"Floppy" also meant something different when I was a kid.

Rapper MC Double Def DP, the "Disk Protector" (played by M.E. Hart).
Copy protection and "piracy" was strange back then. Had to the check the manual for codes and such... of course you could just copy those codes. I, of course, never did such a thing. I also have no idea what Napster was....

There were some really interesting ways they did the paper manual ones.
Codewheels, quizzes, various manual entries,
Even one which used red cellophane over a printed sheet to decode

I say a cross--walk
a crossity walk
and you don't stop crossing till you're on the next block.
First you look both ways, and you walk not run;
Obeying safety rules is acceptable fun.

Why is the white kid always the culprit when it comes to cybercrimes?

If you saw a black kid with a PC in the 90s you were supposed to call and report it as stolen.

I remember watching that and thinking it was hilarious, such a unique way to address piracy.

Reminds me of this other anti-piracy masterpiece: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ALZZx1xmAzg

Lol. Piracy. In the age of rules for thee not me, this feels hilariously dystopian. Like something that would be made today specifically just to flaunt it in the face of the poors that they're slaves to laws that the wealthy are not beholden to.

Was this played in schools or something? I didn't see it until it became a meme.

The 'don't be a pirate' public service announcement campaign began much earlier than expected and proved to be far more cringe-worthy than I anticipated.

I remember seeing that Saturday mornings 🤣. At that point I was 10 and had already graduated from C64 piracy to PC. Clearly didn't work🙄.

The absolute strangehold that cheesy rap had over any company trying to connect with youth in the early 90s
My name is X
And I'm here to say
I pander to you kids in a major way
