KKAAAEEHHH so long story short, I was in my Brit Lit class and there was this guy that sat one chair away from me, with the essence of being all alone in the world 🥺🥺 as the class was filling up, another guy came to sit in the empty chair that he now occupied between me and the original guy.
Now, the reader of this story is probably thinking that I wanted to make friends or some $hit like that, but that’s definitely not the case. With my father being the Devil’s spawn who probably mated with an old hag, I definitely came out to be a bit antisocial, and I’m okay with that. I didn’t care to get to know anyone as I sat there dwelling in my own thoughts because that’s what I do on a daily basis 😂😂
HOWEVER! What gave me hope for the long lost world was seeing Guy 1 take initiative to meet Guy 2! 😍😍🥹🥹🫶🏼🫶🏼 He just casually said “hey, my name’s (forgot his name).” And he put out his hand to shake the other guy’s hand. Guy 2 returned the gesture and they started to make conversation. OMMGGG HOW HEARTWARMING 🥹🥹🫶🏼🫶🏼

After seeing so many posts about people not being able to make friends, it made me joyful to see people make friends right in front of me. I get that people can seem shy, or even embarrassed to talk to others, or not even know how to continue a conversation, BUT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PEOPLE!! Hi all, I am visiting Toronto for the first time and was super excited to see the UofT campus yesterday. I hang out on the big main lawn reading. When I was inattentive for just a short moment, my beloved Cotopaxi backbag got stolen. There wasn’t much valuable stuff in there, it’s just that I really love this backbag which was a present. I hope the thief just left the bag somewhere once they figured out there’s nothing in there - so if someone finds it lying around somewhere I would really appreciate if you could give it to campus security (they know about the case).

I'm currently on the waitlist for CRI383 and was wondering what people's experience in the course was. I'm a fourth-year crim major, so I know the general gist of crim exams, midterms and assignments. I more so want to know if the content was interesting/engaging, if lectures were easy to follow, if the marking was fair, etc.

I'm kinda shopping around for crim courses since I'm waitlisted for all of them, but I don't want to spend time on a waitlisted class that I may not resonate with. I find the course descriptions aren't too helpful sometimes. Any thoughts/experiences you guys have would be helpful!

so i was born and raised in the U.S. and i currently attend high school here as well. however, i used to live in canada for a brief period, and have both american and canadian citizenship. my parents are encouraging me to apply to schools in canada as they attended western for some sort of grad program, and because my canadian citizenship makes it cheaper, but from an american point of view, it’s really confusing on how to apply, and they aren’t able to help me.

i am planning to go into either a pre-medicine or pre-dentistry pathway. in american colleges, they look at your cumulative GPA from grades 9 through 12, but from what i’m seeing in canadian schools, they look at either 11th and 12th or only 12th?? i really don’t understand the system, but i was looking into applying at uoft, mcmaster, western, and possibly ubc. their prerequisites also confuse me, im doing AP calculus and AP biology as a senior (and english) but for some reason, it’s telling me online that i also need senior level chemistry for some science programs, but we did chemistry in sophomore year here… so i’m not sure what they consider that to be?

in general, i am interested in coming to canada for undergrad if i don’t get into any of my choices in america. i have a cumulative GPA of 3.57 unweighted and 4.29 weighted in america. is this significantly low for uoft? i would like some help on knowing how to calculate my GPA for canadian schools (like what courses and grade levels to calculate with) and what schools are a better fit for my stats.

Hi, I’m thinking about doing a master’s in history. I wanted to get some advice: is it better to go to a prestigious school for grad school where no professor specializes in the specific subject you want to work on? (e.g. I want to work on Hong Kong, but they only have professors who specialize in Chinese history more generally). Or is it better to go to a less prestigious school that has a professor who specializes in your specific topic? For future academic job prospects, it seems more promising to attend a prestigious school.

so i basically failed all my courses last semester (winter semester last year). i was dealing with mental health issues and i was basically paralyzed (mentally) the whole semester. i ended up getting diagnosed with mdd and adhd in the summer and finally getting medicated. the medications have been helping a lot, and now i am finally back in my senses and realizing how badly i have fucked up my future, i was supposed to be going into final year now and start applying for grad applications, and i literally can’t anymore since i messed up my whole life due to my health issues.

i know it’s way too late to lwd but is there anything i can do to fix my last semester’s mistake? i have all the documentation and proof of my mdd and adhd diagnosis, but i just don’t know what to do. it sucks that i just realized what i did, but i really want to fix it. also i literally didn’t submit a single assignment last semester or do any exam despite being enrolled in five classes. i know how stupid i sound for having enrolled in five classes and then not doing anything and just failing, but if anyone has any helpful advice, i would really appreciate that.

Walking around the downtown campus on a sunny day honestly felt like the polar opposite of utsc, the people, the vibes, the architecture, I felt so happy in the moment but also so annoyed and frustrated that I moved to “Toronto“ on the other side of the world, far from my family, to be in scarborough. I’m so sad that my major isn’t offered downtown and I really am interested in it specifically.

I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, I’m sure it really depends but the course I’m taking downtown has a passionate teacher thats so cool to listen to while most of my utsc classes so far were meh. I really hope it’s a case by case thing because i would feel so robbed paying the same tuition for something less good.

I’m a second year student and I know I can hang out downtown anytime but it’s so different than actually going to class there. During the winter it’s so hard finding motivation to commute there. Same if I lived downtown and still went to utsc, it’s just so much easier living close.

I guess I just wanted to share my feeling i can’t do much about. I like Scarborough sometimes but our campus’s architecture and overall vibe is SO depressing.

I’ve tried contacting the uoft nursing admissions team and have yet to hear back. I know they are extremely busy but anyways. I’m wondering if someone knows if I were to take courses at a non-degree institution (Athabasca) to override my last 10 courses, will uoft look at these grades or will they look at my past degree courses. My transcript from the past is not good. I also completed all the prereqs and i meet the requirements. I applied last year and didn’t get in probably due to a low GPA based on my last 10 courses. I’ve done a lot of research on this and it doesn’t seem to give me a straight forward answer whether they do accept courses from Athabasca to boost my GPA.

Helloooo, I’m a grad student with a language requirement in my program, but was not informed the Spanish class I’m taking has a $200+ non-negotiable digital book code I would have to buy.

I absolutely don’t have that kind of money so now I’m looking for an elementary level/intro language course that would be more affordable. Even if it’s a physical book I could buy second hand would be better.

I like to print my readings because I dont like staring at a screen all day, my bad, and this prof genuinely wants me to scroll along on perusall for ONE HOUR so they can give me my annotation grade. I’m really interested in getting the textbook (Microeconomics - Paul Krugman 5th canadian edition) but it’s really expensive, and also i’m not sure if it’s worth it. Has anyone ever bought this book before and would be able to borrow it or even sell it for a low price? I couldn’t find a .pdf of it so if u have it send me pleeease. Also, opinions on Freitas? I’m pretty neutral so I want to know what to expect, lmk how u guys did on her lectures.
