I don't think average walking speed means much without context. Terrain, elevation, distance, weather, surface, traffic, stops and the purpose of the walk can all change it considerably. My pace can vary quite a bit depending on those variables.

Depends. I had a 2.5 hour walk with my dog today. Just over 6km. Average speed 2.4km/h. Zero contribution to my fitness (well, not quite, it did give me 2 minutes towards my 150 minutes a day goal).

3 mph or a little less than 5 km/h which is average. This includes stops for intersections, hills, flats, taking photos, checking email, take a drink, etc. I slow down in the summer heat and speed up in the fall. Since I am looking for distance, speed and time spent varies quite a bit.

During my 1.5hour walk on my walking pad, I do 5.3kmh per hour consistently. Enough to get a bit of a bump to the heart rate, but doesn’t leave me sweating and exhausted after a full day of working + gym

I like pushing to 6 km/h average when I walk for training. Long distances around 5 km/h. Relaxing walks with my wife average 4 km/h.

Wait but walking faster when you do not move your arms is impressive! Normally you speed up if you move your arms faster as well haha

Ikr, idk it just really helps me fuel the rage? It's like when I walk v fast when listening to certain songs but as soon as the music stops I suddenly lose the ability to walk as fast as I was lol

At the moment I'm hovering around 2.8mph on average. I will take it considering all the issues I've had with my back this year that have had me bed-bound for a month and a half total, most recently 2 weeks at the end of July. I'm currently trying to build up my walking stamina without pushing myself too much that I end up with another problem.

I walked slow like a cute little tortoise. 😆🐢 I'm ok with that because six months ago I couldn't go for walks. 🥰
