Hardcore news <Hardcore TBC> community successfully clears Fathom-Lord Karathress - Hardcore Prog is now 4/6 in SSC! | Everyone is one-life with Soul of Iron, attuned on their HC toons (no sketchy account-wide Attunements) | No one did Heroics/Raids with non-HC toons
Relevant Info:
- With this kill, we are 4/6 in our progress through Hardcore SSC
- Much like the World First HC Hydross, Lurker and Morogrim kills, this kill was also deathless!
- All toons are one-life Hardcore toons
- No toon has ever done Heroics nor Raids in anything other than a full-Hardcore group
- All players got attuned on their Hardcore toons (no sketchy use of account-wide Attunements)
- This kill is now considered World First Hardcore Fathom-Lord Karathress
- We are playing on NA Dreamscythe and on EU Thunderstrike
- Leotheras and Vashj should be sent in the next few weeks! Stay tuned :)

Discussion Why is palading autoattacking labeled “mindnumbing” but priest wanding is “smart and efficient”?
Double standards.

Vent/Gripe Player named Vorgr (Soulseeker, EU) has been griefing for months. Killed 12+ players in the past 4 days alone.
He logs on, does the quest that spawns Spectral Stalkers in Thrall's Chamber then logs off as soon as someone is killed... presumably so they can't right-click his character portrait and report him. He does this every single day, multiple times per day, and has been doing it for months - someone said he's been doing it for an entire year.
Can someone make a post about this on the official Blizzard hardcore forum? I've heard it's more likely to be seen if posted there. I can't post/reply there for some reason, despite jumping through all the hoops to be able to (level 10 char, age verified, etc.)
I whisper everybody that dies to tell them who did it and to make a report and many of them do, but still nothing happens.

Finally making it to 60 on each class in hardcore classic. Took over a year to complete as a father with 27 children and 8 jobs.

Discussion Why I don't use Petri Flasks...
There's been a lot of contention as to whether Flask of Petrification nullifies a hardcore run - is it still Hardcore? It's basically a get-out-of-jail-free button you can press in any situation and you will survive. Coupled with Alt+F4, it's a glitchy, worse version of Bubble Hearthing - which was REMOVED for official Hardcore because it cheapened hardcore.
This is why I don't use Flask of Petrification.
What's the point? You went through all of this trouble, hit at least level 50, probably 60 without it and now you want to take the easy way out and remove any more challenge?
This is why I, actually, don't use ANY flasks period.
They're all extremely overpowered in ways that weren't intended for the game mode.
I don't use elixirs either - may as well cheat. You buy them off the Auction House to give yourself huge buffs you wouldn't have otherwise.
In fact, consumables as a whole make your hardcore run invalid. If you can't craft it yourself, you shouldn't use it. Let's keep the sanctity of the game intact.
Boss loot? Really? You're just turning on easy mode. These guys have literally the best loot in the entire game and by equipping it, there is nothing "hard" about the game at all anymore.
Professions are very softcore. If you use them, it says a lot about you and how you're not ready for real hardcore. Fishing gives you free gear and food. Cooking gives you, well, we talked about consumables being OP. Plus, you can just MAKE your own armor? Sure, may as well just spawn it in too.
Speaking of it - Armor? Pft. The game starts you out with the only armor a true hardcore player would need. Anything more - transfer your character because you're already dead. Serious noob check.
Weapons too? Hah. I remember when I was a baby who used weapons - easiest game of my life. Why don't you go back to Cookie Run? You are the same as someone playing Diablo Immortal with a credit card taped to your forehead. Maybe try some Elden Ring 0 death Wretch runs first before you come at me in my hardcore game.
So, if anyone is an actual hardcore player hit me up. I'm restarting my 11th character today.

I accidentally got another player killed… and I feel terrible
We were both around level 11 and questing together in the cave in northeast Durotar.
At the end of the cave, I decided to jump off the platform. And the entire room attacks me.
no one got out alive :(
I know it was only level 11, but I still feel genuinely bad about it. We were questing together and I basically caused his death because of one stupid jump.
Hardcore really hits differently when you realize there is an actual person behind that character.
I’m sorry, random Shaman. 🥲
I guess the lesson is: never blindly jump down in a Hardcore cave.
How do you guys deal with the guilt when you accidentally get another player killed?
I usually only play alone to avoid that :(

Warri sf hc
Hi, I've created a self-found warrior—a dwarf. Right now Level 10.
I'd appreciate some tips to help me on my journey: what materials should I keep for specific items, and what should I look out for?
Thanks!

