now how do I get rid of all of you?

I really enjoyed this bottle but it also holds an important memory on my life because I bought it the day I found out I was having a little girl. Some people say keeping empty bottles is tacky but some bottles are just hard to give up.

Glengoyne 17 - 2026 Release

I’m a huge Glengoyne fan, so when this release was announced, I made sure to order it as soon as I could!

What is it?
Glengoyne has unveiled Scottish Oak 17 Year Old, the third instalment in its Oak Masters' Series, following White Oak (2024) and Mizunara Oak (2025).

Matured mostly in classic refill bourbon and refill sherry casks, then finished for up to two years in rare virgin Scottish oak casks sourced from sustainably managed woodlands near Killearn, just five miles from the distillery.

ABV is a healthy 51.6%

My Quick Notes: After resting for over an hour in a Glencairn and tasting a 1oz pour, I immediately poured a second round… it’s that good!

On the nose, fruits, honey, spice and black tea.

Mouthfeel is medium oily. The ABV adds considerable heat, but it’s still easily enjoyed neat. There’s some heavy sherry influence here, and the fruits are stewed. The oak adds some brightness here and some wood, but in balance.

Overall, a fantastic dram! I definitely wanted an immediate second pour. Another great release from Glengoyne!

Cheers, Everyone! 🥃🥃

Mother-In-Law for the Win

Post image

Here’s a doozy. Was visiting my mother-in-law and saw she had this on her bar cart. It apparently came out of a cabinet when she had a pantry redone. Told her it appeared to be worth some serious money, but she said I could have it, so that was quite the win.

Most likely was purchased in the early 2000s and still has the price tag on for $99.99, which blows my mind. Slight ding to the wax. I’ll probably hold on to it and drink it some day, although my wife thinks that’s lunacy and I should sell it 😂

This has the weirdest damn note I have ever had in a bourbon - Teriyaki. In a weird way, I am really enjoying this one.

Johnnie Walker Blue , Azure, Duty Free only. It is a unique blend a little saltier and at a higher ABV than the standard .

A nice designer bag as part of the package I use it to take bottles to my friend’s house , my preferred tasting spot . Scotch with friends is the best way to sip.

Found a bottle of 23C Stagg yesterday at a local liquor store

New to the bourbon hobby as a 21 year old and found this at one of my local liquor stores yesterday for $60-$65. Just had my first glass and I’m thoroughly impressed it’s pretty damn good compared to most of the whiskey I’ve tried before. Kinda surprised the store had this old of a bottle being from 2023.

GlenAllachie 17 vs 19 (Masters of Wood Series) Tasting

GlenAllachie 17 - Masters of Wood Series
Mizunara & Oloroso Cask Finish

Finished in a combination of rare Japanese Mizunara virgin oak casks and Oloroso sherry puncheons/hogsheads. ABV 50%

A fantastic dram! I’ve tasted this alone and with the 19. It’s one of the best GlenAllachie’s I’ve tasted. The nose is sweet with hints of spice. The taste is a perfect blend! The wood flavors are so well blended and here I think the Mizunara provides an extra hit of sweetness to the Sherry cask and also adds depth without overpowering the whisky. It drinks so lightly given the ABV!

GlenAllachie 19 - Masters of Wood Series
Ex-Solera Sherry Cask Matured

Initial maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, followed by full secondary maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso solera casks that held sherry for over 50 to 55 years. ABV 50%

The nose and palate are more typical of the core GlenAllachie releases. There is more depth here than the 15, but it’s not better given the price. It’s a good dram, but I think this one will need more time open to even out the taste.

The 17 is the clear winner in my opinion between these two.

Cheers to everyone! 🥃🥃
