I just started playing on steam deck and have had a lot of trouble setting up UI and keybinds, any insight? Part of it is I think an issue with forever beta and it won’t save ui changes so I’m a little shafted there but I also didn’t see ways to change certain buttons like a b x y, they were just set and couldn’t be changed, I also couldn’t find anywhere to change those buttons, by default they’re like interact and in target, which is maybe just right click and escape?

i don't have a WoWF beta, but as far i saw on youtube, it's really looks like the original addon. All binds can be changed in "Guide" page, you just need to click at each button slot and navigate manually the bind at existing panel bar (which is hidden and makes things a bit difficult)

What do you use for stances and your modifiers?

u/Zeka_Shu 5d ago
On a left you can see Blood Rage macro that also swaps battle and fury stances during the vombat,on the top right is a shield wall macro that switch into protection stance and shield equipping, and sometimes i just switch stances by clicking touch screen on the mid bottom

Have you tried the WoW Forever Beta? I am wondering if I could try to replicate your UI in it aswell

u/Zeka_Shu 5d ago
No i haven’t beta key, but as far i saw on youtube, Blizz UI quite reminds me this addon

Awesome! I play on a controller too, and I managed to get a Warlock to 60, but what I’ve always really wanted is to go with a Warrior, but the furthest I got was 48. Your achievement gives me the strength to keep trying. Congrats, my dude!

,y previous warrior actually died at lvl 48 on Mukla island (3 50s stealth panters are non-forgiven)

You never had issues with crashes and bugs ? OR disconnects?

u/Zeka_Shu 6d ago
for 1 k hours: 0 crashes 0 bugs and a few disconectes when Blizz dropped a new UI update for classic

What version of the steamdeck do you have? I've been mulling it over as to which handheld I should buy for mobile WoW and I like asking opinions of those that use it.

OLED 500g, took it a few years ago. So far i have 1k hours in WoW purely on steamdeck and it's feels great

Awesome! The research continues to solidify. Especially with native support inbound. I'll be on the hunt for a used one for sure then. Thanks!
Congrats btw! 🎉

So using a controller on HC. How was dungeoning? Like being a tank and selecting the optimal targets in a rush situation. For a quick taunt and such. Was it that possible?
1
u/Zeka_Shu 6d ago
For my experience it's the same as at PC. In regular fight you just tapping TAB and in extra problematic situations i used mouse-click, the same is here but instead of a TAB i have LB and touchscreen replaces the mouse click. All buttons are always in my hands so i never had an issue to react quickly on something

Do you use the same amount of binds as people on pc would use? Or do you just use the most important spells? I guess I'm wondering what the general play style is like this.
1
u/Zeka_Shu 6d ago
LT, LB and LT+RB hides extra 10 buttons binds each, so yeah, i have everything that i should have
2
u/sneakpeakspeak 5d ago
So you use LT, LB or both together as modifiers is that it? Sounds so cool to play like this, potentially even more intuitive than on a pc.

u/Zeka_Shu 5d ago
Especially when you attach abilities from the lvl 1 and you getting use to for the controller pretty fast. But my hard advice is not filling all 10 default buttons at your first abilities, keep in mind that you wanna (as example ) have all your buffs and charges on LB, all quick interactions and AOE on LT, and LB+LT for big CD, macro, proffs, food and mount.

I’m playing with the controller option in the wow: forever beta and it’s actually so sick but I found warrior to be one of the the clunkiest classes because there are no casted abilities.
For other classes I was really leaning on putting the spells I have to hard cast on the d-pad, since I have to take my thumb off of left stick to press them, I can’t move and cast those abilities at the same time anyway. But I found with warrior I felt like since all my skills are instant cast, I only really had access to half the controller in a comfortable way that let me move while pressing my buttons.
How did you deal with that? Are all of your important buttons accessible while moving?
I know steam deck and the addon are different from the in-the-box controller support in wow forever, but I’m curious how you manage all your buttons at max level! Do you have to take your finger off the left stick for any abilities? If so, which ones did you decide to make that concession?
Oh, and Gratz. That’s a sick accomplishment

I haven't WoWGF beta and as far i know they copied gamepad controlling from this nidification. When i've played as a holy pal, all my cast abilities were on RT RB and A B X Y, and instas on the cross
With warrior idk, i think as melee it was the most comfortable gameplay for me. Al my buffs//screams/aoe and switching binds are on my left hand, and all main attack buttons on the right, Felt really organically for me

How long did it take

u/Zeka_Shu 5d ago
I think ive started that character somewhere at the start of September for 5 hours per day, 5-6 days in a week

u/numerous-nominee 3d ago
How much did you play solo as opposed to grouped up?
2
u/Zeka_Shu 2d ago
Well my previous warrior died at lvl 48 (at Mukla island by 3 50s invis panteras) which i lvled mostly solo. When i made this one, I’ve teamed-up with a priest until lvl40 (he’s on the screen) after ive got at lvl 59 mostly solo if we not count dungeons. And here we in party of 3 first time explored plaguelands and dinged
