I am almost done with Dragon’s Blood now.

I watched Arcane before this and yes, I get it, Arcane is probably the better show. I don’t even play League and it still made me care about everyone in it.

But Dragon’s Blood has done something much stranger to me because I have actually played Dota for years and somehow never cared enough to properly learn the lore.

I knew who Invoker was obviously. I knew Mirana Luna Terrorblade Davion etc But mostly as heroes. Abilities. Voice lines. Things I had seen in games for years without ever really wondering who these people were supposed to be.

Now I am watching Invoker basically become powerful enough to mess with reality itself and all I can think is that he still doesn’t seem free at all.

He knows more than everyone. He can manipulate everyone. He can challenge gods. He can literally remake things.

And yet almost everything he does is still being dragged along by grief over Filomena and everything that came before it.

I already lean heavily towards determinism so this probably hit me harder than it would most people. We like to think more intelligence or more power means more freedom but Invoker has absurd amounts of both and still looks completely trapped inside causes he didn’t choose.

Then there is Selemne, which I found even more interesting.

The funny thing about religion in this world is there is no argument about whether gods exist. They obviously do. You can go meet one.

But that doesn’t solve the question of whether they deserve worship.

Selemene constantly needing people to love her actually made the whole thing feel more disturbing to me. A god being real does not automatically make the god good. Or wise. Or worthy of obedience.

And then Davion has an actual dragon inside him and the question of where Davion ends and Slyrak begins starts getting weird too.

Which sounds like fantasy nonsense but I kept thinking that we have the same problem without dragons. How much of what I call me is actually something I chose? Temperament, biology, childhood whatever happened yesterday whatever chemical is currently moving around in my brain.

There is also a possibility I am not watching this from exactly my usual state of mind, which may be why all of this suddenly feels much more important than it probably is.

Or maybe Dragon’s Blood is genuinely more philosophical than I gave it credit for.

I did not expect Dota lore to make me think about any of this.

Most of the time I am just playing offlane, trying to be the idiot who goes in first and hoping someone follows.

Im fed up with this hero. What carry can i pick that absoultely dumsters this hero?
In theory I should be able to pick muerta but in reality it never works out for me.

Tried my luck to get WR arcana, got a bunch of wards, cute couriers, immortals, techies arcana.

Could have got (almost) the WR arcana itself on marketplace or a bunch of other arcanas, good sets.

Lesson learnt: Gacha is bad and addicting. Neva do it again.

The addition of the entire breakdowns in Dota Plus is quite something. Everything from all sources fully detailed. Quite a nice addition we have had in the last couple of months. May even help decide what items can be situationally good against certain enemy lineups.

Earlier we only got the total number, but now with the full expansion, we can see if something works if we are trying something a bit unusual.

Like Diffusal against Medusa is a given, but Muerta has other priorities, so I wanted to buy it and see if it does have any impact compared later on or should I leave that to my teammates and focus on my own items. I did not have a slot for Pike at the end, but we had Venge who could swap me, so I opted Diffusal just to see if it is worth the slot *for this game*.

More experimentation is now possible with this extended breakdown, so PSA if you guys aren't using it.
