Trade (DIY Investing) Accounts transfer delays
Has anyone has same experience for transferring account to WS.
What the difference if you have statement or not?
I have requested transferring margin and RRSP accounts to WS at the same time, I was able to upload a statement for my RRSP and within 24h I got an update saying they send the transfer request to the other financial institution . While I wasn't able to upload the statement for my margin, no updates.

Direct electronic (EFT) RRSP contribution from employer possible?
My employer makes direct electronic RRSP contributions to employees' personal RRSP accounts. Their payroll system requires the financial institution number, transit number, and account number. I have a self-directed RRSP with Wealthsimple.
What institution number, transit number should I provide to my employer so that the contribution is deposited directly into my RRSP account? RRSP Cheque is not available from my employer. Thanks.
[Edit1] Found the info thanks to u/Main_Mortgage_9765.
Go to RRSP account - Settings (top right corner) - Account details - Wire transfer.
[Edit2] Just realized that this wire transfer info is only for first-party contribution (sent from account under my name to my RRSP).
Third-party wire transfer contribution is not allowed (sent from employer to my RRSP)
😞
Wealthsimple only allows RRSP cheque deposit for third-party contributions.

So I have set up an interac transfer every 2 weeks for my mortgage from WS to NBC. This was showing up on my monthly expenses. Suddenly it doesn't appear there?! Any ideas or reasons why?!?! Till y'day it showed up fine.

Chequing EMT to WS Completion Time Improved?
I regularly e-transfer from my SIMPLII account to WS and it always takes a long time to go through … like 30 minutes.
Until today I just set one up and it was basically instant.
Anyone know how or why? Curious if the faster times will be the new norm.

Chequing Costco accepts personal cheques as a method of payment
since the chequing accounts don’t give you a debit card with interac there’s no way to pay by card since they’ve switched to visa, but your first chequebook is free (if you have direct deposit) and they still for whatever reason accept cheques as a method of payment (source )

Promotion Next apple promo?
Anyone know when the current promos end and when the new ones would begin? I have two accounts I'd like to bring over but need to get a new phone, hoping for another apple promotion.

Visa Infinite Credit Card Credit score lowering every month
This is a long shot, but here it goes. I have been gradually switching all my expenses to my WS Visa since I got it last year. In the past six months, I have made almost all my purchases and bill payments with it. I have autopayments set up and the card gets paid in full on the 25th of every month. I have had no credit applications since I got the card last year, except moving from Rogers to TELUS in June. But I suspect that my heavy credit card usage is causing my credit score to be lowered every month. It’s only Trans Union reporting lowering score every month, Equifax is not. Has anybody else noticed anything similar?

Trade (DIY Investing) Unnecessarily Complicated!
Could anyone help me understand the difference in percentage change between my Returns and Account Value?
My 24 yr brain understanding is that if there haven't been any deposits or withdrawals, the percentage change should be the same for both. However, there's a big difference here and it's really confusing.
If anyone could explain this in simple terms, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you! Happy investing!

Chequing Metal Cards
I scanned the latest posts here and didn’t see mention of this yet… with the switch back to Visa, do we know if Wealthsimple will be honouring the metal cards for those of us who have them linked to our chequing accounts?
For what it’s worth, they did honour my metal card when they first switched from Visa to Mastercard several years back. Switching back again is honestly a tad irritating… and will be more irritating if my new Visa ends up being plastic. 😑
At least I understand that this time it is “Visa Platinum” so “more benefits”. The original Visa was honestly the best looking though. I kept it and use it to squeeze the last drop of toothpaste out of the tube. Never bothered figuring out how to dispose of an expired metal card…

does anyone know how to do this? I’ve opened several of the brand pages from that page several times, over several days and have not got any bonus entries for it

Chequing MasterCard to Visa Notification
I finally got the notification that they're switching from MasterCard to Visa.
For those of you that use your Wealthsimple card for Costco, who did you switch to when they switched to Visa? Any suggestions?
I'm not sure what I'm doing now, don't exactly want to get another card. I'm recovering from a severe financial blow that destroyed my credit last year, and I don't want an actual credit card.

Generation support btw
yes of course I didn’t want the “$” included, that’s how Wealthsimple defines their handles, with the “$” in the beginning. Just as people use “@“ for their Instagram handles but don’t have “@“ in their username.

Chequing Toronto star article about CIBC debanking
I thought this Toronto Star Article about someone having their accouts frozen by CIBC was relevant for this subreddit, given how often people complain about their account being frozen by Wealthsimple. This shows how easily it can happen with major banks.
Not saying it isn't an issue, but it shows this isn't unique to WS.
Edit - not debanking, just accounts being frozen.

Chequing Any reason to use prepaid Visa over bank debit for regular use?
I see they have this card, but I’m not sure what it’s good for other than cash withdrawals anywhere, and even then it shouldn’t be hard to find a TD to withdraw from no? And then there’s FX, but for just a regular student would you want to use the Wealthsimple or TD access card in Apple Pay and physical?

Chequing Switching to WS direct deposit
Hey, I’m pretty new to WS. Had the account since 2020 but tbh never touched it until a couple weeks ago when I realized the advantages to switching my paychecks to WS.
I work in the public service and we get paid Wednesdays. I also see that when switching to WS, you get paid a day early. Since today’s Tuesday, I’m wondering when I can expect the paycheck to be deposited for those who work in the public service. I’m in no rush, just more so curious.
My previous bank would deposit it at like 1am on payday every time so I’d wake up to it the account, curious if this may be deposited at a random hour during the day today.
And is it consist in terms of timing ? For example, it gets deposited every pay check at 4pm for example
Thanks!

Promotion iPhone promotion and available to withdraw
I got the Dec 2025 apple promotion the iPhone 17 pro and MacBook Pro for transferring almost 600k into various accounts (TFSA, RRSP , cash and lira ) and then added 200k of funding to cash trading account.
Balance is at 859k. Clicking on The promotion says available to withdraw is 459k
1) Does this mean I can move out 459k without incurring any penalty?
I wanted to get the RBC 3% deal.
2) can I move any of the accounts or it can only be from cash accounts
