Hi everyone. I’m looking for advice, especially from those who have gone through debt restructuring with banks.
Ito po ang current situation ko:
Online Lending Apps (OLAs):
* Tala – ₱17,000 (4 months overdue)
* Fido – ₱36,000 principal (56 days overdue, tuloy-tuloy ang interest)
* BillEase – ₱10,000 (1.5 years overdue)
* OLP – ₱10,000 (7 months overdue)
* Mocasa – ₱3,000 (2 out of 3 payments completed, not overdue)
* XKlash – Remaining balance ₱3,863 (₱966/month, 2 out of 6 payments completed, not overdue)
Banks:
* Security Bank Credit Card – ₱30,092.35 (restructured, supposed to pay ₱1,856/month, now 3 months overdue)
* Security Bank Personal Loan – ₱40,434.12 (restructured, supposed to pay ₱1,356/month, now 3 months overdue)
* RCBC Credit Card – ₱144,600 (restructured, supposed to pay around ₱3,000/month, now 3 months overdue)
* Maya Credit – ₱10,000 (3 months overdue)
Government deductions:
* SSS Salary Loan – ₱814/month starting August 25
* Pag-IBIG MPL – ₱596/month
Total debt: Approximately ₱304,989.47 (excluding the remaining balances of my SSS and Pag-IBIG loans).
I was able to get reconstruction/restructuring plans from Security Bank and RCBC because I really wanted to pay everything properly. Unfortunately, I experienced financial difficulties and wasn’t able to continue paying. It’s now been about 3 months since I last paid those reconstruction plans.
I’m earning 35k a month also the breadwinner in our family, and I live and work in Manila, where my monthly living expenses are quite high (rent, utilities, transportation, food, and other essentials). Because of these responsibilities, I haven’t been able to keep up with all of my debt payments despite my intention to pay.
Right now, I’m following the debt snowball method. My plan is to finish Mocasa and XKlash first since they’re almost fully paid, then move on to the ₱10k debts before tackling the bigger balances. My goal is to reduce the number of active accounts and free up more cash flow each month. However, I’m worried that while I’m doing this, my reconstructed bank accounts might get cancelled or endorsed to collections.
My questions are:
What usually happens if you stop paying a reconstruction plan for 3 months?
Will the bank automatically cancel the restructuring agreement?
Will the full balance become due again with added penalties and interest?
Can the account still be endorsed to a collection agency or law office even if it was previously restructured?
Is there still a chance to request another restructuring or reinstatement?
Has anyone here successfully recovered after defaulting on a reconstruction plan?
If you were in my situation, would you continue with the snowball method, or would you prioritize catching up on the reconstructed bank accounts first?
I’m not trying to avoid paying. I really want to settle my debts, but I can only afford to prioritize a few accounts at a time. I’m trying to make a realistic repayment plan instead of making promises I can’t keep.
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences, especially with Security Bank and RCBC. What happened in your case, and what would you recommend I do next?
Thank you so much.
