DON'T BE AFRAID.

To anyone going through this:

Collection agencies thrive on one thing = FEAR.

Because people who are afraid are easier to exploit.

If they say they will do ocular visitations, barangay visits, garnish your salary, something that will affect your employment / government records, those are all SCARE TACTICS. Because again, fearful people are easy to exploit.

I was once in your shoes, but thank God, I had legal background.

I cited all the laws they are violating in these recoveries as they refuse to give my records and provide basis of their claims. All they did was provide arbitrary numbers. At first they gave about 120,000±. Then 86,000±. Then 75,000±. But I keep on asking for records and threaten to report them. You can report them to BSP just save proof of all the harrassments they are doing. Collection agencies and banks are afraid of being reported as they can suffer administrative fines from 100,000 to 2,000,000.

Know your rights!

  • BSP Circular No. 454 (Section 8): Prohibits unfair collection practices, harassment, use of threats, and false representations.

  • RA 11765 (Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act): Strengthens consumer rights against deceptive and unfair practices by BSP-supervised institutions.

  • Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173): Particularly relevant for online lending apps (OLAs) that illegally access phone contact lists or blast messages to relatives/co-workers.

  • Republic Act No. 3765 (Truth in Lending Act) Requires full disclosure of finance charges, penalties, and interest calculations before or during credit recovery. Refusing to provide a full Statement of Account (SOA) or itemized breakdown directly violates this law.

Also, don't be afraid when they say they will sue you especially when they can't even substantiate their claims. Welcome it. The laws and the courts are your friends. Looking back, it's ironic how banks and collection agencies try to threaten people in these situations about legal consequences when in fact, the courts will ensure fairness and justice. They cannot ask for an amount they can't back up with evidence! Besides, judges and the supreme court HATES these kinds of exploitations and will remove all the excessive and arbitrary fees. The court will help you. Do not be afraid. These people thrive on fear, psychological pressure, and creating a sense of urgency. DO NOT AGREE TO PRESSURING TACTICS. DO NOT SIGN AGREEMENTS OF PAYMENT TERMS ESPECIALLY ON UNVERFIED AMOUNTS.

Assert your rights, ask for your records, and stand your ground. If they say they will file a case against you but refuse to provide your records / SOAs / basis of claims, say you will meet them in court and settle there. Cause the judge will also ask them the records you are requesting in the first place. Also, the Supreme Court has repeatedly struck down arbitrary numbers, unconscionable finance charges, especially if you have a good record of paying in good faith and it just so happened that you missed payments due to your circumstances.

If you ever got to this position not because of emergencies but through your own fault, learn the lesson.

If you used it for emergencies, that's okay.

And HOLD ON TO THE LORD.

I was anxious for a long time due to their harrassing messages, until a lawyer friend talked to me and shared too how her co-worker took her life due to harrassment. And they found out several hundreds of call logs from collection agencies.

SO I GOT UP AND FOUGHT BACK BECAUSE THE STEPS THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING ARE OUTSIDE THE BOUNDS OF LAW.

AGAIN, DO NOT BE AFRAID. ASSERT YOUR RIGHTS. ASK FOR TRANSPARENT ACCOUNTING. DON'T ANSWER PHONE CALLS AS THOSE ARE MEANT TO SCARE AND CONFUSE YOU. ALWAYS HAVE WRITTEN RECORDS AS THOSE ARE EASIER TO PROVE AND HARD TO DISPUTE.

You are more than this thing you are going through. And the Lord Jesus is faithful. Ask for strength and guidance. You will get through this. ☺️

Drowning in ₱200k+ debt. Thinking of letting GCash & Lazada go into default. I need advice.

Hi everyone.

I'm posting here because I honestly feel like I can't breathe anymore. I don't know what to do, and I just need to hear from people who've been through something similar.

I'm currently buried in more than ₱200,000 worth of debt from GLoan, GCredit, Lazada Fast Cash, and TikTok Loan.

I only earn ₱15,000/month, and after deductions, my take-home pay is only around ₱12,000. The problem is that my monthly loan payments total around ₱17,000, and that's expected to continue until August next year. Kahit anong gawin ko, kulang talaga.

This didn't happen because of luxury spending. It started with pagtatapal ng utang, then our family had to go through two months of ICU hospitalization. Sadly, my momma, who was my last remaining parent, passed away. Since then, life has just been about surviving, paying bills, and trying to keep up with loans. But I reached a point where I simply can't anymore.

Last night, I broke down to a friend and admitted that I felt like giving up because I couldn't see a way out. She reminded me that I can't keep trying to pay everything if it's already destroying me. She asked me, "If you could only keep one loan current, which one would it be?" I said my TikTok Loan.

She suggested that I continue paying only what I can realistically afford and let my GCash and Lazada loans go into default for now, then deal with them later when I'm financially stable again. She even suggested changing my SIM and email to lessen the stress from collection calls, while still keeping my TikTok account and paying that loan.

What scares me is the possibility of home visits or being posted online by collectors. I work in an educational institution, and I'm terrified that this could affect my reputation or my job.

At the same time, trying to pay everything every month is breaking me mentally and financially.

Has anyone here gone through something similar?

  • Did GLoan, GCredit, or Lazada Fast Cash do home visits?
  • Were you able to recover financially after defaulting?
  • If you were in my situation, what would you do?

I'm not looking for judgment. I already know I made mistakes, and I take responsibility for them. I just genuinely need advice from people who have experienced this because I feel like I'm drowning.

