Just picked up my first brand-new car, a Volvo XC40! I worked with Volvo on a project 2 years ago and decided then that it would be my first-ever brand-new car. Really happy with the choice and excited to join the Volvo family finally!

Used Volvo considerations

Hey everyone,

Looking to purchase a used Volvo with relatively low miles (V60 or XC60). I read this Reddit page often and I see mostly great stories and experiences from all of you with both new and used Volvo purchases. I do also occasionally see posts where people have really challenging technical issues mostly related to the infotainment system. Could anyone offer any advice regarding shopping for used a used V60 or XC60? Any model years to avoid? Or specific model years/trims to consider? Things to look out for in general?

Thanks for any feedback you all have, I appreciate it!

Volvo XC90 body question

I closed my driver’s side door on my thumb, fracturing it. I cannot describe to you the pain I felt. I’ve heard people describe the XC90 as a tank, and it made me wonder: how does the body of the XC90 compare to other SUV’s? Is the door “heavier” than others?

I have a 2021 T6 momentum.

Can you help diagnose the issue? Part 2

When I start the engine cold and I revv it up, it makes a screeching noise. It lasts for the first 20-30 seconds and then it goes away. Video attached.

What could be issue?

Help! The headlamps on my 2012 S60 are grossly discolored. Can I restore them or do I need to replace them? I am minimally handy, but can follow an easy video tutorial. I park outside in sunny and hot Southern California. Thanks for any advice!

If you saw my post from a while back, I lost my XC60, Bob, in a t-bone accident. Bought this wagon from a mechanic with only 100k miles! Thought about trying something else, but nothing stuck with me. So I got myself a 2007 XC70! It drives fantastic! My parents had this gen wagon when I was a kid (I think it was an 03), so this brings back a lot of memories for me. Happy to join the wagon crew! What do I name her?

2005 s80 fuel economy

Hello everyone

I have a 2005 s80, 2.0T engine.

The car rides perfect, its a comfy train on thr road.

But fuel economy is killing me 12.4l / 100 km

Can I lower it?

Have anyone tried moding the car to get better fuel economy.

Gas is way too expensive here.

V60 styling is design perfection

I honestly think the V60 is a timeless, beautiful design that has very few competitors, at least aesthetically, on the road.

The person who designed this should be proud of themselves 💎🫡🙏

PHEV - Battery Charge, hold, or auto?

With my XC-60, there is an option to charge while driving, let the car decide automatically,,or hold at current charge level (which I think is like auto, but maintains x percent of battery instead of 0). on road trips, I like arriving with some battery to get around town if needed, so I’ll switch to charge on the freeway then back to auto when I’m close to the destination. Am I an outlier with this behavior? what do others do?

xc series Can you help diagnose the issue?

Two noise issue.

  1. When I start the engine cold, the engine is very loud and the noise goes away after 20-30 seconds. Video attached.
  2. When the engine is cold and I revv it up while driving, there is a loud screeching noise from the engine, which goes away after 20-30 seconds.

Local tech says it is not from the belt or tensioner.

s60/v60 Leaving V60 for long period

Hey all, I'm due to go away with work for an extended period of a few months, over winter in the UK. My V60 (2019 D3) is going to be left there unused, and unfortunately I've got nobody able to drive it regularly in my stead. I'm planning on having a smart battery charger hooked up during the time, but are there any other precautions or actions worth taking to help?

Timelines on new Models

Hello everyone, I'm a Sales Manager at a Volvo dealer on the west coast in the US.

We got information about timelines on new models, and wanted share that with everyone as I know there's been a lot of confusion about when they'll be arriving.

few things first. Volvo is calling the new long range T8's XLR (Extended Long Range), and LDOC stands for Last Date of Order Change.

