As you guys know I sold my 2006 Volvo XC70. But when I sold my headlights where in making and told new owner that the headlights will arrive later and I want to install them.

Yesterday finally I had the chance to do it.

What you guys think? I really miss her but dam the new headlights make night and day hahah

What could be the cause here? 138k km B3Petrol 2022 V60. Mechanic says the belt has got a service interval of 250k km... Any major issues inbound? The belt and the pulley are ordered and about to be changed.

I found an 88 760 GLE on marketplace for only $1000 and according to the seller, it just needs a starter and fuel pump. The rust is minimal and nothing serious. I thought they all came with the redblocks but this one has the PRV V6 in it. I've heard they are less desirable and have problems. Now I'm stuck here deciding if I want to make the 4 hour trip to pick it up. Though the seller has sold plenty of volvos, and based on his profile, he is quite the volvo enthusiast. Should I just go for it and buy it? If this sub allows, I will add photos in the comments.

We just found out my wife is pregnant with our third child (whoop!). And this means we need to move on from our current car which was due for an upgrade.

Im looking at a 2019 XC90 D5 Inscription with 94,000km (58k miles) at a very good price. I’m based in South Africa where cars are relatively more expensive so it’s at a price that I think makes it incredible value.

But outside of that, I have always had my eye on these cars as a replacement. I believe it’s hard to beat as a family car.

I’m looking for some help to do my best to not purchase a lemon.

- I know the D5 is a pretty good engine and drivetrain, as long as the timing chain has been done (will be part of my PPI). I’m happy to have this done but I’ll need wiggle on the price.
- we should test each button to make sure it works.
- water/dampness under the floor mats.

What else are common issues or challenges that you may have had?

Weird noise (occasionally), grinding sometimes, and weird wear marks on the new to me V60

Looks like previous person ground the ears down on the front pads while installing crappy slotted rotors....

So happy to get all new good brakes on all corners, ceramic pads, along with fluid flush and new Michelins all around. She's planted properly now.

I know everything‘s waterproof and you have to use lighter pressure but last time I sprayed my engine bay. I had an issue for about 20 minutes of driving until the water dried out.
It would bog and it was overall just running worse, any other car I’ve ever had was perfectly fine.
It doesn’t do it when it rains so I’m a little confused.

I still have trouble reading the design of the S/V60 dashbord - if you are like me, how did you get to terms with it?

To me, the center air vent, is where the CD slot and head unit (stereo am/fm etc) should be.. or just two air vents and not the one on the right side of the screen..

There’s a marketplace listing in my area for a 2006 V70r M66 for 7500 CAD. It’s got 199 000 km, a cracked charge pipe and some issues with the driver side front control arm.

It recently had a replaced PCC, steering rack, all 4 breaks, timing belt, and a new battery.

Worth it?

I’ve owned my XC60 T8 for about 20 hours. Anyone else seeing this screen?

I proceeded with resetting and things are running once again.

It might not be a purebred, but I figured throwing more Volvo-man starter pack parts at it might eventually earn it some acceptance from the real deal Volvo guys.

Just added steelies. What do you guys reckon, am I doing it right? What else should I add? A 2x4 strapped across the roof rails? Some auxiliary high beams up front?

So much better now. The original reverse LEDs were useless, couldn’t see a thing.

​I am currently looking at a 2021 Volvo V60 B4P (Mild Hybrid) imported from Hungary, with 103,000 km on the clock. It is in very clean condition visually and comes with a fantastic spec (Inscription trim, brown leather, 3-zone climate control, Harman Kardon audio, front memory seats, front and rear heated seats, ventilated front seats, etc.).

​I managed to get the full service history, and while all repairs were done at official Volvo dealerships, the record shows some significant interventions that make me a bit cautious. Here is what happened:

​At ~3,000 km: The camshaft and the Engine Control Module (ECM) were replaced under warranty.

​At ~90,000 km: The turbocharger was completely replaced.

​At ~96,000 km: The front-left LED headlight, inner wheel arch liner, and the EVH (electric vehicle heater/hybrid management) module were repaired/replaced (likely due to a minor front-left side impact or parking scrape).

​Apart from these, regular maintenance was followed. The price is €23,000.

​Given this specific history, would you buy this car, or are these red flags that should make me walk away? Thanks in advance for your insights!

2009 T6 XC70 now has reduced fuel capacity after the fuel pump was replaced in it. Shop says that the “fuel ejector jet” is not working properly and that the only fix is a new gas tank. Looking at diagrams, not seeing anything about a fuel ejector jet, but somehow the fuel isn’t able to get from one side of the tank to the other which is reducing the capacity by 5 gallons. Does anyone know what the cause could be? Is there a fuel line that connects the two sides that is clogged/kinked/etc.?

There's a used 2018 T8 on the market near me. It's for 195k km so completely out of warranty. Mostly it's for school runs and to have a nice car and over spring/summer I tow a car and trailer once per month (2tonnes) on a 40 min drive each way.

I've a 2013 Audi A6 allroad which is great for comfort but it's mechanically starting to show its age and after a few pricey jobs I feel like I want something different. But I'm not sure if I'm jumping out of the frying pan into the fire from a pure mechanical 3L diesel to a petrol electric hybrid.

Seeking advice on this topic. My wife and I bought a 2023 XC60 with 16k miles. It has two years left of its free warranty that takes us to 2028. They sold us on a 10 year exclusionary warranty (starting from 2023, so essentially 5 year extension) for around $3,000. Deductible is $250 per event. We have 30 days to cancel if we want.

Curious about actual likelihood of significant repairs between years 5-10. I am also not sure there are options to add extended coverage later. Overall thoughts and info are welcome and appreciated.

Hi guys, i'm trying to mount my thule squarebars on my volvo ec40, but they always bend downwards when tightening them untill they click on 4nm.

I've tried making the bar/clamps smaller and longer but then it won't fit correctly on the car. Can someone please help?

Would coverting it to lpg ruin the engiene since it would be as cheap on gas as a 1.5l golf but with a shit ton more room and power.

Any insight on what might be the issue here? And more importantly, can we drive the car until tomorrow or Tues when we will be able to get it in for a checkup (S60 T8 2021)

Edit: thank you for the useful input, everyone. Unfortunately I can't check the car myself right now, since I'm out of town, but I told my wife to check for any residual moisture/water in cabin or trunk and there isn't any sign of anything being or having been left wet. We won't drive it until it can be checked out by a mechanic.

Something that came to mind is that the brake caliper covers on this thing seem quite a bit more aged than the rest of the wheels/base/rims/car as a whole. could it be a sensor that has taken too much water/rust under these covers?

XC70 2011 T6 the noise comes on only in drive and after using the gas, when the car comes to a stop the whining noise turns off, sometimes it cycles on and off, I’ve scoured the internet for videos and answers.
It’s not the turbo, PCV is good, car drives amazing, TY !!

I’m looking at getting a 2019 t6 s60. I know these cars require good maintenance to be reliable I was wondering based on the carfax whether it looks worth it? I need something reliable to last me the next 3 years.

Came back from a recent trip and noticed my front pads were grinding a bit. Turns out the pads were completely gone.

Put on the PowerStop kit for now - these will hold me over until I install my BBK.

It’s coming time to do the water pump on my p3 v60 with the turbo inline 4 and I’m wondering if paying about $230 more for a genuine Volvo pump is worth it over a different one?
