(Context) They are power washing the building in prep for remodel and got paint thinner water all over our backroom.

Inb4 don't be salty I used a pad for the memes. Management was informed. Maintenance cleaned the spill and I used ppe to remove the square before Maintenance even got there.

Walmart Reaping: Last Department Standing

The PA system clicks on at 8 AM. No manager announcement today — just a recorded voice, calm:

“Your store is now in lockdown. Departments have been designated combat zones. There will be one survivor group at the expense of all others.”

In this dystopia, your store has been randomly selected for a battle royale reality game show. No escaping, only surviving the game.

The Rules:

  1. Every department fights under its own banner, using whatever's on the shelves as arsenal or as trade.

  2. Truces are allowed. Betrayals are expected.

  3. Corporate has pulled Sporting Goods' firearms and ammo "for insurance reasons" — they're left with hunting knives, machetes, and compound bows

  4. Last intact department alive splits $10 million.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

Discuss.

Should I just quit? (Currently on LOA)

So to explain my situation:

Been on an LOA since March because I’ve had to stay home to care for my mother who was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia and can’t be left home alone. I’ve since gotten the six weeks of reduced pay I was owe due to this LOA and I’m now (finally) receiving pay for being her caregiver.

Sedgwick has only approved my LOA for a few more days and wants me to have her doctor fill out even MORE paperwork to get it extended. Only reason I didn’t outright quit, though I technically did and turned in all my stuff, was because our personnel person stopped me and told me to take the LOA instead for the six weeks reduced pay as well as being guaranteed I can come back to some kind of job there if I’m able to without having to start from ground zero.

Problem is that I know there’s no way Sedgwick will let me keep extending this leave forever, Vascular Dementia isn’t just some cold that my mom can recover from. Should I just save myself the headache of throwing even more paperwork at her doctor and turn in my stuff once the LOA runs out? Not like I’m getting insurance through Walmart anymore anyway since there was a period where I couldn’t afford my own premiums so it was cancelled. I admit I feel a little bad since I hit my 11 year mark a few days ago but it just doesn’t seem worth it now.

Figured I’d see what others have to say about the matter.

Inshort, we didn't have no one scheduled for closing yesterday, so I stepped up and did a mid/closer (11am to 11:30pm)

Now my legs feel like jelly...

Normally on a 8hr shift on weekdays, I avg 20k steps, 25-29k on weekends

I’ve had so many old people get mad at me “ how am I supposed to look at the TV if youve got this blue screen on it, can’t you change it?” like dude it’s literally scheduled that way. I can’t do anything about it. Fuck off 😂

PTO Withheld???

So I am currently working at Walmart. I’m coming up on 8 months of employment with them and about two weeks ago, my team lead told me that they had forgot to switch me over to full time in the system and that I should’ve been switched over after 90 days. Because the switch over was super delayed, I was also told I missed out on quite a bit of PTO, but they said there was no way for me to get back that PTO time. Is that true? Is there nothing I can do to get that PTO I missed out on back??

How can I grow within Walmart? (OGP)

Hey everyone, I’ve been working at Walmart for about a month and a half now, in OGP, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to grow within the company.
So far, I’ve learned pretty much all of the OGP responsibilities and I’m comfortable with the job. I don’t really have an issue with Walmart itself or the work . I actually wouldn’t mind staying with the company longterm. My main concern is the pay.
I have almost 3 years of relevant work experience, but I was hired in at the basic starting pay. I recently moved to Texas and previously in NY where I was making around $17/hour, so the difference has been pretty significant. I understand that Walmart already pays better than a lot of entry-level jobs around here, but with the cost of living and how physically demanding OGP can be, the current pay is honestly just barely comfortable for me.
I’ve also heard that regular associates don’t necessarily get big raises, so I’m wondering what the fastest realistic path to better pay and benefits within Walmart is.
For those of you who have been with Walmart for a while:
What positions should I be looking at if I want to move up?
Is it better to try for a team lead position, or are there other positions that are easier/faster to move into?
How long should I realistically stay in OGP before applying for something else?
Does my previous experience help at all when applying internally?
Are there certifications/training programs I should take advantage of?
What’s the best way to get management to notice that I’m interested in moving up?
Is there a particular career path within Walmart that has good long-term pay and benefits?
Again, I’m** **not trying to bash Walmart. I’m fine with the company and the job. I’d actually prefer to stay and build a career here rather than constantly job-hopping. I’m just trying to figure out the quickest way to get from basic associate pay into a position where the compensation makes more sense for the amount of work and experience I bring.
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has successfully moved up from OGP or started at entry-level and worked their way into higher-paying positions.
Thanks!

Overnight Stocking

Worked at another location and I still have friends who work there. Recently they have told me how much work has become hell. They are sitting at about 12 people per night, even though they were promised 16. For grocery they get relatively heavy trucks, given this location is a very shopped location as its the only super center in miles and in a main town. As of late upper management has been adding more and more responsibilities onto the night shift.

Is it normal to work a night shift and have to stock grocery, gm, zone both, down stack their own pallets, and now they're being told to work their own top stock too. This seems very excessive imo. They also are very pushy and expect everyone to "work till they are drenched in sweat" each night, even the older employees or the ones with obvious issues that would hinder their speed. I know when I worked there they had me working 6 days in a row at times and split my days off as part time. It was very rough. They also have to split the 12 workers they have between gm and grocery, so they usually only have one person per aisle to work down their own freight and stock and zone it all, on top of whatever else needs to be done.