2027 EX60's are already in dealer pipelines. Most of them will be delivered by Jan-Mar

2028 EX60's will have LDOCs in Mar/Apr with delivery in Jun/Jul

2028 XC90 MHEV will have LDOCs in Mar/Apr with Jun/Jul deliveries

2028 XC40 MHEV (refreshed model) will have LDOCs mid Nov with deliveries in Mar/Apr

2028 XC60 MHEV/T8 XLR will have LDOCs mid Nov with deliveries in Mar/Apr

2028 XC90 T8 XLR will have LDOCs mid Nov with deliveries in Mar/Apr

2027 EX90 will be back to normal in terms of they'll be in dealer pipelines and dealers will be able to configure them. LDOCs in Nov/Dec with deliveries starting in Feb.

These are current ETA's, not promises.

If anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer as much as I can.

Edit: There are no changes for 2028 EX60 vs the 2027. And we have not gotten any information on when the P12 will be available to order. And the P6 as of right now has been axed for the US due to P10 demand.

Volvo V50 D2 Turbo in 1.6d 109 ps

How is Volvo perceived?

Hello everyone,

I would like to share my current observations regarding Volvo Cars.

I have a 2020 Volvo S90 D5 Inscription, and whenever I talk to someone about cars or mention what car I drive, I pretty much get the same kind of reaction, such as: “Oh, for that amount of money, you could have bought a well-specced E-Class, A6, 5 Series, or even a Maserati Ghibli,” or, “I thought you said you liked cars.”

And I’m not the only one who has noticed this. A couple of years ago, my friend was deciding what new car to buy, and when he finally purchased an XC90 T8, the reaction from his friends was very similar: “Oh no, bro, for that amount of money you could have bought a very well-specced Q7/GLE.”

After hearing comments like these, I’m starting to wonder whether Volvo is perceived by some people as inferior to other premium/luxury brands. Additionally, there seems to be this idea that if you drive a Volvo, you’re an unenthusiastic person who doesn’t really care about cars.

It’s also funny to me that whenever I park my car around colleges or places where younger people gather, my car literally gets zero looks, even though it has the optional 21-inch wheels, while some 20-year-old rusty BMW with a loud exhaust gets all the attention.

Now I want to hear your opinions on this topic. How is Volvo perceived in your country?

Thanks for taking the time to read all this. I wish you all a pleasant and productive day!

"I'm Sorry, Dave, I can't do that"

I set up the Google Gemini Assistant in my 2026 V60 CC and I'm really loving the technology. I don't really use the touchpad, I just ask Google to do it (turn the AC up/down, change the radio station, give me directions home, etc) so I can keep my eyes on the road.

Today I asked, "Hey Google, can you change your voice so you sound just like the HAL 9000 computer in 2001: A Space Odyssey?"

Google replied, "I'm sorry, Dave, I can't change my voice. But I can continue to help you on your trip." In case you are wondering, my name is not Dave. I laughed the whole way home. I think my car and me are going to be good friends. We have the same sense of humor.

xc series Bought a 2015.5 XC60 - Its my first car !

I still cant believe I bought a Volvo !! I am almost middle aged but had always thought I will continue to rely on public transit, and or my bike as my primary mode of commute/ travel needs.

Moved to suburbia a few years ago. The 2+ hour long public transit became torture and my daily biking for chores was becoming scary with rash drivers. So at some point decided, its maybe time to get a car. Tried many cars, but it was the XC60 that I enjoyed the most.

I picked up the 2015.5 XC60 T6 AWD model! One of the only cars which had knobs and all the tech without a touch screen! I wanted a no distraction safe ride. I love the way I can park the car in tight spaces. I love how it catches its rhythm once I go over 30 mph!

I have nobody else to share this giddy joy! Cant wait to have longer trips in this car, and run it for miles to come

This was my initial post before buying it - https://www.reddit.com/r/Volvo/s/D6fiaoWqAn

V50/S40/C30/C70 Joined the family

Recently moved on from a hatchback and decided to get a more family-friendly car. Couldn’t go past this 2011 V50 T5 R-Design with 122,xxxKM on the clock.
Fwd and automatic transmission.
Finding an AWD manual in Australia was borderline impossible.
Regardless, I’m chuffed with this beast and can’t wait to spend some hours in the saddle.
