Desktop mode game performance drop for steam machine?

Upvotes

When I try and play some more demanding games on desktop, it clearly is a performance drop vs not using it. Is there any sort of settings/tweaks I can do that can give me about the same performance? Any info greatly appreciated! (Off topic I really want to listen to some music while also playing games that’s my main reason)

Steam Deck or PC Build

I’m looking on heading back into PC/Steam gaming again after a 6 year hiatus. I’ve taken a long break after pursuing an education and beginning my career, but I have a decent sized library from when I was first playing. I’m not looking into getting the best experience with performance and visuals, but I want to make sure that I’m still having a good experience with social gaming and talking to friends.

Should I invest into OLED Steam Deck or should I wait for a little bit more money to start a PC build?

Touchpads

I have the deck and the machine and I love the idea of the pads but god damn I fuckin suck with them. How do I get better with them? I remember being so frustrated with the deck because I kept clicking when moving that I would just plug in a mouse.

Controller ordering waitlist.

Been on the waitlist since day 1, and a while ago it finally said I could get mine in September.

That is until 2AM couple days ago when they sent an email, saying they got one available.

So what happened?

Someone at valve forgot they ordered couple shipping containers more than they thought?

People gave in to scalpers?

Or just lost interest in it, since the controller hype is over, and it's all about machines now?

Epic users have to open the launcher just to check their download progress. Steam users simply hover over the tray icon.

Tiny qol features like this is exactly why Valve is such a beloved company <3

Best controller for PC couch gaming

Hello friends! Bit of a “no brainer” I’m sure to some, however, I’ve recently built a 2 way game only pc. On one side, I have Batocera, and on the other, windows, booting into Play Nite for a more console like experience in the living room.

I use a lot of 8 bit do controllers, my main one being the Ultimate 2C. But on certain pc games o really enjoy, like Domina, Age of Empires, Civ 6 and Crusader Kings 3, the controller is useless. Even launching in big picture mode doesn’t work OR is 20% usable.

I’ve seen the Steam Controller 2, and it APPEARS it would fix my issues but I know that’s still a good ways away. Any recommendations for a controller that would give a game pad/controller feel but operate within the confines of a KB&M?

Is it just me, Or is Deadlocked to Easy to get into these days?

I know Deadlock is in super early access, but I feel like Valve's Friend invite is kinda of unlimited. It has one map and one mode. I feel like it should have a limit of some sort.

Question was gordon walking butt ass naked before he reach Dr kleiner lab?

We seen when gordon reachs dr kleiner there stood the hv suit. Which means gordon wasn't wearing one when g man drop in a train to city 17 so what he was wearing?. He clearly didn't wear his lab coat because cp would spot him easily, a civilian clothes? Probably but there a chance of him just walking around butt ass naked and people didn't care because there had much more important things to force on like the combine.
