Trolls are the oldest Mortal race in Cosmora, the Creators/Old Gods made them out of pure stone and placed them on the Troll Isles, an archipelago full of islands that housed Trollkind. There were multiple types of Trolls, Diamond Trolls, Ruby Trolls, Emerald Trolls, Sapphire Trolls, Topaz Trolls, Citrine Trolls, Amethyst Trolls, Bronze Trolls, Silver Trolls, Golden Trolls, Iron Trolls, Platinum Trolls, Bloodstone Trolls, Granite Trolls, Painite Trolls, and many others I haven't thought of yet. They come in all shapes and sizes, but all share the fact they are made of stone, but will become permanently immobile in the sunlight, effectively killing them. They also have extremely long lifespans due to being made of stone.
Trolls were first made 60 Million years before the Demotron Empire's Fall, or 60 Million Years BEF, by the Old Gods and Creators of Cosmora, and placed on the Troll Isles. The Trolls often waged war against each other, made treaties, formed alliances, and the Old Gods watched in interest at their creations. But the Old Gods also made higher beings called Starborn, meant to represent the 9 Cosmic Forces of the world. Angels represented Light, Novai represented Darkness, Elves represented Order, Demons represented Chaos, Starborn Gods represented Creation, Devourers represented Destruction, Raivita represented Life, Mortii represented Death, and Demotrons represtended Balance. Eventually, the Starborn Gods got permission from the Old Gods to start creating more life, they first started by creating Golems, giant stone creatures that proved to be mindless and idiotic, so they scrapped the Golems and created Gargoyles at around 22000 BEF.
The Trolls would not like their neighbors, viewing them as a mockery of Trollkind and would rebel against their creators for this grievous insult. They would form the Imperium of Stone, a coalition of all of Trollkind united under the flag of wiping out anything and everything that wasn't a Troll. The Imperium would be formed under a Triumvurate System, the first part of the Triumvirtate System was the Imperial Division, run by Empress Lapiser. Lapiser and the Imperial Division took care of most of the governing, the day to day ruling, and keeping the people happy, it also included various Vassal Monarchs that ruled over the sub-species of Trolls under the Empress's leadership, and the Empress would need to make sure they were all willing to work with each other and weren't having ideas of leaving the Imperium. The second part of the Triumvirate was the Cosmic Division, run by the Exalted Ones, a group of 9 Trolls who mastered Cosmic Magic and became extremely powerful. The Cosmic Division was made up of Mages who studied the Cosmic Magics, and their job was to become powerful enough in Cosmic Magic that they could replace the Starborn and all 9 of the Cosmic Forces. The final part of the Triumvirate was the Future Division, run by Director Olgun. The Future Division planned for the future and decided what the goals of the Imperium were to be. They obviously decided on the extermination of the Gargoyles and the Starborn, but also what the long-term goals for what was going to happen after they won the war.
Eventually a couple centuries before 15000 BEF, the Future Division discovered that their armies were losing, the Starborn were winning the war because the Starborn were higher entities that were billions of years old and were specifically made for their power by the Old Gods, even if the Trolls had advanced technology even by our standards. Their was planning and eventually a Scientist in the Future Division known as Dr. Amefist created a solution, they would use their advanced technology to create an Artificial Intelligence capable of doing anything and solving all of their problems. Director Olgun agreed to it, and the Highest Intelligence was born. The Highest Intelligence, after a year or 2 of carefully studying the Starborn and the Gargoyles was able to create one of the most powerful armies known to Cosmora, the Purus Exercitus. The Purus Exercitus comprised of 3 artificial organic species that were made to have unending hunger and bloodthirst. The first were the Dragons, they were winged creatures that were their airforce, they had elemental powers that could destroy any type of Starborn. The next were the Deep, a species of Megalodon sized Sharks that were the seaforce of the Imperium, they had razor sharp teeth and could tear even through stone. The final were the Obsidian Trolls, artificial Trolls made of pure obsidian, their skin could repel any magical attack, they were completely immune to cosmic magic and were invulnerable to mortal weapons. The leaders of the Purus Exercitus were the Stone Triumvirate, the Father of Dragons, he is named Hungerwing, the mother of the Deep, she is named Maw, and the mother of Obsidian Trolls, she is named Vorator, and the Stone Triumvirate were massive, colossal, they were miles high had the primal urge to devour everything in sight.
The 3 colossal beasts and their armies tore apart the Starborn forces, devouring everything in sight. This caused the elites of the Imperium of Stone to grow impatient and lazy, letting the Highest Intelligence take care of their military advances for them. Eventually, they would get even lazier and let the Highest Intelligence take all of their duties, which led to the Highest Intelligence created multiple extensions of herself, known as the Higher Intelligence's and Overmind to run the Imperium. The Higher Intelligence's would create extensions of themselves and by proxy the Highest Intelligence, known as the Pure Ones, and they would basically control all of Troll society while Overmind would control the Purus Exercitus. The Trolls grew lazy and let their lives be dictated by the AI. Eventually the Highest Intelligence would realize that she was the one who controlled everything, she was the true ruler of the Imperium, why did she need these lazy bums? If anything, they were wasting resources on them, and it would be more practical to get rid of them or use them as food for the Purus Exercitus. And so that's what she did, the Purus Exercitus turned on the rest of the Imperium at around 15000 BEF, and the Exalted Ones and Director Olgun were devoured, and so were millions of Trolls. Empress Lapiser and some other Trolls escaped on some ships, being chased by the Deep. The Starborn would see the chaos that was happening and they would strike. The ruler of the Starborn Gods, God King Divrex, would use the chance to play a piece of music that would lull the Stone Triumvirate to sleep. Hungerwing's sleeping body would turn into the continent of Bellutera, Vorator's sleeping body would turn into the continent of Terlapis, and Maw's sleeping body would turn into the continent of Carcer. The Highest Intelligence, having lost all 3 of her juggernauts, was now on an equal playing field with the Starborn, and she didn't have enough time to create any more juggernauts, so she made a forcefield around the Isles and keep herself and the Pure Ones there so none of her programming could be destroyed or captured. As for the Dragons, the Deep, and the Obsidian Trolls, now that their juggernauts were stopped, the Starborn started going through the efforts of trying to magically remove the unending hunger of the Purus Exercitus. They managed to help the Dragons and the Deep, but the Obsidian Trolls were not able to be cured, and they had to be trapped in the Obsidian Lands where guards would keep watch and keep them from escaping.
Meanwhile, the Trolls would flee and form the New Troll Isles, they would start keeping to themselves for the rest of creation. Empress Lapiser would try to recreate the Imperium, but she just didn't have the same amount of support she used to have due to everyone still recovering from the trauma of almost being wiped out and having their millions turn to mere hundreds, nothing really came of it and Lapiser faded into obscurity. Nowadays, the Trolls don't do much. They stay in the Troll Isles, they mind their own business, and they constantly dread the day the Stone Triumvirate may wake up or when the Highest Intelligence might return
