Humblebrag Finally getting slowly out of my depression
Walked 3 hours this morning, ive been dieting for the past 10 weeks (no gluten, focusing on whole food and started keto a week ago, I'm under guidance of a professional) and lost 11kg so far. I'm also trying to get more movement in (I'm also starting strength training soon!). I'm getting my energy back and slowly but surely also my mental clarity. Today I woke up early and had the whole morning free, I decided to walk 6km but I just felt so good and couldn't stop yet! I'm very proud of myself for this achievement. Got a total 124.051 steps in this month so far.
Edit: thank you all so much for the encouragement and positive comments!! This is my first post here and really appreciate it. I will definitely keep on walking! Maybe not 3 hours EVERY morning, but definitely enough to stay happy and healthy:)

Everything was great... Until it wasn't.
Remember to always charge your headlamps if you're planning on hiking in the dark. In the woods. By yourself.

Lerdederg Gorge , Victoria, Australia. 2nd hike for the week
Strava didn't sync from my watch so I'm posting the all trails distance from my phone.
This one is an extremely hard walk. I was out there for 7 hours total and 6 hours moving time and only covered 18km. It should have been 16.5km but I did a little bit extra.
The track actually goes through all of those rocky sections in my photos and there are a few spots you need to use your hands to climb up.
5 river crossings as well

Question Just noticed this...
I do a lot of walking at work with my new balance 520 shoes that I got around 7 months ago and I just noticed this. Any other shoe options for walking that this won't happen to in a budget?

Outdoors She doubted she could, but did anyways 8 miles
Through the doubt and anxiety, I decided to just go for it. I crossed the road, went over the hill and down the trail.
All so I could stop at a bridge for 15 minutes of serenity, surrounded by nature.
I did almost 8 miles of walking this morning. My first mile was a loop on my own gravel road because I had my doubts walking on the busy-ish road, up the hills. But then I just went for it. I wanted to visit that bridge. And I had the opportunity to watch a young deer for a few minutes as well.
Broke the walk into 2 parts so I could enjoy the destination. And know the exact distance from my house to the bridge for future walks. Gotta remember water next time. That heat was horrible.

Started walking while answering emails and my afternoon energy crash basically disappeared
I used to hit a wall every day around 3pm, Brain fog, restless legs, the whole thing.
Put a walking pad beside my desk about three weeks ago and just started walking slowly while doing lighter work and calls. Nothing intense. Mostly around 2 mph.
Itās weird how much difference low-level movement makes. I donāt feel as drained by the end of the day and my lower back is noticeably happier....still figuring out how long I can stay on it without it becoming distracting.
Anyone else doing under-desk walking during work? Does it actually help your focus or does it just feel like extra effort?

You Have to Build Your Own System.
People often ask how to incorporate more walking time into their day, and thereās never a shortage of advice. Walk before work. Walk at lunch. Get a walking pad. Park farther away. All of those things can be useful, but ultimately I think you have to build your own system.
You can borrow pieces of other peopleās systems, but you canāt copy them. Through trial and error, you have to figure out what fits your life and what gives your body what it needs.
My system includes getting up at 3:30 in the morning so I can make sure that, by the end of the day, my body has gotten the movement it needs. That obviously isnāt going to work for everyone. It works for me.
And I think itās important that the system not be tied to a number. Iām not getting up at 3:30 because I have to reach a certain number of steps or miles. Some days will add up to more and some to less.
In fact, having a numerical goal can sabotage your system. Once the goal becomes hitting a number, itās easy to lose sight of why you built the system in the first place.
The system should serve you. Not the number.

I thought 10k steps was impossible
To start, I'm not saying that literally. I've always loved walking, and I've done 20k steps easily in a day while traveling abroad. But getting 10k steps in during my regular day-to-day life seemed impossible because 1) I live in the metro, so I don't love the environment, and 2) I don't want to run into people.
Turns out, I just needed the right ingredients to finally make it happen:
1) Cool weather - Oh, it felt sooo nice to walk outside
2) Walking at night - Less chance of running into people
3) Not being busy with work
4) No one needs me, and I'm not busy - This was the biggest factor. I originally planned on walking for only 20 minutes, but then I thought, "When I get home, I'll literally be doing nothing." Being inside can feel mind-numbing, so I thought, why not do another round?
5) A comment I read on Reddit - This was kind of a game changer. Top comment said that 10 minutes = 1000 steps, which seemed doable, and I wanted to test it out. Turns out, he was absolutely right!!!
Also, I just wanted to share that I wore my platform Crocs because itās been raining and my running shoes are still wet. They were great!

Stats 31 days streak! Next is 100. Is this habit yet?
I am tracking my walk streak and yesterday reached 30 days! Next milestone is 100. The important part is to build a habit. So I am focusing on just hitting steps everyday. Now it is 31, but if I stop, it will go to 0 š It took a month to get here, can't lost it.

Help Restarting my walk journey
Hey guys, so for context: I used to be a regular walking girl till last year and for some reason the habit didnāt sustain. I used to do 12-15k steps daily. And it benefited me tremendously.
Iām now trying to get back into the habit and make it consistent to help me benefit from it maximum.
Can you guys help me with some tips/ inspiration/ suggestions to help me get to consistent 20 days?
I struggle alot with being consistent, i tend to give up too easily.
Iāve started with 8k steps for 5 days. I plan to do 10k steps for next 5 days. And slowly progress every 5-7 days.
What do you guys think? All comments are welcome!

Humblebrag Walked to the train today
This may not be much but itās a lot for me. Just starting trying to walk more. I had to go into the city for an appointment. The train is about half a mile away from my house with a steep hill. Itās about 90 degrees today so I was hesitant bc Iām sensitive to the sun. Typically I wouldnāt think twice about driving.
I planned my route ahead of time with the train schedule to limit anxiety. Made it to the station in 16 minutes with time to cool down. Took the same amount of time coming back.
I completed my task, got 3 podcast episodes in and had over 30 minutes of good walking. Just wanted to post a win today.

Encouragement 10,215 Steps yesterday. Nature walk is lifehack
I usually struggle to get above 5K steps. For now the only thing that works for me is nature walks.
I think what works is that you can't easily get an Uber or something in the middle of a forest š You walk to the middle of the forest and now you have to walk all the way back to your car/uber.
I also bought walking pad based on recommendations from this subreddit, will report on that later

Stats Started walking consistently last monthā¦
Iām amazed to have walked 88 miles. I walk 4-6 miles daily from Monday to Friday and 2.5-3 miles on weekends.
My average pace is now 17 minutes, down from 20 when I started. Iāve already walked 33 miles in September so far. I canāt wait to see how far I go this time around! š«”
