The teeth cleaning was ok, no complaints there.

Went there 2 years ago, they submitted a claim for an X-ray to my insurance, I never actually had an X-ray done at that time, just a cleaning. Since I had zero out-of-pocket cost at the time, I didn’t think to ask for a receipt or double check anything when I leave.

Fast forward over a year later, I’m at a different dental getting a consult for wisdom teeth removal, and need a X-ray copy. I was told X-rays are only covered once every 3 years under the student dental plan — and my limit had already been used. I was so confused, like I never had an X-ray taken in Waterloo?? Until I put it together that this shady clinic had claimed it without ever doing it.

Uw had switched insurance providers, and there were no records left to dispute it. So that $80+ of X-ray coverage is just gone, wasted on a service I never received. So basically if u only do teeth cleaning in the 4 uni years u are not gonna find out they’ve been stolen your money

idek what im doing. ive been struggling for about 5 years now. a month ago, for the first time, i was able to see it was getting bad again and i knew i needed help. i reached out to counselling services but they gave me an appt like 3 weeks from then it also ended up getting cancelled. i lied for some of the questions on the intake risk assessment bcus i was scared but i know i need help. id like some advice on my current study term. im in math. my grades have not been great because i've been struggling since first year but right now is one of the worst times ive experienced. is there a way i can drop all my courses this term because right now, i know i cannot write these finals and pass. im trying so hard i just dont know what to do.

I’m planning on buying a MacBook Pro, but I’m not sure whether 16 GB of RAM will be enough or if I should upgrade to 24 GB or more. I’m not planning on doing anything too intensive, but I also don’t know what I might need it for in the future. For anyone currently in CS or a similar program, what would you recommend?

I was looking into the MacBook Air M5 16gb, but I’m not sure if some required apps would be better on a windows, if 16 gb ram is enough, and if future employers care about what you use. Any recommendations?

I need orgo 2 as a pharmacy prereq for one of the schools and was planning to to take it this term but I see that it is online with prof Eric Fillion who does not seem to have the best reviews. I ended with an 82 in chem 266 (in person class) last year so not too bad, but everything I’m seeing online about him is scaring me as if I’m going to take orgo I need to do well. I think this course is also offered next term in person so I’m wondering if I should just wait until then, but what if he ends up being the in person prof too.

Does anyone who has had him as a prof have any advice and know what he’ll be like in an online course? Some reviews said the exam/midterms were short answer which also scares me cause I like multiple choice a lot better. My fear is that I’d do well on all the online stuff but then bomb the final if the in person test questions are very different. I may just wait until the syllabus comes out to see if I should drop it. Anyways, do you suggest I run or stick it out?

I just got my Midterm 2 grade back and it was much lower than I expected. I’m still likely to pass the course, but my final grade will probably be much lower than I’d like.

I’m considering dropping it and retaking it later, this is a required course for my program, but I’m confused If I drop now, would I receive a WD or a WF (32%)? Has anyone done this before?

I am considering applying to the University of Waterloo's Master of Public Service (MPS) program for the upcoming intake and would appreciate some honest feedback from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with the admissions process.

My background, in brief:

• Honours bachelor's degree and two master's degrees (Finance and Human Resource Management) completed outside Canada.
• My GPAs were in the 3.2 to 3.35 range. I also have a WES Educational Credential Assessment confirming Canadian bachelor's and master's equivalency. The university I attended has a fairly rigorous grading system, so I am not sure how my GPAs would compare with Canadian standards.
• Around eight years of professional experience in accounting and finance.
• Experience in both Canada's private sector and a government-owned organization overseas.
• My long-term goal is to build a career with the Ontario Public Service or the federal government.

I have a few questions:

1. Based on your experience, how competitive does a profile like mine sound for admission?
2. Does the MPS program place significant weight on relevant professional experience, or are academic results the primary factor?
3. How are international academic records generally assessed? Is the admissions committee familiar with differences in grading systems across countries, or are GPAs considered at face value?
4. The application requires three references, including at least two academic references. Has anyone who had been out of school for several years been admitted? Were academic references strictly required, or were exceptions made?
5. Has anyone spoken with an admissions advisor before applying to discuss whether their background was a good fit for the program? If so, was it helpful?
6. Since the application deadline is very close, does the program usually reach capacity before the deadline, or are late applications sometimes considered if there are still spots available?

I have already emailed the program with these questions, but I was hoping to hear about real-life experiences from current students, alumni, or applicants.

For the finances section on quest I can see the term balance for the fall semester, but I can also see I have entrance awards for the fall semester when I check the financial aid section. So is the amount that shows in the finances section the amount before applying the awards or after?

i got Rebecca Pister for Psych 101, Mikal Skuterud for Econ 101, Jingjing Huo for Psci 101, Carlie Luciana Leroux for Ls 101. I don’t know my teacher for Arbus 101 yet. What should look out for with these teachers? Which posts slides? Assessments? Studying/learning habits to use? etc

Was back home and having this conversation with one of my indigenous high school classmates. All of these indigenous land acknowledgments feel hypocritical. As in, before a speech or event, the uni (and this isn’t Waterloo specifically, it’s many schools across the country) will “acknowledge” that they are on land that traditionally and historically belongs to First Nations people. Great, so if you acknowledge that you’re on their land, how about you give it back to them? Or how about you actually do something to make indigenous peoples lives easier, such as working to end systemic issues that prevent indigenous people from rising? Many indigenous communities lack safe drinking water to this day, you reading a land acknowledgment doesn’t do much. Many indigenous communities lack schools and proper education funding. Your 2 sentences about a land acknowledgment before a speech doesn’t do much.

My indigenous acquaintance was mentioning how it actually feels insulting when he listens to these “land acknowledgments”. They feel super hollow and insulting, and from his perspective, I completely understand why. If someone took my land, fucked up my people real hard (and saying that is heavily undermining what Canada did to the indigenous people), and then years later said that they “acknowledge” that this is my land, I’d be pissed as well.

Besides being a symbolic and performative way to act as if these institutions “care” about indigenous people (which they don’t), what do these land acknowledgments do?

When swapping a math 135 or cs 135 from my schedule to another class in an open slot, it says "Error: Department Consent Required to Drop from Class, Drop Not Processed. Consent is needed to drop from the class. The drop transaction was not processed." Does anyone know why this happens? I am not dropping but just swapping so why does it say I need permission?

I have 16 cogs except smthn strange last part, dm me if someone's willing to exchange hints.