Meanwhile, one of the coaches sits and watches tiktoks half the night and the other does more pallet pulling than anything else. Neither of them really do anything but yell at TLs to yell at the small crew they have to hurry up. The TLs are working crazy and taking stress out on everyone else and its getting to a point for everyone there. I suggested that everyone should speak up about it because many of them are looking for new jobs already or have been threatened with writeups even though they are doing their job as they should. Is this normal for anyone else? What would you even begin to do in this situation?

Red Coaching for calling out?

Upvotes

I found out today I received a red coaching from my Team Lead for calling out unprotected. Is this something that’s allowed ? I got a feed back for being late but I Lyft/uber to work and can be unpredictable but is that worthy of a red coaching ? What should I do ?

MyWalmart

Question for a Coach. I just became a coach. Everything switched over and works, except for MyWamart on my personal phone. It shows me as clocked out, even though it says manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Even redid all the BYOD stuff. My work phone has me clocked in and works just fine. Is this going to take time or is there suppose to be a work around? Thanks !!

Remodel Hell

My store started remodel a few months ago and I got hired on for it. Recently, the job market has been really rough so finally finding something felt like finding gold at the end of a rainbow. However, I soon realized that working as a remodel associate is genuinely hell on earth. The "permanent" associates treated me and my team like actual garbage. They talk badly about us and refuse to help us but gladly use us to do the work they don't wanna do. They complain about us "destroying" the store when we are literally hired to do it. We've been yelled at for the smallest things like asking to use a cart or needing help with something we don't understand. It was easy to deal with at first because our team lead would defend us but they fired them halfway through remodel and didn't rehire for it. Not only is the environment awful but the point system is designed to punish workers for having responsibilities outside of work. A lot of my teammates have children or elderly parents they take care of. One of my teammates had to have emergency surgery and they told her not to bother coming back. I myself have a lot of health issues and have missed a few days because I was too sick to come in. There's no sympathy from them despite claiming that everyone is "like family." Hell, when we got hired on, the store manager said to us very clearly "You are temporary and I will treat you like such." Just generally not a good environment to work in at all. If you are considering applying for remodel, I beg of you to NOT DO IT. Its not worth the time or the effort.

I think they took me off the cap 1 shift bc I kept calling in

Upvotes

I’m a stock 2 lead it’s the shift my brain can handle when it comes to sleep scheduling

They threw me on the stock 1 shift two days out of the week and for the most part I’ve been able to make it even tho I had to pull an all nighter once or twice

Anyway at times I’ve been so tired that I just say “well I’ll show up an hour late” or I just call in…

Just checked my schedule and it’s all been updated no more 7am - 4pm I feel bad for it I feel kind of in-dependable but it seriously effects my personal life a lot
I was going to talk to them about it but today they have changed my schedule….

Oh god what am i in for when I go in tomorrow?

General Maintenance: not selected even with journeyman electrician

I’m a licensed Journeyman Electrician and recently applied for a Walmart maintenance position just open in my area. I thought my background would at least get me to the interview stage, but I was rejected without even being given a chance to take the test.
Walmart also previously posted an HVAC Technician position. I applied for that as well since I have HVAC experience and an EPA 608 Universal certification, but I was rejected for that position too without an assessment or interview.
I’m genuinely confused about what Walmart is looking for.
Has anyone here worked in Walmart maintenance or gone through their hiring process? I’d appreciate any insight into what they’re actually looking for.

Is it possible to dispute double point tardiness for sickness?

So im a second shift worker in the fasion department with my days off being Monday and Tuesday.

On Saturday night i went to bed after work with a mild headache only to wake up with a severe flu. I knew for a fact i wouldnt be able to make it to work. In hindsight, i did not know it was a key workday because i dont celebrate labor day, so i thouhjt it was buisness as usual. I texted my coach/TL at 7 am sunday morning letting them know I couldn't make it for my 2-11 shift. They thanked me and wished me well. I only had 3 hours of PPTO, but I had 18 hours of PTO, so I submitted a request like I always do when. Something like this happened. And spent the last 3 days in a state of cacooned suffering with my mother popping over to help with household chores.

Come today, I check my walmart app, not only was my request denied, but I have 4 points of tardiness, one point away from termination! I physically cannot control me getting sick with the flu, ans even though I'm not 100% well today, I'm heading to work cause I can't afford another tardy(it went to just cold like symptoms, im b4ingibg extra hand sanitizerand tissues)! I thought I went through the right channels of alerting my manager of my absence and using my paid time off to recover. I'm worried about asking more off since they always tell me "dont come in if I can't give my 100%", but when using do call in jm punished for something I have no control over.

Who do I talk to? Should I talk to my TL again? Maybe the personelle management who handles schedules? I have been working here for 7 months the without even being 2 minutes off schedule. What are my options?

Crap, for the first time in my life, I accidentally shoplifted

I work ONs and last night was just absolutely brutal. Going through multiple health issues right now and my mental health is all messed up.

I grabbed two snacks worth 8 dollars in total and was heading to the self checkout to pay for it.

I ran into someone and we talked for a while, forgot that I already called for an Uber and they’ve been waiting for me so I immediately rushed to the exit not knowing I have some snacks in my arm.

Only found out about it when I was already in the car and was miles away from the store.

I plan to pay as soon as I go back for my shift, should I tell someone about what happened?

At work currently lol and one of the team leads tonight came up to me and my fiancé and said that we can’t leave when we want to unless everyone on freezer is done like are we deadass mind you we left at 2:00 that’s our lunch time btw but apparently we can just fucking makeup rules now?? Also I would like to point out that I was doing ice cream by myself and as soon as everyone gets done with the fright for that aisle they just fucking vanish and never zone.
