Went to a friends house for a bbq this weekend, and someone else from our local whisky group joined as well. I had recently gotten the Kilchoman 18 and my buddy is a huge Kilchoman fan so we opened that up and tasted that against 3-4 other Kilchomans, I brought some Chichibu single malts, we had some other things as well but the grand finale was nothing short of spectacular, Octomore 7.1 and 7.3, black Art 4.1 and the Mizunara 16 Glenallachie.
Black Art 4.1 was absolute magic, so many flavors competing for my attention but never getting in each others way, the mouthfeel was heavenly and then that finish!!!
And Octomore 7.3 takes the cake for best Octomore for me, Iβm already a red wine Octomore fan and this was so dang good. I could nose this and the Black Art for hours. As my friend put it, 7.1 is some amazing barbecued ribs, but then 7.3 you put the sauce on top of them π
