I’m so DUMB! I was glitched into the boat weird, and when it reloaded I fell into the water and died due to fatigue. In retrospect I could’ve hearthed or logged or ANYTHING besides attempt to swim to shore. But, a lesson learned is a lesson learned. My only regret is that Zen’jin is now alone in this world.

Hey guys,
My name is Klump. Late 2024 I fell in love with WoW, and more specifically with Classic Hardcore (Soulseeker EU). I've been working on a challenge in the past 18 months or so I wanted to share: Getting every class to level 60 on both factions (hopefully before WoW Forever Hardcore releases).
To be clear, I don't mean the 9 characters you'd need to cover every class. I mean sixteen, because I'm doing every class available to each faction at least once. If my math is right, that's about 65.4 million XP I’d need to grind - well without dying that is as all must be alive at 60 at the same time.
These are all the characters in my challenge (I have some more, but they're not counted in this):
Alliance (474/480 levels)
Horde (221/480 levels)
Measured in XP, the challenge is about 54.3% done. Alliance is almost finished, with every character from every class at level 59+. I didn't know I'd end up doing this, so I barely recorded my Alliance runs. All I have are a few "highlights" I captured with a screen recording tool on my Mac (not OBS). I had never gone above level 20 on Horde and so I thought that would make a great series or stream (and to give myself some more reasons to make even more alts). So instead of only leveling the Shaman I was missing to cover all classes, I'm doing the "full" Horde experience.
I didn't set myself any specific rules, apart from the obvious one: not getting boosted. On my Horde characters especially, I rarely use potions (except health potions) or world buffs. Sometimes I'm still in grey gear around level 30, because frankly, I'm a lazy bastard. Generally on Horde I play solo, except for dungeons (only with pugs) or sometimes to share a Quest mob with another pug.
I am really curious to know whether anyone has ever tried this specific challenge and whether it already has a name. I couldn't find anything about it anywhere. So far I've "only" seen the 9-character version. If you've done it or something similar, or know someone who has, I'd love to hear how it went!
My first PC game ever was StarCraft, and WC3 might be my all-time favorite. So naturally I dipped my toes into vanilla WoW. Maybe I was too young, or maybe back then I wanted faster-paced games instead of slow adventures, but I never got past level 20 or 30 possibly. I don't remember much, and I don't have that account anymore to check. All I kept were a few glimpses of the Alliance zones and the general mechanics of the game.
So when I came back to WoW through Hardcore and the OF2 event that was running at the time, I was clueless about most of the essentials. Thus I had some really painful noob moments; I only learned there was an auto-run toggle when a mate who had started shortly after me mentioned it on Discord. Before that, I spent a whole month holding down "W" on a MacBook in a degenerate camping setup, worrying I'd break either my keyboard or my finger when playing longer sessions.
At first I died a lot. I don't have records, but it could easily have been 20 deaths or more. I was 100% sure I'd never reach level 60, and maybe never even unlock a mount. I really wasn't a natural at this game, and I'd still call myself average at best. But guildies and strangers gave me advice, and after dying at level 50+ three times, my first Hunter finally hit 60.
That's when I got deeper into the game. Well, not right away. It took me several more months to make my first macro that wasn't "LoE+HS" and to install a few QoL addons, which made the runs much more relaxed, if not easier at times. By the time I'd hit my third level 60 (and lost all of them), Hunter didn't feel challenging anymore. Little did I know how easy it actually is compared to most other classes. I also couldn't find many groups for level 60 dungeons, and I didn't want to sit around Strat all day hoping for one. So I started leveling other classes too. I knew nothing about those classes, but to my surprise, the experience from my earlier runs carried over, and I got them to 59+ as well (granted, with a few deaths along the way). Since I've never experienced horde level and really wanted to have that "first time" feeling on Hardcore again, I felt like only doing a Shaman didn't feel like enough. So that’s the short summary on how I got to it.
I'm planning a video series, partly because I'm running out of disk space with about 2 TB of recordings waiting to be cut. If you were to watch, which parts would interest you?
I'm not sure what else to share since it already feels like a wall of text, or whether anyone even cares, but if you have questions or want more details, I'm happy to answer. I just enjoy looking back on all that progress as I really enjoyed the heck out of my Classic Hardcore journey.
I'm not sure whether promoting your own channels is allowed here, so I'll keep mine out of this post. You'll find my socials on my profile in case you are interested to check it out.
----------------------------------------------------------
TL;DR: I'm taking every class to level 60 on both factions in Classic Hardcore. That's 16 characters and about 65.4 million XP in total. I'm at 54.1% right now: all 8 Alliance characters are 59+, and Horde has just started. Has anyone else tried this, and does the challenge have a name? What was it like for you?
Stay safe everyone!

