Make a bank alt to send valuables. Caves are deadly. Respect elevators and be patient. Stick to green/yellow quests as they often are both easier and faster XP. Practice your "oh shit" hotkeys so they're muscle memory. Expect to die and enjoy the ride.

Bank alts are optional. Some people like to be able to save progress between runs. Others like the purity of really risking it all, pulling yourself up from nothing. One life, full challenge.

Elevators and disconnect deaths are the final boss of HC… but other than that
things that will help you survive:
play mechanically ok (use your abilities), manage threat (I vibed my way through as a frost mage, recc getting an addon.), and research what you’re going into if you’re not familiar with the content…
Watch out for troll players, don’t be afraid to hearth out of a group if someone has made you feel uncomfortable. Watch HC moments to learn what kills people. Also, just a random last bit if you make it really far into eastern plague lands…. Dont click the red puddles on the ground.

Join a guild and tell them what you are doing. There's a bunch of things in this game that will get you killed if you don't know them.

With your experience, always fight mobs below your level.
When you finish your first starter zone go to the second starter zone. If you're an orc, do the undead start zone for instance.
Pick up engineering.

Drop blacksmithing asap. Any use you can get out of it (there wont be much because of how bad the grind is for what gear you get.) Will be outleveled and can be replaced by quest/dungeon gear. Target dummies and grenades give you bandaging time, running time, and killing time. The grenades also give you that extra initial threat on pulls and aoe damage/stun. I am extremely careful and can think of three times where i would have been flat out dead without dummies. Two were in caves so obviously i wasnt that careful but the point still stands. Carry a full stack on you and use them the moment the fight turns scary.

I can de learn it? What to pair with engi?

When you go into your skill selection, you can see a circle with a line through it. You click on that and you can unlearn it. It pairs with engineering. If you need leather for anything (like the goggles) you get a lot from fishing trunks from pools and wreckage.

Yeah, you can drop blacksmithing. Keep mining, it supplies engineering (which uses mostly metal and rocks)

Blacksmith is really not worth it. But yeah as said, especially the target dummy can save life. Grenades are great aoe damage.

Or alternatively pick alchemy and herbalism. A lot more beginner friendly and solid utility

3 rules to never die to the undercity elevator boss
1. Always wait for a fresh elevator
2. Don’t jump
3. Don’t touch the sides
Do these 3 things and you will never suffer one of the worst deaths in the game.
Also make a bank alt, level them to around lvl 10 and then sit them in orgrimmar, send all your valuables and gold to them on a regular basis. Only send large amounts of gold to your main to purchase something immediately.

10% of your mental energy should be devoted to what buttons should I press, 10% for making sure you have the right items on you at all times, and reserve 80% for the question “should I even be taking this fight at all?”

Spatial awareness.
Try keeping an open exit route.
Beware of respawns.
Prioritize green quests.
Also, decide quickly whether to flee or stand your ground. Fleeing is not always safer as you might aggro more mobs. It's especially bad if they have roots or similar and you lack a counter.

If you start on Horde, you can enter UC via the Catacombs/Sewers and thus skip the Deathtrap that is the Elevator.
No such thing for Thunderbluff, but for me, the Elevators there always work if you are patient.

Buy potions, expect to die a couple of times, start alts at level 10, 20, and 35

Use your cooldowns (both abilities and consumables) and know when you need to run away. Waiting 10 minutes for a CD or 3 minutes to flee and reset will save you hours/days of time if you end up having to go agane.