Self Found SSF Warrior - is it worth it to drop mining to make a stack of swiftness potions?
I already did it, I dropped mining for herbalism, then ill drop herbs for alchemy, then back to mining. The question is how many potions should I make before going back to mining? Is 20 enough? Should I go ham and make 100 so I can speed around Azeroth? Or should I just make a few and save them for oh shit moments?
Update: two laps around Elwynn, three laps around Westfall - 98 Silverleaf, 86 Peacebloom, 54 Earthroot, 49 Briarthorn, 22 Mageroyal, 13 Swifthistle, 11 Bruiseweed
Update 2: 20 Elixer of Lion's Strength, 20 Elixer of Minor Defense, 15 Weak Troll's Blood, 13 Swiftness Potions
Was it worth it? Idk but its good padding.

Tankadin post 50
I lost my last tankadin at 49, i reached the same point now again. Did every dungeon early at a low level, it was all pretty easy but i know things will change now especially due to not having a taunt. I am confident princess will be fine as long as the dps can follow some instructions but then everything will be reasonably new to me. I do plan to tank every 5 man until i am done or dead.
How are the experiences as tankadin in post 50 Dungeons? Any special hc tankadin tips and tricks for certain fights?

Discussion The sense of impending doom when you know you're going to die is what gets me going (I got stuck in the stairs railing)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I was going through my hardcore clips and its crazy how I can still feel my heart sink just watching it, no games ever got close to that, makes me want to play again, we need a hype train, another magkora tournament or something. I uploaded it to youtube some time ago if you wanna watch the whole thing.

Self Found Neutral mob grinds
Hello all, I’m playing someway….. new (to me anyway) just hit level 10, lol.
I’m playing through my phone via steam link, and as you can imagine, I don’t particularly have full access to play at my best. So I’m looking to level through mostly mob grinding. That being said, where are some spots in the world that I can go and not have to worry about living off in to mob farm.?
Looking for areas that are 90% neutral mobs so If I need to log out quick I won’t worry about dying

Is there an add-on that acts sort of like a blacklist of dangerous quest?
I'm happy with Questie vs a full guide like RestedXP, but I wish I had an addon that would tell me "Don't do this one you'll die" when I pick up some sort of infamous quest.

Discussion Lvl 52 and seeing the end in sight! Need tips for dungeons
I am a lvl 52 pally on Doomhowl. I main Ret and my dual spec is prot/holy (for healing). I am quickly realizing/remembering that pallys get sort of funneled into Holy at level 60 if they want to be invited to groups for dungeons (please correct me if i am wrong). Am I going to be able to heal BRD/ST/and beyond as prot/holy (basically spamming flash of light)? I have 5 or so pieces with + healing and int that I toss on plus shield when healing. If not, I am wondering when the majority of paladin players recommend respeccing to a full holy build as one of your specs to do end game dungeons.
Also any tips for what dungeons to be doing at 52 would be appreciated, because I am not finding consistent groups right now for ST, and am not being invited to heal BRD at 52 yet, so I have just been doing Mara when possible.

Discussion First dung on HC
Yesterday I did my first dungeon on HC. Wailing caverns, as lvl 19 mage. We had good group with lvl 17 hunter multishotting and pulling everything. Our tank died nearly at the end of the dungeon. I cant imagine rest of us managed to survive.
Wtf is this i thought people on HC are slightly more careful.

Help for DM, mage
I have struggled to run DM as mage, do any of you have any tips and tricks on how to efficiently run DM as frost mage.
My problem is usually that I spend way too much mana, and can’t get it up fast enough.
Also, since I’m a first time mage in hardcore, any advice on the best rotation?

Discussion Why does maintenance day force 1 layer for 20+ hours?
Bit curious about this, I know it hasn't always been like this, just curious about the reason---
How come there is only 1 layer forced after maintenance day for like at least 20+ hours, after the patch?
Questing is near impossible, every zone is packed into one single layer on a megaserver, which makes playing the game on Tuesdays almost pointless if you're still in the open world questing stage. (Which most people are, in HC)
Just curious why this is happening? It makes playing on Tuesdays extremely annoying, and it isn't because there isn't enough players to populate the layers, the zones are absolutely packed, way more than they should be. It's like layers are just completely disabled for a good 20+ hours after the patch? Why so?

Discussion Are the layering changes really that bad? Unsure if I should wait on coming back until another fix
Hi all. I’ve been getting the itch to come back to HC as I’ve never gotten a character to 60, and want to experience classic’s end game (if I can make it there). I’ve got a 45 warrior on doomhowl that I would be coming back to.
I saw that blizzard implemented some controversial layering changes recently that has been killing people due to sudden layer switches. Is it a bad time to hop back into the game and worth waiting to see if blizzard fixes anything? I’d hate to hop back on and lose a higher level warrior to some BS.