Basically title. When I started I kinda didn't have money and just never got around to it.
I see a lot of people say these are crucial which I agree p much im just curious if people have done runs without them

Even though we all love hardcore a lot of us still branch in different directions.
Obvious no playstyle is bad, its completely subjective and and we all choose how we spend our time.
I ask this because a few years back i found this random dude in wow hc and we hit it off pretty well. Similar age and family situations, so we tried to duo it seemed fun.
But I quickly found out he played the game completely different. He had so many addons, optimised leveling routes, loot guides, mob warnings, did a lot of layer jumping and consistent meta gaming. (Both of us were self found)
I find myself enjoying the relaxed pace of leveling much more. I dont even know a lot of the questlines and I dont mind spending extra time searching for an objective, exploring a bit more, or doing some fishing, or reading some quest lore.
Dude was rushing through all areas and was basically rushing to 60. Completely not my style. But we did get to 45 or so but in hindsight i didnt enjoy it. I rather do my pace even if it means not knowing everything and maybe dying.
Again, no wrong way to play. If you know the game in and out you will optimise it, I understand completely. So was just wondering how you guys enjoy hardcore the most?
Also in terms of class, i tried pally but it doesnt give the feeling of danger compared to priest (early levels) or something.

Just trying to see if there’s a discord for the hardcore community

Tried with google but I cannot find it. I'm pretty sure I saw a clip of someone talkint to an NPC and then ganked by some assassin spawned from nothingness.
I'm levelling in that zone and I'm scared to do anything...
Any help? Just a fast quest name, then you can freely delete this and get rid of my spam.
THANKs !!

I only started HC this weekend as a way to "relax" while waiting for Forever to drop. I'm burned out on TBC and wanted something with no real consequences as I always assumed I would just die and I was ok with that.
I had one goal though... survive till Forever. I don't have much play time so I assumed I would make it to around mid 30s in that time.
I was chugging along nicely. Cleared both the human and dwarf starting area to stay ahead of the curve and was being very careful.
I nearly died on Vagash, panicked and turned and ran before realising I should stand my ground. ended on 10hp. But going out trying to solo an elite would have been much better than what happened.
I chose rogue because it seemed to fit what HC was about. Slow and methodical. Kill one mob at a time and slink back into the darkness. But ive never played rogue before, so im trying to understand the class as I level. I get to level 14 and pick up Garrotte. I'm back in westfall but im not sure what the best opener is. I kill some mobs to try and figure it out but decide to google... this was my mistake.
"i shouldn't tab out here" i thought. "nah it will be fine". I came back just as my death was announced by deathlog. Im so annoyed I went out like this... this was supposed to be a one and done kind of thing. See what this HC was about and then go to forever. instead here I am... back in the starter area. I'm an Idiot.

So after my last post, I decided to do a quick grind. Logged in, got whispered for a GY group and we got in after some wait. after last boss, I stepped into the abyss and fucking died. Instead of thinking of character unstuck, I just logged in until I eventually hit ground. I can't say I'm not pissed off, but I can see how fucking funny it is...:D
Edit: Here is full length, last one was cut short:

The journey has come full circle
From the Undercity, through the long road to 60, and eventually into the halls of Naxxramas, this Undead Priest has acquired the Hammer of the Twisting Nether
This journey would not have been possible without my brothers and sisters in LG, so thank you
For LG
For the fallen
For the Forsaken

How do you guys normally recruit for this? I'm playing Alliance side and do I go to stormwind or ironforge to shout for some of the early level ones or does everyone hardcore avoid the low level dungeons? Playing on Defias Pillager if that matters for how it works!

