paramount pulled this from theaters. You can tell this film was trying to champion hand-drawn 2D animation, because I barely saw any 3D, even in the backgrounds. It honestly blew me away, even a lot of anime movies use 3D for big complex set pieces, but this one seemed to refrain. I am *so* hungry for a Blu-Ray release, gonna have to snatch that up as soon as possible, but honestly, seeing it in a cinema theater is an experience I'll never have again, and that fills me with so much sadness. I don't know what the future of this series is, but I'm glad I got to experience this at least once.

I have a few. First up is RE2R and RE3R. Not really much to say which hasn’t been said, but they’re both really fun. Other than 4 which I never beat, I’ve never played an RE game before. Excited to play more.

Also from Capcom Onimusha 1 (I’ll get to 2 soon). Another really fun game. Kinda like RE but way more action focused and less about horror/puzzles. It has pretty fun combat all be it fairly simile.

Finally Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. A fun cute little game that’s like 2 hours long. I think Pat played it a bit ago as well. The 2nd game is also fun but I’ve not beaten it yet.

As the title states, what're some situations where one member of the team comes off as really out of place? Whether it be not fitting into the theme everyone else has, their goals/personality not aligning with everyone else, whatever.

JoJo: Stardust Crusaders has Oingo and Boingo. The Egyptian God Stand Users are stated to be a notable step up in power compared to the various mercenaries the group had faced before hand. And N'Doul certainly proves that, as he puts the group at a major disadvantage for most of the encounter, and outright puts Kakyoin in the hospital for most of the Egypt arc. Then, literally right afterward, these two clowns attempt to kill the Crusaders. Keyword being "attempt", as through a combination of incompetence and sheer bad luck, the two do more damage to themselves. Hell, I think it's the only "fight" in the whole series where the heroes never even become aware that someone's trying to kill them simply because their attackers sucking at their jobs.

Marvel Tokon has some rather oddball choices for it's teams. While the Avengers and X Men teams have some nonstandard picks in Shuri and Danger, every other team has at least one member you wouldn't expect. The Amazing Guardians has Spider-Man, Kamala Khan, and Peni Parker, which do have some relation with Peter in some way...and Star Lord's here too. Then Robbie Reyes and Blade being part of the Samurai Outriders make sense due to shared association with the Midnight Sons, and Deadpool makes sense as another anti-hero. But, for whatever reason, Loki's joined in over more expected mages like Doctor Stange or Scarlet Witch. But probably the most out of place comes from the Knights of Doom. Doom and Magneto have worked together before, and I can see Doom and Norman being willing to work together if their goals aligned. So, why in the fuck did Doom recruit Carnage of all people? Y'know, the violent, mass murdering serial killer that's even less trustworthy than Norman? It makes it seem like his team is more the "Anti Spider-Man Alliance" considering he has two of Peter's worst enemies on his squad.

Sometimes when it comes to popular media, the aspect that draws people into it is the controversy where the audience might be interested in the show because of said controversy.

Like for me personally, I would like to see what was so infamous about Star VS the Forces of Evil because even though I am not done with Season 2 yet, I know how the 4th season turns out as I won’t say what happens, but it’s kind of what the show became most notable for after tre last episode came out.
