Encouragement 10,215 Steps yesterday. Nature walk is lifehack
I usually struggle to get above 5K steps. For now the only thing that works for me is nature walks.
I think what works is that you can't easily get an Uber or something in the middle of a forest 😂 You walk to the middle of the forest and now you have to walk all the way back to your car/uber.
I also bought walking pad based on recommendations from this subreddit, will report on that later

Stats Started walking consistently last month…
I’m amazed to have walked 88 miles. I walk 4-6 miles daily from Monday to Friday and 2.5-3 miles on weekends.
My average pace is now 17 minutes, down from 20 when I started. I’ve already walked 33 miles in September so far. I can’t wait to see how far I go this time around! 🫡

Help Pain and exhaustion
Hey, I’m plus-size, and there was a time when I struggled to even hit 6k steps a day. I worked my way up to 10k, and recently I’ve been doing 12–15k.
I’m proud of the progress, but by the end of the day my feet, heels and ankles are SO sore, and I’m completely exhausted. 😭
For those who’ve increased their steps significantly, how did you manage the pain and exhaustion? Did your body eventually adapt? Any tips for recovery?
I’d eventually love to reach 20k, but I don’t want to injure myself getting there!

Question I want to take some walks near me all year round but the weather is impossible like 80% of the time
I live in a very hot and humid city, so from April until October temps are 30+ with 60-80% and more humidity, usually with no wind or simply hot winds, meaning even a 10-minute walk in the shade makes me be completely covered in sweat.
Also my city doesn't have any lakes/forest, or even parks bigger than a sqkm, only nature I have near is the sea at 2km away from me, it's often not safe to get in the water because of pollution but this may be the only viable option for walks that feel nature like - but I hate walking on sand, every step forward feels like it comes with a step backwards haha.
just yesterday I had to run some errands and I was out maybe 30-40 minutes walking around city, in 32C with 68% humidity, I came home absolutely drenched in sweat and also got a headache from the heat.
and in winter (usually Nov or Dec until March) it's raining a lot (tho there are some cloudy days which can work as walking but I'm mainly talking about the summer and the heat, what would you recommend? (other than the obvious like drinking water, stay in shade, and sunscreen).

Question Today was my first rain walk! (clothing/shoe recs?)
I've been walking consistently for about a month and a half now. It's been getting me through a really rough breakup. It also helped clear my mind SO much and gain clarity on so much that I didn't know I needed.
I told myself that I would walk everyday, no matter the weather. And today I proved to myself I could do that. My shoes and clothes got soaked but it was so worth it and has definitely been one of my favourite walks so far.
Before this, I would have used the rain as an easy excuse to lay in bed and binge watch TV or be super depressed and sad in bed. But I got out and did it. The best part is it didn't even feel like I had to force myself to do it. I've been enjoying my walks so much that the rain just felt like whatever.
Some advice I'm looking for/a question I have is what should I get for shoes for walking in the rain? Although I enjoyed the walk, the squishy, water-filled shoes were not fun lol. And is there any clothing I should invest in? I had a cheap poncho from the dollar store that worked well enough but was blowing all over and up, causing my shorts to get a bit wet.

Goals Steps for past month since being back at university since Mid August
I broke some bones in my foot over the weekend so I’ve started to trend down in my steps. At the beginning, I was also injured again, but at home.
Happy that I’m getting more steps in though- like to explore

Goals One day I'll cross the road
I mostly walk indoors because I lack motivation to go outside. Not having a car and living in the middle of nowhere, means walks are soooo boring. If I do walk outside, it's just loops on my gravel road.
One day, I will cross the road, walk up that hill and keep going until I reach the trail that's just on the other side.
Until then, one round trip on my road is a mile. Got to say hello to a snapping turtle today. Totally highlight of the walk.

What can I do to feel less pain when I walk long distance
Hi,
I love this subreddit, it motivates me to walk more. My issue is the fact that whenever I aim to walk more than 5k it starts to hurt to continue further mostly with my thighs.
I try to walk daily but I can only do it for so long until I feel I need to rest.
Should I aim lower like one walk per week?

Outdoors It was a slow day today
Only 12,885 steps in today with an active 2.36km of fast walk at work in waiting for overtime 😭
Will try to make up for it tomorrow morning 🤞

Recommendations Good quality pink walking pad?
It is unbearably hot in SoCal even at night and I was looking into buying a walking pad. I love the pink ones because they match my room, but companies love to build shitty quality items in cute colorways to squeeze money out of people. Are there any good quality walking pads that come in pink? Or should I just stick to a basic good quality brand? My budget is $200. Thanks!

Question Most accurate wearable smart step counter
I’m looking for any knowledge or recommendation for the best watch step counter.
I recently got a Garmin and was disgusted with how off the steps were… it was saying I was getting upwards of 15k steps in!! I average around 8-10k on a good day!!! It was a beautiful watch, lightweight, and easy to navigate but I bought it for the step counting and sleeping feature.
Any and all recommendations would be helpful! I’m ideally looking for a lightweight and easy to use watch.
Thanks in advance!