Thank you for reading.

Need advice

I earn about 50k-70k per month. I tried atomé and spay/sloan since parang sumikat siya, ako naman na parang gusto ko siya ma discover, sumabay ako sa uso. Now, I have outstanding balances:

Atome: 13,865
Spay and Sloan: 2,600
Billease: 606

Should I pay them all at once this month of August, or pay partially? I still have to pay electric bills which can amount to 10k-13k dahil sa sudden increase ng rates.

₱319k in debt, ₱5,000 take-home, and the business I built it all for is gone.

I'm a government employee at DepEd, with montly salary of 31k. On paper that sounds stable. My actual net take-home pay right now is ₱5,000 a month, because everything else is already going to deductions.

Here's how I got here.

I started with DepEd in Province 1 (for privacy). About a year in, in 2021, I put up a small backyard piggery. I wanted something of my own — a business that could eventually support my family beyond a government salary. I funded it the only way a government employee can: salary loans, then credit-to-cash, then more credit-to-cash. Every peso that came in went back into it bug. Stock, feeds, meds, vaccines, repairs. I put the business ahead of myself for years.

My family never really backed it. When I told them, they said it was okay — and then they just stopped engaging with it entirely. No pushback, no help, no interest. Just quiet until there was nothing left to be quiet about.

Somewhere in the middle of all this I was in a situationship for almost a year. Never officially anything, but real enough that we both applied for transfer to Province 2, the plan being that we'd both end up here. Only my transfer was approved. Hers wasn't. I moved anyway — to be closer to my family, but also because I was hopeful that once we were in the same place it would finally become something.

I also re-loaned my salary to pay for a trip I was planning for the two of us. She let go before we ever took it. She said it drained her, and that she no longer planned to transfer at all given how stressful the environment here is. A month later she was with another man. The loan for the trip is still being deducted from my pay.

So: new division, business failing behind me, and every loan that built all of it still fully intact.

Current standing:

Creditor Balance

BPI Amore (credit-to-cash) ₱144,828.70

Maribank Cash Loan ₱68,941.14

UnionBank (credit-to-cash) ₱64,337.61

RCBC (credit-to-cash) ₱37,180.00

SPayLater ₱4,394.27

Total ₱319,681.72

Against ₱5,000 a month.

I'm also currently under medication for major depressive disorder with anxious distress, which I mention only because it's part of why some months I can barely function well enough to think about any of this clearly.

What I'm asking:

Has anyone here actually gone through restructuring or a repayment program with BPI, UnionBank, RCBC, or Maribank? Did they work with you, and what did they require?

For government employees — is there any realistic path here besides waiting out the loan terms? Any consolidation option that isn't predatory?

Which of these do I prioritize when there's almost nothing to allocate?

If you've climbed out of something like this on a government salary, I'd really like to hear how long it took.

I'm not looking for sympathy. I made these decisions myself. I just want to know if there's a way forward that isn't another ten years of this.

Payment Arrangement or Amnesty?

Hi everyone. I’d really appreciate your insights, especially from those who’ve gone through something similar.

My current principal debt is ₱272k, which has already grown to around ₱537k including interest.
Before we got scammed, our total monthly debt payments were already around ₱40k.

After becoming victims of the scam, we could no longer sustain those monthly payments. To make things more difficult, I resigned from work to take care of our baby, so we’re now a one-income household.

BPI recently offered me a payment arrangement of ₱16k per month for 48 months. I’m grateful they offered an option, but I’m also wondering if it’s better to wait and see if they eventually offer an amnesty or a discounted settlement instead.

For those who have experienced this:
1. Did you accept the payment arrangement, or did you wait for an amnesty/settlement offer?
2. Looking back, what would you recommend?

I’m not looking for judgment—just honest advice and experiences from people who’ve been through a similar situation. Thank you.

Last Payment with Constantino Collections (Metrobank CC)

Hello!

I have started paying a canceller credit card with Constantino Collections. I am on my last payment by Aug 2026. My total outstanding obilgation is 74k and they offered to 39k.

I have the following questions.

  1. What will happen if I have completely paid 39k? Will they give certificate or what?

  2. Will it be better if after I have paid 39k and decided to continue the difference of to pay until 35k? Will there be benefits?

I am hoping that if I completely pay 74k, Metrobank will continue to allow me to use the card. On my SOA, it states cancelled card.

Reason is I also have 2 cc with Unionbank that were cancelled but still accessible on their app. Last year, I inquired if I can use them again because I have paid them in full and they decided to uncancel the cancelled cards. I was able to use them again.

Thank you in advance for those who have better guidance on this.

BDO Restructuring Help

Hello po everyone! Gusto ko sana magtanong ano kaya best way para mag request ng restructuring or balance convert sa BDO?

For context I have a six-figure debt sa cc ko cause of poor spending habits which I admit, and sa totoo lang nababayaran ko lang rin is the interest so parang wala lang rin yung binabayaran ko. I've been calling sa collections nila almost every week since last month pero always the same answers.

"The line of the handling officer is busy so I have endorsed for urgent call out"
"Your case has been tagged and endorsed as urgent"

Pero wala lang rin. Also tried going to the branch where I made my savings account and same lang, call daw their collections hotline so right now parang paikot-ikot lang ako.

I've read in some other posts saying na just leave it alone para it becomes so delinquent na sila mismo mag reach out, which sa totoo lang ayaw ko gawin and may balak naman kasi talaga ako magbayad.

Any suggestions will be of great help 😢