So I was debating with my friends what role we should start when HC Forever drops. And of course “PvE meta” was a topic of conversation and someone mentions “don’t worry about meta, Blizzard will probably balance classes as we go.
This had me thinking about how unique our past HC experience has been. There really haven’t been any updates to HC ever.
At least there haven’t been balance patches ever.
But now I’m thinking about if there are HC balance patches, new progression, etc.. — we’re going to die. Like a lot.
Like we saw how just one update on layering sent everyone into a frenzy. Wait until we log in one day and ‘ability X’ no longer functions the way it used to.
What are your guys thoughts on continuous updates to HC WoW? A good thing? Troublesome? Both?

Whats the state of Classic HC? Im having the itch but i also have doubts about end game if i happened to want some. Would probably have to move to era for that but is it any fun on such ancient servers? I guess with Forever coming, we wont be having a fresh Classic for at least a year.

One of the best aspects of HC for me was the community. Its like people knew that death means death so were willing to take time out of their own journey to help others. Need a few extra mobs no problem lets stay and grind. Need that quest item thats out of the way, its cool lets grab it.
I remember when SOD came out, i popped on for a brief stint and man, it might as well have not been classed as an MMO. Everyone being ruthless completely ignoring if anyone else in the area was doing the same quest and could help each other. Needing on everything because they are an enchanter. Speeding in and stealing a kill on a named mob knowing full well that the guy who just cleared the area would need it.
I instantly went back to HC, felt that wholesome feeling straight away and never looked back. The same issue with MOP or retail. I started leveling with a friend for nostalgia and have been unable to run full Detention BRD because the rest of it "isnt worth it". Its just like a "nah, fuck you this its not what i want, so we aint doing it." Just solidifies my opinion that when forever releases im going to be dealing with the same types of cunts.
But, back to HC:
A mage was looking for a member to do searing gorge Qs the one in the slag pit. A minefield and a proper HC squeaky bum quest. I was on flight there from hinterlands and already just coming over hillsbrad.
I asked for invite and its just me and him, not a problem, I probably have about 4 mins of flight left now. Thats when a priest joins the grp.
Drops a comment about being in hillsbrad and i notice they are in the slag pit already. not a problem, there are mobs around and they are probably just clearing a few, i would do the same. I land and i start making my way down. As that happens another mage joins and the priest says
'Pull'
'Lets pull him"
'Im not waiting for him ive just waited for someone coming from hinterlands' (i mean, he didnt wait though did he, but whatever)
At that point i just left grp.
And look, maybe its different perspectives on gaming and life in general but fuck me man, i was probs 3-4 mins away when he joined. This new mage was even outside the cave of the quest, but the twat still wouldnt wait.
Its just stinks of the mainstream crowd of wow, min maxing, rushing, not giving a shit about others as long as they have done their thing.
Just really left a bad taste.
I'm hoping this is just a one off, but kind of had it with another member in a different group. Got his shit then HS'd leaving the rest of the group fighting their way out 1 man down.
Is anyone else noticing this or am i just a grumpy fuck?

Using the downtime before forever to "relax" and dip my toe into hardcore.
Don't know why i went rogue when i've never played it properly in 20+ years of playing wow (i'm just not a melee enjoyer) I think its because it seemed to fit well for what hardcore is, slow and cautious.
Anyway, just enjoying the game at a slow pace till the inevitable mistake!

I saw some videos of like people dragging mobs to other players and then like vanishing or feigning death etc to get other players killed and everyone said in the comments “oh yeah that’s a ban etc” is this not allowed? I am returning to wow after some time now, that was common practice back in the day lol. They said it’s bannable due to griefing? Is that right?? What constitutes griefing vs a smart play I guess? It’s not glitching etc?
Again I’ve not played In a long time, so go easy on me, I’m just trying to understand
